This week’s ScoutCast is a throwback – a return to the days when Granville moaned about his team of red flags and names like Robin van Persie and Yaya Toure dominated our thinking.

Granville and I slip into such subject matter like it’s a pair of old slippers, whilst assessing the Aguero fall-out, the Dzeko option, Ivanovic versus “Dave” Azpi and how I’ve modelled my Fantasy Football management style on Roy Hodgson.

We roll out the regulars and lament the demise of the ScoutCast team – eliminated in the opening round of our own cup competition. Some things never change.

    Generally a low scoring season so far.

    Last year I had 947pts (compared to 831pts) at this point last season and was 4K further down the OR.

    Don't dare look how far of top spot I am, but guess the leaders are flying away with it.....

      No Suarez. Not enough Sturridge. No overachieving Liverpool, Yaya and Ramsey. Yeah I said that.

        Actually mainly to do with captain choices I think.

        Last year Suarez, Aguero, Rooney, Yaya, Ramsey etc were all producing the goods week after week.

        If you check highest scorers this season, they're all randoms, only Aguero & Costa once each.

          Could be. And it was victory for the casuals, we (I mean us) were expecting some regression but boy those jammy penalties keep happening for Yaya, and Rambo couldn't stop scoring too.

      967 points for 9164 in gw15 last year. Now it's 842 for 12,090. That's the Suarez effect I suppose.

        And captains Billy. Last year captains were bang 'em in. Week after week we were getting loads extra points from captains (admittedly mainly Suarez) but he was out for first six GW's.

        Suppose it will happen Jonny.

        Probability is that a few will get all these big hauls I've missed (Aguero x 4, Tadic 20+, Baines good week, hatricks etc).

        A good season to get super lucky......

        Well as the box to box player, with Arteta, Jack and Aaron out.

        He's played there for us a few times, and for England as well.

        Another option would be Caz next to Flamini, but the same 11 I'd say.

    Ouch if you brought in Ramsey early and hard luck I suppose! Points > Team Value and I think in the long run you are better off making your transfer on the friday because there will be that one or two occassions you get caught. Few people got stung with rooney 2 weeks ago aswell

      Mostly just pissed at him for saying afterwards he was fine and was pulled as a precaution so he could play this weekend. That's what made me ok with getting him in. Stupid hindsight.

      Not about his score this week, I shipped him for YYT who will score better than him until he goes to ACON IMO. I also think that Downing is much better value anyway, sometimes you have to think long term.

    Wow, didn't expect Ramsey to be out after he said he was OK midweek. Wasn't going to bring him in but see many that did. I always feel like a loser for having a very low TV, but I guess that's the risk in catching rises etc.

      Points over TV. I've paid little attention to price drops (also a function of how unreliable it was at start of the season) and it has benefited big time.

          no doubt. pick the right players though, and it will sort itself out. I'm at 105.4 without paying much attention to prices, and I haven't owned Fabregas all season. It's been tough, but high TV =/= high rank.

    seeing that i dont have hazard and most have been singing songs about hazard this week i'm worried.
    i swapped fab to yaya n aguero to dzeko. who should i captain this week is my main issue.worried not having hazard.regretting not brining him in .

    Front Eight:

    Sanchez, Hazard, Siggy, Eriksen, Boyd
    Costa, Austin, Aguero

    A: Boyd/Aguero to Yaya/Kane or
    B: Eriksen/Aguero to Yaya/Dzeko

    I'm leaning to B, but it seems mad to get rid of Eriksen when I have so many injuries/suspensions.

    What's the explanation for taking a -4 hit on a non-playing GK? I understand that he will most likely get 2 points making it -2 but isn't 0 points better than -2?

      If it's a long term move, it makes sense. But for someone like Fabianksi, who is only out for 1 game, it's probably worth just playing 10.

      I always do early transfers, and it only bites you in the arse two or three times a season. Can be worth much more than 0.3 in the long run.

      0.3 ITB. But not 0.3 in value. 0.3 in value can be zero ITB when you come to sell.

      Should try to maximise points but 0.3 ITB is quite a bit.

    Swans have an abysmal record V Spurs haven't beaten them since they came up So do I put Kane on for Siggy?????

    Drogba has a possibility of starting i think and if i missed that i'd be sick even a 20 min cameo he prob would get points. Should he be benched or start? OR is the doubt on him enough to bench him and play kane and keep Siggy.

    Chelsea have never beaten newcastle at St James is this one of those games for Swans too..

    Sorry for long post but your help and advice is much appreciated..

    P.S I know my FWd Line is weak I couldnt get costa back in after aguero injury
