Basking in the glow of a sensational Gameweek 8 score, many of the community were still counting up their goals and assists long after the final whistle last Sunday. We glance back at another sensational display from Sergio Aguero and Southampton’s players and look ahead to the coming Gameweeks, with hidden Fantasy gems and new managerial appointments dominating discussion. Elsewhere, we catch up on the latest Members tables as well as find out what effect last weekend’s goalfest had on our community tournaments.

The Community Articles

Swansea’s dip in form while Tottenham and Crystal Palace’s ability to finally find their feet this season are the key issues discussed in Rakkhi’s team trends analysis of the first eight Gameweeks.

Congratulations to The 3rd Turd whose analysis of Fantasy Football radars and bubbles have earned him £20 Amazon voucher after winning the Community article of the month vote for September.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Liverpool’s sacking of Brendan Rodgers and wooing of former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp was amongst the hot topics discussed during this week’s international break. Berbinho’s Forehead’s focus was on Rodgers differences with Liverpool’s transfer committee, while Numb pondered whether Klopp will flop.

Meanwhile, Theo Walcott was dramatically dumped by John Terry’s Dog as his affections move across the capital to West Ham’s Dimitri Payet. His break up letter to the Arsenal man proved a real tearjerker.

Trigg has been asking which have been the community’s worst transfers. Could dumping Walcott be added to that list when it is refreshed in a few Gameweeks time?

There may be some more broken hearts should the community’s hidden gems for the coming Gameweeks fail to shine.

Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand was among the key names mentioned as differential prospects and was also discussed in Rodellegabomb’s hot topic on the Saints more settled backline.

For the second year running, Gameweek 8 proved pivotal to many of our community who backed Southampton’s assets, as well as Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero with the captain’s armband. Last season Aguero scored four against Tottenham, while Southampton humiliated Sunderland. Both were at it again this season, with the Argentine striker scoring five against Newcastle and Southampton putting Chelsea to the sword. A more detailed look back at what was a week to savour for many can be found in Your Mum’s Athletic’s latest What the Bookies say update.

The spooky coincidence of Gameweek 8’s repeated success for many of our community also sparked a discussion on other illogical Fantasy Football folklores.

In the more immediate future, though, Aguero owners are facing a nervous wait to see the extent of an injury picked up while on international duty for Argentina. Here we look at some of the potential scenarios and contingency plans should he face a lengthy lay-off.

Another star of Gameweek 8 was Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen. His two wonder free-kicks against Swansea inspired Demi to start a discussion on Europe’s best free kick specialists.

Amongst the community, EnglishNo7 was one of the biggest beneficiaries of Gameweek 8’s goal-a-thon. He finds himself at the top of the Fantasy Premier League Fantasy Football Scout league and dropped by to deliver some words of wisdom for his fellow Fantasy managers.

Finally, while FPL is the main game for much of our community there are plenty of other Fantasy Football games out there, from weekly contests to draft games. Here the community offered their thoughts on coping with the multi-Fantasy football experience.

The Members Tables

For those eyeing up Southampton players, I’ve made this table looking at their key attacking assets. Elsewhere, Doosra has made this table looking at this season’s best deadball specialists and the Sportsguy has turned to shots on target to find the brightest midfield diamonds.

Giggs Boson has been looking at those players that are scoring well from few opportunities or shots on target. There was further discussion around this ‘lethal or imposter’ table and the ways it can be interpreted here.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

There were some huge scores in round 2 of Jaffalicious’s FFS UEFA Champions League style tournament, according to his latest update.

Niclas Andersson’s tally of 118 in Gameweek 8 meant he has regained the lead in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season mini-league. He now sits in 144th overall and also retains top spot in the FFS Old Farts Club league, for our community’s elders as well as first place in the Long and Winding Road main league.

There’s no stopping Andy in the FFScout moderators and contributors league. He remains in first after recording an impressive score of 110 in Gameweek 8. Greenwindmill is the latest to take second place in an attempt to catch him.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Gecko hit the top score in Gameweek 8 with 131 where the safety score was set at 61. Entry is open during for the international break, for more details visit here.

Finally, here’s a reminder from Jarvish of his Blank Weekend Challenge competition. This focuses on some of the lower English league players and is ideal for those keen to scratch their Fantasy Football itch during the international break.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Best buy for the next gameweek?

    A. Sanchez
    B. Hazard
    C. Walcott

(Chelsea vs Aston Villa seems tempting)

Thanks for the replies Balders and Addicts. gonna have to repost though cause it got stuck bottom and i'm here just for the next 10 mins 🙂

Which of these would you keep on WC this week
    A) Kolarov - Clichy back soon
    B) Mahrez - Got Vardy upfront already and not sure about a double up.. only since i'm WCing and can start with a clean slate
    C) Williams - Good fixtures but has been a disappointment really

Considering swapping all 3 out atm since i've got a reset button via Wildcard 🙂

      A. Not sure you need Mahrez anymore with Vardy up top and he's at a risk of rotation. Williams as you said has been a disappointment. Think it is worth the risk with kolarov, if city struggle to score goals then they may tighten up down back + he's a natural goal threat anyway. Good luck Valar!

It's not entirely obvious but I'm deciding whether Sinclair -> KDB is worth a -4.

Would mean benching Mahrez this week and then probably Mane next week.

          Planning to WC in GW11

Haha, true. But given I'm wildcarding in 2 weeks I'm not sure it's worth a hit. A) and B) above is the match up before then.

Coates -> Azpil isn't worth a hit is it?

    A) Azpil (AVL, whu)

    Vs

    B) Huth (sot, CPL) + 4

    Kolarov, Bellerin, Huth, Coates, Targett
    Bank 1.9m

      • 12 Years

nope you need 2 cleanies to 0 for it to be worth it.

Wouldn't it be 1 (plus any bonus) vs 0 to be worth it?

Don't fancy Huth to keep a cleanie in either of his games, but I'd back Azpil to get one (despite their current state)

GK: Will I play every week? | I want to say no but he seems to be coming into some form.
Def: Clichy is a coming | Nice | You went there - could be genius, could be a disaster | How can I still feel ambiguity after 8 weeks? | Hutch? Needs Rabbits. Huth? Needs more Pulis.
Mids: Damn, you support Wycombe Wanderers don't you? Must do if you think that's quality | Oh for the love of the almighty why is he still here? | Yeah, Mane that's a good selection | Payet again Sam | Mahrez my man.
Fwds: Violins are playing | The law has spoken, keep him | Robson Green was better.

GK: Nice | How long do I have left?
Def: Clock is ticking, hopefully he'll go boom once or twice more | Uh-oh, Chelsea defender | You want the Huth? You can't handle the Huth | Off-Targett | Muniseah? No.
Mid: Best Sanchez since Vicario | More conversions than Jonny Wilkinson | Coutinwho? Nice, different. | Mahrez no time to tinker, Tinkerman | Bentalab? Needs testing
Fwds: Ouch | Oooh | Ahhh?

          - Transfers for this week already done... likely benching Aguero this week.
          - Will decide on Aguero replacement after Saturday
          - Already have Bertrand but will get myself an Everton defender from the Aguero windfall!

u have a good squad, can afford to bench kun w/o a hit
when you're ready, downgrading him will help your def 1st
into the english winter, i would rather have my strong sub as a def..

don't hold the kun money-spend it!
who knows how you'll want to balance things in 8ish weeks time..

                    tampoco..
so, i'd say you need to sink the windfall in the def, to have 5 players, and take risks on the squad up top
seriously, the winter means more 0-0 coming..

GK: Myhill is big, my mountain is better, but in the absence of Ben Foster (Scottish joke there) Myhill is good | Twiddling his thumbs ain't he?
Def: Kolarov me one more time baby | Yes, best Bertie since Bassett | Such a normal name, such a goal scoring record, like 2 amazing minutes on the dance floor aged 18 it's unlikely to continue into the 20s | Rich-ards, clean sheets poor | Gomez? Go, be gone.
Mid: The best Mane since the one on my lively horse | In an era of famous Belgians, has anyone surpassed Hercule Poirot? He's not there yet, but keep this up and he might | Dirty Sanchez? Love it | Mah-rezed me to be a good boy and not to remove the best player from the team. You hear me Tinkerman? | Payet paid out, but for how long?

Aguero, Gomez will likely go out next week. Can take a fall on either without losing value... and not taking a hit for a defender.

McCarthy & Richards will have to wait, I guess.

Guess I can go ahead with Bellerin now and get the cash From Aguero sale.

Fixtures wise, Costa is a good pick.

Form wise, a bit doubt on Chelsea as a team.

They were last season champion though. I still believe they can turn good soon.

    Cech, Myhill
    Dawson, Kolarov, Nyom, Francis, Clyne
    Mane, Mahrez/Cabaye, KDB, Sanchez, Payet
    Pelle, Lukaku, Vardy

Thoughts? Worth doing that in next GW?

So with Aguero out and Silva potentially out, are City assets even worth considering? Fixtures are mint, I know, but I am thinking of going Mane instead of KDB.

I have KDB and very happy with it, but if I were to bring in someone would consider Theo and Mane before him

What are your other players? Pellè for example?

Don't have Pelle. Have Gomis and Ighalo.

Mane or Theo? Can afford both, but Mane would make getting Kun back little bit easier. If Kun is out 8 weeksish then the reworking strategy matters less, since too many varaibles between now and then

Mane more nailed on, who knows how long Wenger sticks with Theo.

With those fixtures, OOP and arsenal scoring freely very tempting. But Saints fixtures arent too bad themselves. Aargh decisions

Valid points on Walcott/Arsenal. I had both from the start & took them out on wild card. Would like to have both but will likely look to get Mane in if Mahrez minutes as have Sanchez already. That said looking at Pelle too so that could be my Soton coverage! Arrghh decisions lol

Mane for me, simply due to nailedness

The casuals don't know how lucky they are, most hadn't begun to give bringing Kun in any thought.

    A) Sturridge + Walcott
    B) Costa + Mane
    C) Lukaku + Mata
    D) Kane + Walcott?
Any other options? Already have Sanchez and Pelle

Looking for a troll striker on FIFA. Last year I used Andy Carroll.

So far I shortlisted Aspas, Balotelli and Bentdner. Any other suggestions?

    Sanchez KDB Payet Mahrez (Westwood)
    Aguero Igahlo Martial

Hi guys, I think we all agree that Aguero needs to go. Probably for Pelle\Lukaku, but I'm tempted to use all that cash for another improvement as well. I'm not scared of an-4. Would it be worth it to change Aguero + Igahlo -> Pelle + Lukaku? Or any other move? This extra cash is a curse. Thanks for any help.

All this talk of doing transfers now. Have you all remembered there is another round of fixtures during the week? Lol -4 becomes -8 becomes -12 etc etc etc. 😉

I agree did 2 trannys last sunday to grab price/drop. Seems very pointless now with the Kun news

How much is Aguero likely to drop by the next deadline? Im guarding a slender lead and already on -4 so was goin to use FT next week. Will bw playing Westwood. Alternative i am looking at is Sturridge but that will pit me on -8

Just take the hit in getting him out. He's out for 8 weeks and you could get a potentially explosive striker in right away. You'll probably need that FT for something else next week.
