This is one were the full quotes on Isak are so important. It sounds like he will be given an injection for the pain of the broken toe and could play.

Im on a WC with 3 FT. Actually very tempted to go without Halland this GW and play Salah+Watkins, then take them out next GW for Halland+under 6 mil mid.

Nope. Maybe below. Semenyo and Rogers could be downgraded to upgrade elsewhere.

      4.5, 4
      TAA, Gabriel, 4.5, 4.0, 4.0
      Salah, Saka, Mbeumo, Semenyo, Rogers
      Haaland, Ndaiye, Delap.

Not WC but my squad is :

      Sanchez - 4m
      Trent - Gabriel - Konsa - Faes - H-B
      Salah - Saka - Eze - ESR - Rogers
      Haaland - DCL - 4.5

And have money for Eze -> Mbeumo next week

      Best I could do is:

      Sels 4.0
      TAA Gabriel VdB Greaves Mykolenko
      Salah Saka Mbeumo Rogers Semenyo
      Haaland DCL 4.5

It's workable. But there are some fairly large sacrifices and no triple Arsenal.

Not my team but I could stretch to this if I had a WC left:

      Flekken 4.0
      Trent Gabriel Aina Lewis Greaves
      Salah Saka Mbuemo Rogers Winks
      Haaland DCL Pedro

I guess it relies on having the players pre price rises though

Newcastle will probably look to park the bus tomorrow. I would have guessed that may have benched Gordon or Barnes and packed midfield or defence. Maybe it's not worth risking Isak from the start and going with Gordon up front.

    1. Ausman

If they play that way prepare to get smacked 5-0. You have to be bold and put Man City under pressure, especially with Rodri missing. Force them to make decisions quickly and try and force errors.

Newcastle have had some decent home performances at SJP against Man City under Howe. Mainly backs to the wall and hitting on the break, whether by design or Man City just keeping the ball. Newcastle's press has been dreadful this season. Sometimes that space has helped Gordon and Isak on the counter.

That's exactly what Howe's said in the presser. So I'm actually expecting delivers from Gordon and Barnes.

You just cant win the league with this mentality. I understand when Arteta does not say whether Saka is fit before a big game. But hiding a GK (!!!) before Leicester??? And then you park the bus at Etihad with shameful 10% possession, remove your best player at half time, etc. What can you expect from players if the coach is shaking like a leaf. I am all for Arsenal to challenge City for the title but with such a mentality it is close to impossible.

Despite drawing at the Etihad with 10 men, Arsenal cannot possibly challenge for the title because [checks notes] I am mad that Arteta didn't answer a question in a way that allows me to pick a goalkeeper in a fantasy game.

Dont be so narrow minded. The team is not confident when their coach is always afraid of smth. We have seen so many teams at Etihad even this year. Brentford, Ipswich attacked more than Arsenal. And we saw many teams down 1 man at Eithad. None of them had 10% possession.

This affects the team mentality. They don't feel strong, don't feel the confidence of being on par with City. This is why they lose easy games at the wrong time. Confidence is extremely important in the title race.

Brentford, Ipswich, attacked more... and lost.
Arsenal look very confident and mentally strong at the moment. Time will tell of course, but I don't see a confidence problem at Arsenal this season.

          Well.. surely confidence is important.

Without Arsenal defense? Unless you are strongly confident they concede. Otherwise it is minus 12-20 points vs most players every week.

If Gabriel scores, it becomes 14-15 points. Plus 6-7 for Saliba. If non score/assist, you will get 12-14 from two.

But you are not netting off the two players he would have instead. If Gvardiol keeps a clean sheet and scores that’s also 14-15. So it works both ways.

      2. Skout
        • 6 Years
        1 year, 5 months ago

Can always do a -4 to get Gabriel or just wait until next week, but where does the 12-20 points come from that you mentioned?

Perhaps if Gabriel scores every week, or if you had 2 arsenal defenders keeping cleans, you might get c15 points including bonus

Gabriel is guaranteed 6 points with an upside for 15 if he scores. But the problem is that most players have 2 Arsenal def and you have none.

Not mad at Arteta at all. As a manager he can do whatever he wants of course. But as a serious title challenger, it would show confidence if he were clear. For example if Neto plays, what is the problem by saying that. They should beat Leicester anyway.

Thoughts on Watkins & Stewart in a 3-5-2? Will have to carry semenyo through tough fixtures in 8-10 though

So scrapping the floor for a Pedro replacement - 5.6m to spend

    A) Jimenez
    B) Ndiaye
    C) Strand Lausen
    D) Other???

Most likely will be a bench player with Rogers being played as 5th midfielder

      Go with B.
If you are benching most weeks anyway, might as well go with the most exciting option. Could be gold. Nothing to lose.

Good point, Jimenez hasn't had a good season in years, Larsen seems a fun pick too but Cunha is a better goal scorer

A If you must but I'd be inclined to roll and reassess next week. Also bear in mind the international break is after that so might make sense just to keep Pedro.

Love all this hate towards Arteta not giving a Raya update. I mean how dare he not know on a late call to play him or not just so you can make a fantasy football decision! If you think he’s playing mind games then obviously you think he’ll play, if you don’t then he doesn’t actually know which means neither do we.

Hey, don't try to talk to us with a voice of reason, we're here to vent, overanalyze and overthink.

Calafiori or Gabriel on wildcard? Sorry if that’s stupid question but he’s started last two games.
