A wave of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Wildcards are being deployed after the midweek conclusion of the FA Cup fifth round.

That’s because an earlier Wildcard looks much more viable now, with a squad much easier to set up to not only tackle and make the most of the blanks and doubles in Gameweeks 27-29 but even cope with Blank Gameweek 32.

The Bench Boost in Gameweek 29 also has added appeal, with no big doubles later in the campaign to rival it.

Of the site users we polled, just over 35% said they are planning to activate the chip in Gameweek 26.

So, we’ve put together three potential Gameweek 26 Wildcard drafts for you to consider: a Harry Kane (£11.7m) one, a riskier no-Erling Haaland (£12.2m) approach, plus a draft for those who have already used their Bench Boost.

READ MORE: FPL Gameweek 26 Wildcard: The pros and cons

THE KANE DRAFT

Two potential Wildcard drafts for FPL Gameweek 26
  • Six players who ‘double’ in Gameweek 27: Brentford’s David Raya (£4.8m), Ben Mee (£5.0m) and Ivan Toney (£7.6m), plus Lewis Dunk (£4.7m), Alexis Mac Allister (£5.4m) and Karou Mitoma (£5.3m) at Brighton and Hove Albion.
  • Dunk/Mac Allister or Mitoma could easily be Pervis Estupinan (£4.7m)/Solly March (£5.1m) if passed fit.

READ MORE: March v Mitoma v Mac Allister: Who is the best pick in FPL?

  • Nine players for Blank Gameweek 28, which can easily be turned into 10/11 using free transfers.
  • 10 Double Gameweek 29 players, with a squad perfectly suited to Bench Boost. Even those with just one fixture carry upside – for example, Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) is at home to Leeds United. In addition, Martin Odegaard (£7.0m) could potentially be transferred out for Bruno Fernandes (£9.8m), adding another ‘doubler’ to your squad.
  • 2 x Newcastle United defenders for their potential Double Gameweek 30/31.
  • A squad capable of coping with Blank Gameweek 32 without forcing a Free Hit.
  • If you aren’t comfortable picking Toney after he was charged over alleged breaches of the FA’s betting rules, which you can read more about here, Bryan Mbeumo (£5.8m) and Ollie Watkins (£7.3m) are decent replacements.

THE NO-HAALAND DRAFT

So much spoon feeding in recent years has made FPL less entertaining imo - Wdyt ?

I kept on trying but it never really felt interesting to me.

Spoon feeding makes rank recovery tough, thats about it. One bad week can take 3-4 good weeks to reach same ranks.

That's very true.. But this week "Spoon Feeding" and "FOMO" are being used alot because of most content creators are doing their WCs may be distract us from the fact that's great opportunity to WC before doubles... So it's can be something else which is "being stubborn in order not to listen to content creators or be a sheep".

Definitely. The kane draft is almost my exact team that i planned at the start of the week.

Not for me. My only real rival who I play with is more maverick than me! Two seasons now he bought Henry just before a nice haul. He WCed last week and got in Robinson for his assist and 2 bonus, as well as Emerson Royal's clean sheet. I'm lucky that my friends don't take it as seriously as me. But it does mean that a draft league is impossible, because everyone drops out before the end.

So actually, I'm saying that yes, it makes it less entertaining, but at the same time, it kind of levels the playing field. And so at the same time, exposes how bad a game FPL actually is.

English is such a good language! I never managed to find a better term for this. This is spoon feeding and chewing as well. I am fully with you.

You don't need to chew, that's kind of the point of baby food.

Unless you are talking about prior mastication and regurgitation, then yes, that's another delightful term for spoon-feeding and YouTube (that maybe I just came up with?).

The skill vs luck debate is something which comes up often. In my opinion a large part of being "skillful" was simply planning and having more information than the average player and being able to use that to your advantage.

Now that part of the game has all but gone. Sure there are other ways to be skillful (patience with transfers, knowing when to buy/sell, not chasing points, taking risks against highly owned players/captains), but the luck factor has definitely intensified in recent seasons.

On the flip side, you can use this to your advantage - essentially seeing what the "rest of the game" are doing and weighing up whether you'd be better off going against it (either blindly out of your hatred for the template or taking a more calculated approach in identifying the weak links).

TL:dr don't get hung about getting a top 10k finish because you have less control over that than you've ever had before.

For me, it's now got to the 'urgent' stage that they reduce the number of players you can have from any given team to two, not three.

That increases much-needed diversity of teams immediately and significantly.

I agree totally - mini leagues in particular are far less exciting these days with so much content and everyone accessing it. I'm not complaining (how could I as a user of the content), it is just the way it is.

I like content but so much of it is just repetitive. Am fed up with “GW Preview - A thread”, like every single content creator does nowadays. It is very accessible now though so definitely levels things up between those that plan and those that don’t.

Rashford is sooo overlooked this week. I guess because of the 2 lucky cleanies for Liverpool last week but that ain't fooling me. Konaté's return is the only thing putting me off slightly - if it were Jomez still I'd definitely be on Rashford.

      Yes, this.

My reasons for not wildcarding yet:
      - My team is already fairly template (I have 9 from the Kane draft + Saliba) and doing well
      - I'm decently set up for a bench boost, although it might take a hit or two to make it really nice
      - Not convinced 6 BHA+BRE is necessary given other strong fixtures in GW27
      - I suspect the best team for 30+ will be quite different from the 27-29 team.
      - By GW30 we'll have a much better idea of how GW34/37 will look

Still no idea when to FH though! Could be 32, 34, 37 or maybe even 33.

It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out but it pains me to see all these currently very decent teams being ripped apart to add DGW players because content creators say it’s the right thing to do.

I think the main reason (and it may be a valid one) why players are WC'ing now is to extricate themselves out of triple LIV, double EVE, sold Shaw/Bruno/Kane and zero BRE or BRI etc. That is probably the main motivation for doing it.

      Fair enough

After Man Utd, who Liverpool beat 4-0 at home last season they then face a Bournemouth side who they already beat 9-0 in the reverse fixture.

I bought Tark for the GW25 doubles and he got me 0 points. There will always be single GW players that outdo the doubles.

But it seems a herd mentality just to Wildcard now.

      A. Bournemouth & Southampton are the top 2 targets right now; wouldn't bench any Arsenal players (except maybe Nketiah)

    How is this WC looking?

    Sanchez, Ward
    Trippier, Gabriel, Estupinan, Mee, Botman
    Saka, Ødegaard, Rashford, Maddison, Mitoma
    Haaland, Kane, Toney

    Future transfer will be:

    GW28: Haaland to Watkins
GW29: Ødegaard and Gabriel to Bruno and Shaw
GW30: Toney and Watkins to Haaland and Grenwood for a hit

You can’t even get a proper discussion on this place anymore, if it’s not A or B questions may as-well not post

Pages fly too fast in the lead up deadline. Mon - Thurs is great for deeper discussions & they certainly do happen

Maddison if confirmed fit to start.

Ok, so I'm starting to lean towards wildcarding.
Any constructive feedback on this draft?
    Raya Navas
    Trippier Chilwell Zinchenko Shaw Estupinan
    Bruno Rash Saka Odegaard Mitoma
    Haaland Watkins Toney

Would think about Haaland to Kane in 28, but not sure on that yet.

Like that Navas pick (assuming BB29). Bruno starting to look a bit differential & still a great option. I think of Chilwell as perma-flagged but I wish you luck

Cheers guys. It's been put together without consuming too much content.
The only thing I wish I could have is Leicester, Maddison or Nacho, but just not sure where....

    Which combo do you prefer?

    1. Raya and Kepa
    2. Raya and Sanchez to have an extra DGW player that doesn't take a place in the BGW

    A) Mee and Botman
    B) Pinnock and Schar

With rotation pretty rife in the arsenal attack, despite 2 goals on Wednesday Martinelli's minutes could be at risk on Saturday as he was the only player to play the full game

Who would he be benched for though? Nketiah isn’t fully fit and Arsenal play worse with him starting.

    Kepa

    Emerson Tark Zinchenko
    Rashford Mahrez Martinelli Saka
    Haaland Nunez Kane

    Ward , Tripps, Robertson, March

    0.6ITB , 1FT , WC & BB still to play.

No idea where I’m going with this currently. Seen so much WC talk but with the blanks coming I’m not sure if it’s worth it yet? Any advice on when to play those chips considering I have no FH left.
This week I was thinking either A) roll
or B) Estu/Mee but I also don’t want to keep Nunez so toney is option C I guess.

Given Arsenal play Sporting Lisbon 3 days before week 27 and 3 days before week 28 does this make Gabriel and Ødegaard safer options than Zinchenko and Martinelli on WC?

I'm not sure Zinchenko will start all the games going forward.

He's easily injured and may need a rest

An argument could be made he needs to give mins to other plays like Nketiah, ESR, Tierney etc in the EL with the hectic schedule
