So many good 4.5 defenders make this front 7 quite appealing.

    Salah Palmer Foden Gordon
    Watkins Isak Havertz

This was one of my first thoughts. It does look good.

Covers all the big teams and Gordon as the flex slot for 7.5m gives lots of options.

But then you have no price-point-holder in your defence to move up.
If 4.5 deliver nothing but 5,5+ will begin to, you will not be able to move to them directly.

You will need additional FT and that might be a hard thing to do, if we will traditionally have multiple fires to put out (players not delivering, having minutes managed, other players getting on good run that you want to move to, etc).

Still early obviously, but I’ve gone eze over foden out of the gate which allows one big defender (Saliba). I’m sure foden will be in squad at some point though…

That extra 2.5 gets you a defense of

      4.5. 4.5
      6.0 4.5 4.5 4.5 4.0

Which I think is worth the foden to eze drop personally.

Not out of the gate no…

When the enablers emerge, will get one I’m sure but you can’t have them all from start.

Palmer is too good and pool’s opening fixtures too tempting

Owned gvardiol for his whole run last year, won me the league. Would still grab an arsenal guy over him personally

Havertz to Muniz feels like a bigger drop than foden to eze for me. I’m willing to see if CP can keep the vibes even post olise transfer…

How do I have Rashford in my team...

Really struggling to settle on a midfielder in the 6.5m/7.0m bracket. Who do you like best in that tier?

Debating Martinelli, Rashford, Garnacho, Johnson, Gibbs-White, Bailey, Nkunku, even Rice

Garnacho is the one for me. Started a lot of games last season and returned well for a young kid. Expect improvement and will be hyped up after winning with Argentina, even though his minutes were limited (good for fpl).

I think Garnacho is a super overhyped pick. He got 7g/7a last year in 2564 mins. Mbeumo got 9g/7a in 1957 mins. Bailey got 10g/11a in 2063 mins.

There are lots of more prolific players at that price tier. Garnacho's actual output is actually completely mediocre. It's only because he plays for United that people are touting him.

        1. Mirror Man
          • 1 Year

I expect him to improve a lot. He's 20. If you don't then yeah he isn't the one.

I'd rather wait and see that improvement on the pitch. He could up his game but there is no indication so far that he's going to push 175+ points and get into the Bowen, Gordon tier of players. He could but let's see how it goes.

I think there are better in that bracket. I'd probably take about 10 players ahead of him to start the season that are at his price or lower.

Only one for me is Nkunku, benched 1st game for a 4th def and basically see what happens
No one else interests me at that price point

Its a gamble but trying to save tfrs and at 6.5 tbh could be an absolute bargain

    7. Eyes of Blue

Based on the early fixtures I think MGW is a solid pick. Even further down you could look at CHO. Ended the season really strongly and if he picks up where he left off he could be a bargain at 5.5m.

I feel Kudus is the best 6.5m option.....we haven't seen much from Nkunku so not really inclined to go there at the start.....if you can afford 0.5m more, then, Mbeumo is a good shout and potentially on pens if Toney goes

        I strongly disagree.
£15.0m and only two 'easy' fixtures from the opening five, doesn't reflect good value.

Pretty happy with this one, what do you say?

    Pickford
    Gvardiol, Burn, Mykolenko

    Isak, Havertz

    Fabianski, Konsa, Andersen, Fraser

If he continues the form from his last 10 weeks of previous season, he is a very good option. Basically Man Utd's version of Palmer, everything goes through him. Friendlies will tell more, of course

I like it. Pickford is an interesting choice. But a Dyche GK is never a bad shout.

Not much to critique really. Bruno isn't for me but he's certainly capable and if United get their act together he could be great value.

        Cheers Camzy!
Yea he and Rogers are the risky ones. Rogers ofc has less pressure to deliver due to price, but I'm kind of banking on Bruno to continue form he had in the last quarter of last season, where he was Palmer-like for United side.
Fixtures also not too bad. He can be the flex player

This could be an interesting different tactic : Team for week 1-5 picking players with good fixtures and then move most out week 6 when fixtures turn to get the template.

CHO > Andreas week 2 then no FT after

Wc week 6 when fixtures turn bad for Forest, fulham , Liverpool ,Brighton and 3 FT week 7 to play with

    Short term team
    Henderson
    Burn / Gvardiol/ TAA/ Konsa/ 4mil
    Gordon Salah MGW CHO 4,5
    Pedro Isak Haaland

One of the biggest differences between those who have tried to fit Haaland and Salah into their team, is that their bench is atrocious.

Clearly not planning on building up their FTs and hoping they dont have any immediate issues to deal with.

Alot of managers seem to be planning hoping on and off players and in my experience planning your transfers before a ball is kicked leaves you becoming unstuck.
    need
Give yourself the best chance to a good start by being flexible within your squad minimising the need to use your early FTs. (imo)

i think given the following :

      1) Haaland and Salah having the best captain options short term
      2) Fixtures been only Ok for Arsenal and Chelsea short term
      3) The likes of Fulham / Forest / Liverpool having nice fixtures up to week 6
      4) As every year a template will take time to emerge and WC around week 4 -8

then doing a short term fixture targeted approach to have both Haaland and Salah short term and then move then out with an early WC can work fine

      1. FPL_RubberDucky
        • 1 Year
        1 year, 4 months ago

Back in the day i always used my WC very very early, with varying degrees of success (normally) nothing special.

I just dont think it is necessary this season, and what an advantage it could be to keep it for around 10 weeks or when disaster really strikes your team.

        1. FPL_trail_runner
          • 5 Years
          1 year, 4 months ago

It always depends on how close you are to the template

Hard to tell now of course but i can see reasons to WC around week 6

Dump Liverpool (Salah), Haaland, get triple Arsenal, etc with more balanced team

Also by then any obvious new must haves will have emerged

          1. FPL_RubberDucky

First spin, open to both constructive and unconstructive criticism
    Areola

    Salah Odegaard Gordon Bruno F
    Toney Haaland Joao Pedro

    Fabianski Anderson Harwood-Bellis Winks

Madness to go without Palmer? Happy with my team aside from that... (currently voting yes on the Haaland issue)

    Henderson (Iversen)
Van de Ven Saliba Castagne (Faes Martinez)
    Salah Gordon Nkunku Hudson-O (Rogers)
    Haaland Watkins Muniz

1m itb could do Gordon to Odegaard

Too weak?? Or decent enough to start with?

I would have one of Nkunku and CHO and go for a bit more of a steady eddie alongside

    Sanchez | 4
    Gvardiol | Munoz | Konsa | Henry | 4
    Salah | Gordon | Eze | Gibbs-White | 4.5
    Haaland | Isak | Muniz

Surprisingly confident in my Haaland+Salah draft.

Nailed cheap players that are talismanic to their teams seem to have favourable fixture runs early on. Eze, MGW and Muniz can easily match some of the overworked premiums who I have doubts will hit the ground running (Saka, Foden etc)

Armstrong the likeliest candidate imo. 24 goals last season and on pens

Not a striker but there's some talk of Ipswich's Leif Davis. 4.5m DEF who plays very far up the pitch and got assists by the bucketload last season. But then it is Ipswich, and that's the same price as Ait-Nouri, so...

Don’t get the fuss of 5 FTs. Changes nothing for active managers. There is always next bandwagon to jump on and building tv before christmas is essential.

This. I think a lot is being made of this when realistically, it just gives you a few more strategic options. It shouldn't change how you play the first weeks of the season.

I'm still going to look to take hits if I think it's beneficial for team value and getting on bandwagons early. I'm also gonna roll FTs if I'm happy with my team and if that means I roll 2, 3, or 4, then that's what I'll do, but I'm not going to lock myself into plans that involve multiple weeks of rolling FTs with an in-depth mini wildcard planned 4 weeks down the line.

The whole change is made for casuals to keep them interested. Altough it might come handy on later stage of season when chips are usually played.

I partly agree and disagree. Saving transfers is usually extremely difficult, but now taking -4 to get rid of two injured players might be better idea than before, since the possibility to save transfer week after is worth more imo. However, saving transfers early in the season is going to be as difficult as ever. Yet, saved transfers allow later some hokey pokey tactics possibilities with captaincy. If I had already enough extra transfers, I would get Haaland for gw2 for example.

Go with the Haaland or Haalandless team?

    Sanchez - 4.0
    Gvardiol - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.0
    Salah - Palmer - Foden - Eze - Garnacho
    Isak - Havertz - 4.5

    Sanchez - 4.0
    Gvardiol - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.0
    Salah - Nkunku - Trossard - Gordon - 4.5
    Haaland - Isak - Wood

Haaland team has 0.5 itb, and blanks will be filled based on fixture rotation and likelihood of game time.

Prefer the Håland version but there are better options than Trossard and Gordon.

      1. The Tonberry

Plenty of options for 6.5 to 7.5 midfielders to choose from, so could be subject to change.

Trossard gives a cheaper route into Arsenal's attack and he was getting game time and returns towards the end of last season - I like him as a sort of a differential.

      Pretty poor in my opinion

Lots of their players played long or were in squads in Euros and Copa until last weekend so late back to preseason

Plus you add fixtures away to City + Villa and also home to Brighton who have bought well while others having better fixtures ( Liverpool) for me its a Wildcard into Arsenal week 6 and then have Saka back to fitness and see if Timber can get into the team

Think it’s a monitor for now for reasons trail runner says.

Damage shouldn’t be too bad if they keep a few cleans. Don’t see many having double Ars defence and little attacking upside
