    GUYS I NEED YOUR HELP!

I accidentally activated my card wildcard when I was irritated from my last GW score. Can I undo it? I haven't made any transfer yet (I have 2 f/t). I got panicked, I didn't plan to use it this week. Can I cancel it or is it a sign from god I should use it now? haha

If God's getting involved in FPL then that explains a lot of what's going on in the world while his back is turned.

Your wildcard is not locked in until you confirm the use of it when confirming a transfer. Once that's done, you can't cancel it.

I don’t think so. If you can’t, IMO I would build the team for week 6. This week 5 is difficult with not many standout fixtures for any of the teams but week 6 is a big swing. I’m not expecting to do brilliantly this week and just writing this down means the opposite will happen but I think it’ll be a low scoring week this week.

      Can I cancel my wildcard?
No. Once you have confirmed your wildcard it is final and can’t be reversed under any circumstances

I think if u have not made any transfers which would otherwise result in a hit u can cancel it

FFS both Isak and Pedro - "we'll make a late call".

Ideally would bring in Watkins, but which of the 2 to coose, hwichever I go with I know will play and the one I kept will be benched or not even turn up.

If they both don't play, HarwoodBellis will come off the bench vs Ipswich

For a draft league, which player would you pick from this "bottom of the barrel list"

    Sugawara
Davis (thinking about Ipswiches good fixtures)
    Szmodics
    Larsen
    Nketiah

Massive call for Neale this week to decipher Edward as a Newcastle fan and get the Isak call right.

It's a 50/50 guess. There is nothing to decipher. Howe said that Isak is a doubt. Make sure you read the text under Neale's predicted lineup.

After 4 Gameweeks (ignoring captain, no transfers)

Best 40m for 4 attackers (reasonable choices from week 1)
    Haaland/Salah/ESR/Wissa: 146 points

    Popular choices at Week 1
    Haaland/Salah/Nkunku/Muniz: 114 points

    Best no Haaland/Salah premium set-up
    Palmer/Saka/Son/Havertz: 106 points

Conclusion: Starting without the Haaland/Salah double-up was not the right choice.

Best reasonable 3 defenders with 2 5.0+ and one 4.5
    Gabriel/TAA/Dalot(!): 70 points

      There's a big hole in this... you haven't looked at Salah / no-Haaland, or Haaland / no-Salah?

That is true. It gets more complicated doing it that way because then you have to consider the attackers in the 7/7.5m range.

It's way more nuanced than that. There are plenty of Haaland - Salah drafts that I'm beating even though I didn't start with Salah.

And there are also quite a few Salah only drafts that are ahead of me. It's really the combination of players that you ended up picking. Going Gabriel for instance is quite a big factor and then whether you kept or sold Saka in GW4.

Your forwards also weigh in quite a lot. If you went for Solanke and then switched to Muniz you were really shafted compared to the guys that went Wood or Havertz as their 3rd fwd (assuming most people started with Isak).

You're absolutely right it is more nuanced than that, and much of it comes down to which enablers/premiums you picked.

What you point to is that other choices matter a lot as well. The idea came from looking at what tradeoffs a Haaland/Salah draft required. That is where the 40m limit came from (Haaland/Salah/6.5/6). This JUST looks at the best choices of spending 40m on 4 attackers, that is all, and yes, it completely ignores transfers.

Quick look at my spreadsheet indicates that Haaland and Salah have outscored everyone else by so much, and Wissa and ESR have been good enough, that I don't think any other reasonable combination that cost less 40m or less would have outperformed it, if that makes sense. At least through 4 gameweeks, the Haaland/Salah combination, with the right enabler choices, is better than any other group of four as far as I can tell.

        Correction:

Haaland/Diaz/Saka/Wissa or Mbeumo would have bettered or matched Haaland/Salah/ESR/Wissa: 148 and 146 points, respectively and cost under 40m

None of the Salah only teams I could see would equal this, but you could have had 137 points with Salah/Dias/Saka/Wissa or Palmer.

Yeah you're probably right. Maybe something with Diaz/Havertz/Mbuemo might have got close, or maybe it would need extra transfers. But certainly my own Salah / no-Haaland combo is trailing...

My no-Salah/no-Haaland gambit did not work out at all. Saka has been good. Palmer and Havertz each had 1 good week and 1 decent one.

The problem is that the rest of the "premiums" either had only one good week so far (Son, De Bruyne, Watkins) or none at all (Bruno, Foden, Odegaard).

Over the long run, however, I think these "premiums" will distance themselves from the lower end enablers (ESR, MGW, Garnacho, CHO, Wood, Pedro, Wissa, Welbeck, DCL, Madueke). The question is whether they will do so enough to make up for not having Haaland and/or Salah.

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 4 Years

FWIW, I think the gap between Salah/Haaland and the semi-premium/mid-pricers is probably as extreme as it will get right now. 10.8 / 13.5 PPM just isn't sustainable, even for the super-elite.

I'm sticking with my plan of just owning one of them for now (at least up to GW12) & ditching Salah for Haaland next week on WC. Hopefully Arsenal picks & maybe Foden & Bowen will start to stage the comeback!

    Henderson
    Dunk, Robinson, Mykolenko

I have 2ft and was planning to save the FT this week making it 3 FT next week

Based on Eze or Kudus’s performance this week, i was planning on removing hendo, eze/kudus, isak and bring Raya, mbuemo, Solanke if eze or 7.2 and lower forward if kudus next week

But if Isak doesn’t play, I really don’t have any bench (Winks, Harwood, Johnson)

I have exact fund to do Isak to Watkins(c).

Is watkins as captain from Haaland this week worth 4 points hit next week to bring Raya and Mbuemo?

interesting. Also almost every shot goes in. But Newcastle havent been brilliant so far, still winning games though and scoring a couple on the way. I still prefer Gordon though for 1m more, nailed and starts in any of the 3 forward roles.

      1. F4L
        • 10 Years
        1 year, 2 months ago

fair enough. just think his time is now, Howe cant keep benching him, he needs people who can put the ball in the net in attacking areas with Wilson a sick note, and Isak struggling. got Gordon right now, good pick like him alot, unlucky not to get 9 last GW.

but Barnes carries higher goal threat imo if he becomes a starter. its Barnes and Garnacho, both only 6.4 yet out of all the wingers in the league you won't find many that'll so regularly find themselves in goal scoring positions. the pair so cheap as well, starting to think about money in defence so if these 2 could match the 7/7.5s, then its very helpful.

    2. Hairy Potter
      • 10 Years
      1 year, 2 months ago

Yeah, he's pretty greedy in terms of shooting so could get some hauls. He isn't the hardest worker off the ball, which might be the reason he isn't always nailed. If Isak is out, he might be a better punt than Gordon, if the latter is through the middle.

cheers, ah good point about work rate. gonna monitor how he does this GW and then maybe bring him in, if scores 3 games in a row surely keeps him in the side.
