FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

Apart from the next 2, newcastle have alright fixtures. But Chelsea have good fixtures also and sturridge seems nailed on.

I would swap out ba to sturridge this week and you can always change back in the January WC if your not happy with sturridge.

Likewise! All logical signs point to this being the correct time to get rid and Chelsea have great fixtures coming up. As much as Ba has been knocking 'em in, it still hurt when Sturridge was scoring as well and couldn't fit him in!

Repost, got lost on the bottom of the last page..

For the DGW, would you go with BAE, Walker or Friedel? I’ve gone with Friedel because I had the extra cash and I think he’s the most secure. Also, attacking results generally cancel out with save points. Thoughts?

Potentially big problem... should i take a 4 point hit to change something, maybe tott defender in to hopefully guarentee 11 players play- my team is linked but still:
    krul
    baines raylor verm
    drenthe etherington nani(c) bale
    rvp (v) roo sturrd

vorm caulker (not elijable) evansw (inj) allen

allen would potentially be first sub - vs tott??? 2 pointer most likely
4 point hit to change evans to gallas ??
seems stupid but if gallas play +cs = 6 point - covered my 4 point hit to get a tott in for dgw

seems like my squad is thin.....problem is adebayor has to come in for the dgw.... so using my avail 0.6mil to upgrade defense seems realllllly hard to do as i am thinking sturr to ade.... or should i really consider keeping evans and hope he is back sooner, rooney out for ade so can upgrade elsewehere easily

seems easiest option but after i had blinders of transfers at begining - rvp in at 11.9 baines in b4 2x10+ point gwks i have had 2 awful weeks of transfers, lost my no.1 spot in mini league and really feel like the need to wc as soon as possible....

    please instill some confidence... anyone>???

next week with 2 frees do roo and maybe evans or caulker to ade and walker

i think i just convinced myself of the logical answer!

yep, i would do that personally. it gives you 5 players for the double as well without any hits, plus your team this week is strong anyway. the concern is subs though if RVP doesn't play..

I'd say its not worth downgrading Nani full stop. dgw may or may not reap returns. I'd assume you must have one of Ade/Bale/VdV in your squad already. If not, I'd suggest looking at the rest of your midfield Nani aside and switch up elsewhere.

First of all, i appreciate in informative reply, don't usually get stuff like that. Nice one.

I have 0.1 in the bank and 2FT. Need to get rid of 1 this week really (maybe Dyer downgrade, like you suggested). Ferguson isn't something i thought about with the upcoming WC, definitely something to consider.

Dyer > Ferguson leaves me 0.6 to play with and 2FT next week. Still not sure where to go with them but i guess it gives me some time to decide.

True ... I mean it's a risk, but it looks to me like you will have 11 players playing anyway so it's worth thinking about if you're desperate for ££.

Best of luck whatever you decide anyway, monitor the Gallas situation too - if he starts this GW I think he will start both in the double and he is cheaper than Ekotto.

This is the first week Redknapp will have had all of King, Kaboul and Gallas fit and available by my reckoning.

Yeah. I'm a Spurs and i don't what his preferred pairing is. King if fit + one of them two. Would be awesome if Gallas or Kaboul was nailed on as i could afford one of them with money to spare then.

Wish you hadn't mentioned VDV aswell. Now i'm not even sure if i want Spurs defensive cover. Kinda wish a Silva > VDV downgrade would allow me to get in a Spurs defender aswell, bloody 3 player rule.

I've come up with another silly idea.

                    Dyer > Ferguson this week.

                    Silva > Drenthe
                    Evans > BAE
                    Any other defender > Baines

For a 4 point hit. Leaves me with 3 player coverage. Worth it or not?

Haha it's quite nice for the short term isn't it and could easily pay off.

Do you need to do the Dyer to Ferguson move to afford it? How about if it was Gallas instead of Ekotto? If not, you could leave that one to avoid the hit but it does mean Silva --> Drenthe this week.

I think I've probably just confused you more - apologies.

If i get Gallas instead of Assou-Ekotto without downgrading Dyer, it leaves me 8.0 so i can afford Baines. Awesome. I really do need to be sure of Gallas playing both games though.

      Vorm for save points.

Krul cos LIV aren't very free flowing offensively ATM, and with Suarez out.

Still think both will concede, Vorm 3 points, Krul 2 points.

I wouldn't worry. Your 11 plays his 10 (no subs, suarez suspended). Aguero could well be rested, then he has no captain or vc.

Don't see villa or bolton keeping a cleanie, can see newcastle sneaking a goal at anfield.

And there you have a very one sided cup win
