FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

I wanna know if he's allowed his zimmer frame on the field.

This is the guy who was "too tired" to score a goal in a Champions League final - about FIVE years ago.

He'll score two goals in his two months... and everyone stupid enough to get him will be crowing.

When, in fact, someone like Fletcher or Morison or Graham or any Championship-standard striker will be much better value.

Yep, I'm not interested at all. He's a 1 in 2 striker in MLS now, that won't be good enough for FPL, especially as he'll be priced at 8m or so

I completely see the point about his pace and fitness, but I'll go ahead and say the old football adage...class is permanent.

It'll be a morale boost to the team and if he displays some the skill we all know he's capable of, he's certainly not a bad person to have on the bench.

Pretty sure a 37 year age difference between Henry and Pele voids this argument.

Yes, Henry is getting older now but he's still got class, all be it to a less standard to his prime but he's still a damn good player.

Arsenal aren't loaning him thinking he's incredible but knowing it's good for the team and that he's got good play in him still.

Personally in the 'keep JEvans' camp, surely you have at least 3 to play at the back?

Welbeck probably to get gametime at Blackburn, so personally no on that one.

Similar situation to me. Currently JEvans, Verm, Wilkinson - expect Simpson to come in for JEvans, altho if Wilko misses out its a fat zero for one of my defenders.

There's talk that Shotton isn't even nailed on so may end up a wasted transfer. I may still use my freebie for a new defender that said. I need Spurs coverage to.

Welbeck I'd definitely keep hold of. Threadbare Blackburn at home.

Agreed. Parker's been playing up a storm in the middle of the park for the mighty Lilly Whites, but ain't worth a bag of bones on FPL.

In other news, my genius Man U double-up of Smalling and Evans two weeks ago has been astoundingly productive. Especially considering I got rid of Evans for BAE earlier in the week. So pleased I kept Smalling. Good call!

lol that's pretty rough luck. Defenders have been a nightmare lately. In the past 2 weeks I started Jones, Richards and Evans - all started the games, teams went on to get clean sheets in each of them. Combined total of 1 point! Nightmare.

Could you get away with holding on to smalling til the wc? Evans won;t be back for a couple of games anyway so might not end up being a biggie hopefully!

You hit the bar, it's Matthias Sindelar of the Austrian wunderteam of the 30s. He might be on his way out though, had him for longer than he deserves because of his... natural good-looks.

Wouldn't mind replacing him with either of those you suggested, Blanchflower after all spoke the words that is probably my all time football quote.

'The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.'

Having trouble picking my defenders this week.
Should i play Enrique home to newcastle this week or Kompany away to sunderland.

    The other 2 are
Walker (thinking possibly could be a 0-1, 0-2 at Swansea)
    Shotton (Home to Wigan)

    Any help would be appreciated.

2 things to note for the future on the fallers:

-Schwarzer looks like falling to 4.7, will be an absolute bargain when he comes back 🙂
-Andy Johnson also falling to 4.7, if he moves in january could be a nice cheap forward, albeit a very unproven and inconsistent one.

At the beginning of last year, every man (including me) and his dog had Boselli in their Week 1 lineup. Strong record in Argentina, came over here, played a handful of games and didn't score a single goal.

We all had so much faith in SEB for some reason, and he only scored about 2 goals all season. A bit like Moses this season, he was one of those players we kept playing even if he did nothing.

    Krul (Vorm)
    Richards Jones Enrique (Brown) (Simpson)
    Nani Silva Bale Drenthe (Dyer)
    RVP Adebayor Ba

    2FT's + 0.6m.

Ba>Sturridge is likely to be done tonight before the price rise, any other suggestions?

Was thinking of bringing in a Spurs defender for the dgw but it would likely involve getting rid of one of Richards/Jones/Enrique which I'm reluctant to do. Replace Dyer possibly? Or should I just save the 2 for next gw?
