FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

          If that's the only difference you can think of, then that tells you that your team is very generic.

          Not that that's a bad thing, but it is pretty much the same as everyone elses.

    Only 1FT so gonna be taking some hits this week, but how many??

    How many of these moves seem like good business?

    A) Ramsey -> Drenthe/Osman
    B) Silva -> Bale
    C) Ba -> Sturridge
    D) Evans -> Spurs defender

    Probably going to get all the aforementioned in at some point, it's just a question of how many are worth doing now. Ade is the only DGW player I have atm. Thoughts please!

        Thanks. I'll definitely do the defender next week. Ramsey has been useless ever since I've had him and now he doesn't seem to be a starter - don't know if that justifies a 4 point hit though.

            hmm i could do actually, its a teaser for sure, but just cant ignore RVP's ability to score if he starts, then again i do need a differential to overtake my two top rivals leading the way. hmm what to do lol, think i'll just leave demps as vc for now.

    Krul
    Vermaelen, Jones, Shawcross
    Nani, Valencia, Bale, Drenthe
    RVP(c), Adebayor, Sturridge

    Team, subs and captain good to go for tomorrow?

    Vorm
    Evans Jones Enrique
    Silva Drenthe Bale Nani
    RVP(c) Sturridge Adebayor
    subs - Hennessey, McAuley, Simpson, B.Johnson

    Main points of debate are:

    1. McAuley vs Simpson to (likely) come in for Evans
    2. Vorm vs Hennessey. I really fancy Tottenham at Swansea but i have too many scars from benching Vorm in the past!
    3. Captain?!?

    PS: Got 1.2m in the bank if you can see anything that needs doing, would cost me 4 points though so better be good!! 😀

    I've got a dilemma. I'm getting up at 3:45am (my time) to watch the toon v liverpool game. Do you think that its necessary to get up half an hour earlier to check the teamsheets before the deadline? If Ba plays, he stays, if he doesn't he will get shipped for sturridge. I reckon that he will play.

      if your gettin up that early to watch the match anyway I'd say get up the extra 30 min and pour a pint, keep Ba and root him on to victory

      I still haven't sold him, but have loaded the Ba-->Ade transfer twice since arriving home form work

      I'd say save your transfer then next week do Walters and Given to Drenthe and Howard.. Or Friedel if you can afford

    If you had to choose between jones (already on my team) or BAE (4 point hit to get) for the double game week, who would you go with? I wouldn't do the transfer until next week.

      Yes. I'm doing it.

      Sturridge has better fixtures and can't see Ba doing scoring against two very tough defences unless he gets a pen

    Would appreciate any advice on this:

    Before GW19:
    Eagles->Brunt

    Before GW20:
    Rooney->Sturridge
    Brunt->VDV

    Team ATM:
    Vorm/Krul
    Kompany/Enrique/Jones/Shotton/N. Taylor
    Silva/Bale/Walters/Eagles/Ferguson
    RVP/Adebayor/Rooney

    Morning lads!

    Vorm
    Enrique Evans Shotton
    Nani Silva Bale Mata
    RVP Studge Ba
    Subs – Given Moses Simpson Brown
    2 FT 0.2 Bank WC available

    Which transfers would you do for GW19?

    A. Silva > Osman & Evans > Walker (then Ba > Ade in GW20)
    B. Silva > Osman & Ba > Ade (then Brown/Evans > Walker in GW20)
    C. Silva > VDV & Evans > BAE (allowing me to stick with Ba till he swans off)

      If youve already got Studge, then dont move Ba yet. I only did this week because its my plan once Ba goes to the ACON, and Studges fixtures seem better until then, so might as well catch the price rises. Im already panicking about Ba might do the next 2 GWs I guess Im recommending C then.
