Monitor – Gareth Bale

With Eden Hazard flourishing and attracting huge Fantasy investment, Tottenham’s Gareth Bale is already in danger of becoming a forgotten man just a couple of Gameweeks into the season. The Welshman returned double figures for both goals and assists last term and began the season hotly tipped to contest the top position in the midfield rankings. However, already we’re seeing Fantasy managers lose faith, no doubt shifting allegiance to Chelsea’s Belgian.

The arrival of Andre Villas-Boas has, to this point, failed to spark Spurs and Bale has epitomised their slow start to the season. With a hefty price tag around his neck, it’s clear that Fantasy managers cannot sit still on an ailing heavy-hitter but are the doubters right to shed Bale and move on?

      I have Bale and I think - although a bit frustrated - that he needs a week or two with an actual team on the field to best judge his FPL potential. With some strikers in there it will open the way to assists and goals. If not, he'll be gone. But he has a few more weeks for me.

Can someone explain to me how the moment I change my team e.g. make a double transfer, the value of my team drops a little. Seen it drop from 100.5 to 99.7. What gives? Surely it would take time i.e. relying on other transfers to give an accurate team value as only then will player prices change?

  If players have gone up in value, you only realize half the rise when you sell them.
