Monitor – Hatem Ben Arfa

Filed under: Members - Posted by: Paul

A series of eye-catching performances in the last few months of the previous campaign had Fantasy managers queuing up to acquire the services of Hatem Ben Arfa. Having struggled to convince Alan Pardew of a regular role in the Newcastle starting XI, the Frenchman finally flourished on Tyneside as Newcastle moved to 4-3-3 but while a shift back to 4-4-2 has benefitted Demba Ba this season, Ben Arfa hasn’t quite delivered.

The opening three Gameweeks had looked promising. Notching in each of his first two home matches, Ben Arfa seemed set to rack up the points but since grabbing his side’s only goal in the Gameweek 3 draw with Villa, his Fantasy owners have been served up nothing more than a solitary assist.

      1. i think his points total is good so far yeh hes not peak torres but still an option

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. I would have Mata and Torres or Hazard and Torres, I have Hazard and Torres

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. I don't think that ba will be out for two long, I reckon he will be back in for next week

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. hopefully he is quality

hes is the leader of my budget strikeforce and with no ACON for him its all good.

    1. Do you have Begovic?

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. yes

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. Then I would say Cuellar or Nelson, unless you want to double up with Stoke which would be fine

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          1. I'm leaning towards either Cuellar or Nelson, any opinion on which is better? Cuellar looks better long term but Nelson's fixtures over the next three are good

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
            1. Where have all the gravs gone?

              • 2 years, 1 month ago
              1. It's a ghost town!

                • 2 years, 1 month ago
            2. Prefer Sunderland to QPR to keep cleanies. I have Nelson but planning on keeping him benched mostly, will be getting Cuellar in shortly. In time for the string of easy home fixtures and DGW.

              1. P.S. I'm looking at Newcastle/Sunderland rotation. But need to figure out if Williamson is nailed on.

                • 2 years, 1 month ago
                1. I have had Cueller and Saylor from the beginning of the season. Simpson maybe the safest bet to rotate with Cueller.

  4. lads

do you think a budget strikeforce with no 9 million + striker is viable to have a good finishing position

    Ba Berbativ Fletcher

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. RVP is essential imo. Always up for the armband

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. Think you need one "guaranteed "goal scorer over a season, RVP is a machine.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  5. I think what some people forget is fletchers last 3 games have all been really tough ones

    City away
    newcasle home
    stoke away

and he scored in all the games before the tricky games.

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. Sunderland are very uncreative. There are better options

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  6. Evening all.

Anyone get the lowdown on Williamson? Has he taken Saylors spot? If so he would slip into my team very nicely.

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. He seems to have done for the moment. But for how long is the gamble.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Bah, that's what I feared and what people on earlier told me. Was hoping someone with Pardew's ear could tell me otherwise as it will allow me to get in Tony V/Theo Walcott for Nolan.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. Saylor played in the Europa league right before the league match. Idk how Pardew will be using him in the future. Santon is the safest bet. Saylor gets injured a lot.

  7. Who will outscore over course of season

    Ba or Berba??

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
      • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. If he stays at Newcastle, then definitely Demba Ba. If he makes the move to Liverpool in January, then that could change.

“Last year was quite open for me, I was in good positions, but I was quite lucky because I was getting free kicks and some penalties as well.”
