The Numbers Game – Attacking Full-Backs

Filed under: Members - Posted by: Mark

With clean sheets so scarce again this season, Fantasy managers have been largely forced to look to their defenders for attacking returns. With budget options also proving popular acquisitions, there is a drive to identify those defenders who can perhaps offer supplementary points to add to those rare occasions when they can keep their opponents at bay.

Thankfully, the role of the modern-day full-back in the Premier League also appears to have changed, with the emphasis now on joining the attack and helping provide a stream of opportunities for others.

In this latest article for our members, we cast an eye over those full-backs who have recently impressed in this area, assessing those most likely to deliver those occasional assists that can make all the difference to our Gameweek totals.

  1. Begovic
    Baines – Gibbs – Nelsen
    Sessegnon – Fellaini – Cazorla – Michu
    Suarez – Aguero – Berbatov

    Foster - Simpson - Cuellar - Puncheon, 1 FT, 2.2 in bank.

Good to go ? any suggestions ?

Plan is to get Bale and Mata in for Sess and Cazorla next week.

    1. Lack of Utd cover would be my only worry! Nice team otherwise.

  3. Was just watching this article from a sports newspaper(warning: not very reliable information) where AVB and Bale talked to this referee about those diving yellows and AVB, in Bales defense, said that most of them were made so Bale could avoid some injury that could put his carrer in danger. Furthermore this piece ends up saying that Bale has been injured for the past 2 weeks but he´´ll be available for the next match though starting on the bench.

Doesn´t give much more than that ;) at the end of Bales tweet, but it does give a bigger picture of what´s to happen Sunday.

  5. I was getting annoyed trying to figure out who to bring in and I think it's because none of the players for this week I really want especially when Bale/Mata are back on the agenda next week. FT is getting carried over.

Right now to my (c) choice.

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. Always good to have 2FT in the festive period.

      • 2 years, 4 days ago

    I Have Enrique,Ridgwell,Demel as a backline this week...(all injured)
Add to that i have Fletcher who's dropping today so i must get rid if i want to say some cash...
Thinkin abt my forwards more than my backline...
1 ft 3.5 milll in the bank.. Fletcher--->Suarez Yay or Nay?

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. I am probably going to do it, and also have def issues to deal with.
Off out in half an hour or so - planning on making decision when i get back in later.

Suarez looking likely, but I don't like him and his last 3 have been poor.

Depending on defence choices I may end up with Tevez or Defoe for the price.

      • 2 years, 4 days ago
    2. i just did the same and suarez is VC to my team

      1. Correct. You win £5.

        • 2 years, 4 days ago
  10. So, Ridgewell.

Stick or twist? I'm looking in the 5.6 price range.

Do we know if he's been training?
If he's likely back next week, I think I'll keep.

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. He's worth keeping if you already have him and are able to field an ok defence without him. Put him in your starting lineup in case he starts, I think West Brom will stay fairly tight at the back over the next few GWs.

      • 2 years, 4 days ago
      1. Cheers!

        That's exactly my thinking.
Was just wondering if there were any indications of serious injury.

        • 2 years, 4 days ago
  11. Is Walcott taking any part in this weeks game??? And what about Sterling??? What would be an ideal replacement for Walcott at this stage??? Really need help...Lots of casualties in my team...

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. nobody knows about walcott.

      • 2 years, 4 days ago

    RVP, Tevez or Saurez

  13. Who is the best budget defender (

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. Something weird going on with my posts. Best def for under 5.0?

      • 2 years, 4 days ago
      1. hard to ignore Bassong at 5

        • 2 years, 4 days ago
  14. So I have sess, swap him for:

    A. Dempsey
    B silva
C keep him and get sagna/g.johnson and get mata next week

    Bego ruddy
    Baines rafael simpson (cuellar gorks)
    Sess sterling fellaini michu (puncheon)
    Rvp suarez berba

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. C for me. though silva is tempting..

      • 2 years, 4 days ago
    2. C without doubt

      • 2 years, 3 days ago
  15. Tevez, Defoe or Suarez?

I am all of a sudden leaning away from Suarez...

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
      • 2 years, 4 days ago
  16. Gorkss or Cuellaar to GJ?

I will have more money in the bank if I sell Cuelaar. Will Cuelaar step up from the bench if needed in the festive period or he is waste of space having in mind the fixtures?

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. Will Gorkss play this week with Morrison injured?

      • 2 years, 4 days ago
      1. He didn't play midweek. I presume sure not. He is out of favor obviously

        • 2 years, 4 days ago
  17. Rover good luck in the cup. I think I saw you out there? We all cheer for u

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
  18. Ok I am away out .

Expect drunken question about my defence and ridiculous hit combinations around the 1am mark.

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
  19. Just got another crazy idea. Sterling to Demps. Or maybe it isn't that crazy?

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
  20. Best replacement for Walcott? Already have Bale, Mata, Silva + Punch. Won't do Fellaini and not Michu.

    0.1 in the bank. Cheers

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. seems like you've already done enough research.

      • 2 years, 4 days ago
  21. Chances of City getting CS this week?

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. i think newcastle will score

      • 2 years, 3 days ago
  22. Would u swao cuellar to sagna for a hit?

    • 2 years, 4 days ago
    1. Sorry mate ya i would

      • 2 years, 3 days ago
    2. Would u swap mignolet for a hit?? Only goalie choice tis weekend?

      • 2 years, 3 days ago
  23. Tip of the day

If you want to decide who to transfer this week , first work out who you will need next week

Aguero likely to top the capt polls next week , especially if he should score this week. For thaat reason im taking out Bale for a cheap mid , then next week can do Fletcher Aguero

    Sound good?
