The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 18

We fell short once again last week, which now swings the profit pot back in Paddy’s favour after the likes of Jermain Defoe, Grant Holt and Luis Suarez all failed to notch in their corresponding matches. We’ve got ground to make up and pennies to claw back, then, so this time we threw our bookmaker buddy some less familiar names…

We’ve had our eye on Glen Johnson in recent weeks, not least because he’s shown an attacking intent that’s seen him emerge as a real goal threat from the Liverpool right. Last weekend, only Steven Gerrard’s glancing header prevented Johnson’s goal-bound effort registering for the full-back and, having notched at West Ham in Gameweek 16, we think there’s another goal just around the corner. Paddy are offering 14/1 on a Johnson goal with a Liverpool clean sheet against Fulham and, with Martin Jol’s side stuttering and struggling to find goals, we’ll gladly take this one up for £2 of our stake money.

Jason Puncheon is another name we’ve latched onto as a player who is offering exceptional value from midfield in a Southampton side that attacks with some verve. Puncheon has been the Saints’ major goal threat in recent weeks and, with Adam Lallana missing this weekend and possibly over Christmas, the former Blackpool winger may have to step up his game to help maintain the Saints’ recent run of results. Paddy have slapped 11/1 on a Puncheon goal with a Southampton clean sheet against Sunderland at St Mary’s and we like that enough to toss £3 of our money in its direction.

David Silva is the headline act amongst this week’s Flutter selection; the subject of our recent Monitor article for members, the little Spaniard will surely be key to picking apart the Reading defence and many will fancy Silva for a decent haul. He has just a single goal to his name so far this season but this encounter looks to be a decent platform for him to add to his tally. Paddy certainly fancy his chances and have 7/2 on a Silva goal with Man City clean sheet against the Royals. We’ll take that for £3 more our stake funds.

Finally, we have £2 remaining for our weekly treble. While this normally features a United striker, this time around we thought we’d throw this week’s Scout Pick and differential punt, Edin Dzeko into the mix. We fancy the Bosnian to play some part, if not start, against Reading and that could well bring Dzeko the opportunity to boost this season’s goal count. Paddy are dangling odds of 11/1 on a Dzeko goal, a Santi Cazorla assist against Wigan and a clean sheet for Spurs at home to Stoke.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Lost on bottom of last page 🙁

    (OUT) Lambert + Sterling + Sessegnon + (£1.8)
    (IN) Benteke + Schneiderlin + Mata + (£0.2)

I want to carry out these transfers but I don’t want to cop a (-8) nor miss out due to price rises for next week.

Would you advise to take a (-4) this week to bring in Benteke/Schneiderlin so I’ll have a a (-4) the week after? Cheers 🙂

I'd leave it as it is so you have 2 next week. Southampton good fixtures and looks you already ditched Fel so wouldn't it be a - 12 if you did 3 more?

Oh, these transfers are planned for next week. I'm just seeing whether I should carry them on by helping prior.
Thus, taking a -4 this week and -4 next week.

Fair enough. Think i'd still leave it. Think Scneiderlin a bit of a waste of a space in your team. And Lambert could easily do better than Benteke this week.

Silva v RVP captain cons and pros.

    SIlva - Pros
    - Vsing Reading (6 games without a win, 7 games since a draw, 9 out of 17 games conceeding 2 or more goals, only 1 clean sheet this season, no away league wins)
    - City have scored 2 or more goals in 11 out of 17 games
    - Has been picking up form and been very unlucky in the past few GWs not to score/assist more
    - Pressure on City to catch up on Utd
    - Eyes on City as they fall out of Europe and have only the EPL to win

    Cons
    - Rarely received BAP this season
    - City's strikers not in form and not scoring

    RVP - Pros
    - Vsing Swansea (only 4 clean sheets this season)
    - Utd (5 games since a loss, 14 out of 17 games scoring 2 or more goals)
    - In decent scoring form (scored a goal in each of his last 4 games)
    - BAP magnet
    - Almost a guaranteed 12 points as Captain.

    Cons
    - Possibility of being rested/subbed early

    Thoughts? Discuss.

Your bench is good enough that you could take a chance with zabaleta over nastasic, even if zab is rotated you should be covered. But thats just me 🙂

      Otherwise it looks perfectly fine!

Your guess is as good as ours. Could work, could backfire. I'd keep Rooney but could then be low scoring against Swans

      Johnson?

Clichy is a v good shout vs Reading what with the freedom Gibbs was getting. But some rotation risk. Vertonghen is class, more chance of goals, but less chance of clean sheets. Still, should be nailed on, so that would be my preference.

and suarez is so central to everything liverpool do, at united and city there's quite a few capable goalscorers. At liverpool if there's a goal scored, more often than not suarez had something to do with it.

Does the 5-2 not count where he got a goal and two assists? Also the fact that Fulham away are shit, he is involved in everything, the team will want to bounce back, he's an absolute boss and many other reasons
