Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Pottered

Tony Pulis will need to reshuffle his defensive options after two of Stoke’s regular back-four fell foul of the referee’s wrath against Liverpool in Boxing Day. Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron will now sit out the Potters’ home clash against Southampton after accruing their fifth cautions of the campaign in Wednesday’s 3-1 win:

The duo are two of four players who are set to serve an automatic one-match ban in Gameweek 20. Villa’s Fabian Delph and Newcastle centre-half Mike Williamson are also sidelined against Wigan and Arsenal respectively.

While those four are unavailable, a quartet of new protagonists appeared on the Suspension Tightrope after receiving their fourth cautions of the campaign in midweek. Yaya Toure, Bradley Johnson, Jean Beausejour and Maynor Figueroa will all need to be on their best behaviour this upcoming weekend, as will 27 other players, including the likes of Robin Van Persie, Michu, Gareth Bale, Jermain Defoe, Adel Taarabt and Kevin Nolan; once Gameweek 20 is out the way, though, the limit is then extended to 10 yellows. So far, a quartet on players lead the race for that dubious honour – Luis Suarez, James Perch, Craig Gardner and Angel Rangel all have seven bookings apiece.

Both Darron Gibson and Carlton Cole are available this weekend, however. The FA have overturned three-match bans handed out to the pair in West Ham’s Gameweek 18 home clash with Everton – good news for those Fantasy managers eyeing up Cole as a possible double Gameweek punt; the 4.9 priced forward has produced two goals, an assist and six bonus points in four games since deputising for the injured Andy Carroll.

Elsewhere, Cheick Tiote returns for Newcastle’s trip to Arsenal after sitting out their 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford, while Marouane Fellaini serves the final fixture of his three-match ban as Everton welcome Chelsea to Goodison Park.

Man United have now exceeded the number of goals (28) as they conceded in three of their most recent title-winning seasons - 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09.

Hhhhhmmmmm. The fact that I am picking other captain to RVP as I need a differential to claw back some respectability in the leagues, means that I might as well not have him. Right? The main advantage of RVP, is he is a solid captain choice every week.

how long will you be picking captains other than rvp? and yeah but if you don't captain him and opponents do they only get his points on you once not twice.

also you could captain rvp and let the rest of your team and differentials catch you up that way

I'm having an absolute nightmare. 275,000 at the moment. That's even worse than when we dropped the no manchester strikers strategy.

I can't see myself closing the gap by keeping RVP. If i don't keep him, then i might end up doing even worse, but i'd prefer to risk that, rather than continue to languish where I am at the moment.

You could still conclude he will be a high scorer but not the highest scorer, in which case a rational decision could be made to own but not captain. But, it's hard to justify his price if you really don't plan to captain regularly.

Nah, they're not in last even this year, and they just took 2 points off of a team that drew Man Utd the week before. And like somebody else said, Derby County went 38 games without a win, and took 11 points the whole year. That said, never have watched a Derby County game myself, but can you imagine that DC were worse than Reading were against Arsenal 2 weeks ago?

    bale, walcott, michu, maloney
    rvp, suarez, lambert

Walcott has DGW so he would come in yr team anyways. Am captaining him this GW.

Michu if injured will just be on yr bench.

WC near so when Michu is fit you can get him back.

most on here would say gibbs. i'm not really sure which i'd prefer but since i've had sagna for a while i'm sticking with him as getting gibbs would be a really sideways transfer

things to note: gibbs has injury risk, sagna has slight rotation risk

I am in a fix. Need a little guidance here.

    Current Frontline is
RVP Defoe (sun RDG) Suarez (qpr SUN)

I am wanting to get in Berbatov (SWA wba) or Hernandez (WBA wig)

I dont know who to get rid of in order to get one of them in. Personally, I really want to do Defoe > Hernandez. Does it sound sane? Thanks

I personally don't think Hernandez is that good an option. He has a knack of scoring goals when they are least expected. Even if he starts, there is no guarantee he will score good. If anything Suarez to Berba, otherwise it's fine.

players you have could score more than those you want + save transfer
players you have could score same as those you want + save transfer
players you want could score more than those you have, but lose a transfer

In this case with these fixtures, I'd say players will score similarly. I'd go with saving my transfer. Hernandez may also only start one out of 2 games

        oh forgot two scenarios

new players score less and lose a transfer

only 1 positive scenario out of 5, and it's not that likely to happen with your transfers
