Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Pottered

Tony Pulis will need to reshuffle his defensive options after two of Stoke’s regular back-four fell foul of the referee’s wrath against Liverpool in Boxing Day. Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron will now sit out the Potters’ home clash against Southampton after accruing their fifth cautions of the campaign in Wednesday’s 3-1 win:

The duo are two of four players who are set to serve an automatic one-match ban in Gameweek 20. Villa’s Fabian Delph and Newcastle centre-half Mike Williamson are also sidelined against Wigan and Arsenal respectively.

While those four are unavailable, a quartet of new protagonists appeared on the Suspension Tightrope after receiving their fourth cautions of the campaign in midweek. Yaya Toure, Bradley Johnson, Jean Beausejour and Maynor Figueroa will all need to be on their best behaviour this upcoming weekend, as will 27 other players, including the likes of Robin Van Persie, Michu, Gareth Bale, Jermain Defoe, Adel Taarabt and Kevin Nolan; once Gameweek 20 is out the way, though, the limit is then extended to 10 yellows. So far, a quartet on players lead the race for that dubious honour – Luis Suarez, James Perch, Craig Gardner and Angel Rangel all have seven bookings apiece.

Both Darron Gibson and Carlton Cole are available this weekend, however. The FA have overturned three-match bans handed out to the pair in West Ham’s Gameweek 18 home clash with Everton – good news for those Fantasy managers eyeing up Cole as a possible double Gameweek punt; the 4.9 priced forward has produced two goals, an assist and six bonus points in four games since deputising for the injured Andy Carroll.

Elsewhere, Cheick Tiote returns for Newcastle’s trip to Arsenal after sitting out their 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford, while Marouane Fellaini serves the final fixture of his three-match ban as Everton welcome Chelsea to Goodison Park.

I really wish Aguero could get going soon. Kun is just class.

It would be nice to have another striker option going forward. I'd love to have him as a Suarez upgrade if he shows some form.

To be frank Unreal, we get blinded by the fixtures, Stoke is a bigger problem than either of City or Arsenal or United. And to be frank, quality players can get anything against very good teams, we've seen Michu against Arsenal, Berbatov against Arsenal, Michu against United too. I'd not worry with Suarez in, he can get anything against any opponent.

Is not having Arsenal attacking coverage going to hurt me this week? Not owned Santi for a while and I have a feeling Walcott might go nuts. Only option would be Silva > Walcott for a hit (0m in the bank) - worth it or wait till next week?

    Begovic (Cerny)

Gibbs - Johnson - Demel (Davies, Cameron)

Silva - Bale (vc) - Mata - Michu (Sterling)

In relation to mistakes on top of page , I've done quite well so far tho last weeks : Cuellar > Nastasic looks quite nasty instead of the well talked up Caz > Bale is a sore point - that coulda been a game changer for my ranking , tho I will say IMO Santi is a season keeper and that's why I applied patience. ( at this point so is Bale/Mata/Michu and Afri nw but its v hard to get them all ! )
The one thing I notice on here is how 'the crowd' can sway populist opinion sometimes for the good and other times for the bad especially on Sat morn (I tend to stay off) as managers tend to be 'swayed' into hits, all great when they pay off but IMO best avoided unless totally necessary.
You need to apply due diligence and thought into your transfers/strategy to get the best returns , in fact this game is like Chess where skill and thought coupled with longterm strategy are to the fore,
Ultimately 'Your the Gaffer' it's your call - certainly take all the advice on here - there are some seasoned campaigners with fantastic knowledge but be sure to add the final ingredient - your own input and thoughts.
Remember "Fail to prepare - Prepare to fail "

Personally I like the idea as it helps offset rotation, suspension , fixtures etc

I'm looking to set up my team as follows

Mid - bale, Michu, Fellani , Mata, Walcott
          Forward - RVP, Berb, Lambert

I would have santi but can use the extra funds to upgrade defence or even swap lambert to sturridge if he transfers

I often stubbornly avoid making transfers that seem obvious before the deadline; and usually it pays off. Occasionally though it turns into an epic fail; like not doing Sess to Bale last week. Nearly worked until last 10 mins and has cost me 5K places. Anyway, over a season I say saving transfers does pay off.

"This leaves a total of 21 spots left for the CL and Europa League still unoccupied. Relegated Managers will also be considered for these spots.

The main criteria for these spots is your contribution to the Uefa Council Leagues, and FFS. We will be looking for managers that will contribute to repeating the great atmosphere of last year’s CL and Europa through banter and pressers!"

registration for season 2 of the leagues already happened but that was only for new managers taht wanted to try their hand who would be taking up the 18 spots filled by the relegated managers (3 per league x 6 leagues). all managers that played in season 1 of the leagues which just ended keep their spots and same teams unless they were relegated, simple as that.

season 2 starts gw 20 btw

            no worries

            rules are here: http://uefacouncil.wordpress.com/league-rules/

so top 4 per league automatically qualify for CL. then the rest of the spots are decided by us council members. you don't have to post anything or apply or anything like that we'll just pick. and the way we decide it is gunna be who contributes regularly and who we think will contribute to the atmosphere of the CL (do you remember last season?) in the form of banter, pressers, and helping us out with articles and HOF and such
