The Light Knight " I don't have tactics, I have Tic Tacs and that's how I stay fresh" says:

        Morning!! Hows it going?

More effective= More clinical when setting up and scoring chances when he has the opportunity, ie his cutting inside has become quite predictable yet he is still ruthlessly difficult to stop

I prefer CR7 due to his explosiveness and I always have a thing for players with that extra physical edge.

    Santiagounreal says:

LR, I’m not having a go…but the argument that Messi still hasn’t proved himself on a rainy night at the Brittania is a long running joke. Pele never played in the PL, Maradona never played in the PL. But I bet you would never use these arguments against them.

The fact that Ronaldo played in the PL is just how his career panned out. He was scouted/spotted at a young age and snapped up by a big English team. Messi just so happened to be snapped up by another big team and luckily for him they were already a brilliant team (unlike Sporting Lisbon) so he never had to move to achieve everything he wanted to achieve. And let’s not forget Messi originally played for Newell’s Old boys in Argentina so in the same way he was snapped up at a young age. The difference is Messi stayed loyal to his team and has helped make them arguably the best team in the history of football. Ronaldo was bought by Madrid for an outrageous amount of money so they could compete in the league and the champions league again. To some extent it has worked but Barcelona are still miles better at the moment.

No hard feelings but you’re biased.

tw - click my link to access the council site which has: BAP Chap predictions, CL and Europa information, etc. says:

first off you can’t really call messi an out and out striker as he often drops into midfield to collect the ball or link up play

second, if you put ronaldo in barca i don’t think he’d do as well as he’d hold onto the ball too much and do 50 stepovers getting nowhere, where as messi plays quick 1-2′s with teammates to set himself or them up on goal

messi is a great passer creates a lot more goals for teammates than ronaldo does

i think he also creates a lot more goals from him for himself. think of all the solo goals he has

on the topic of national teams:
    a) portugal is set up to feed ronaldo the ball whereas argentina is not set up around messi as they have lots of other stars who desire the ball too such as tevez aguero di maria higuain, pastore, etc
    b) argentina has poor chemistry and lots of egos to deal with
    c) maradona was an awful coach
    d) messi just tied the argentina national team record for goals in a year in 2012

    Home Run Baker says:

I have been watching the Messi v Ronaldo discussion with interest. It’s such an emotive issue that I feel there must be an objective way to resolve it, and I have a proposal to make. Why not hold a vote every year to decide the world’s top footballer? We could give votes to recognised football experts, for example international captains and coaches. Surely whoever won such a vote could undisputably be called the world’s best footballer.
