The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 28

We came so close to a string of wins last week, with goals for Romelu Lukaku, Moussa Sissoko and Gareth Bale dropping in nicely. Sadly, consolation strikes from Sunderland, Southampton and Theo Walcott’s failure to assist in Arsenal’s win over Villa robbed us of some big profits and left Paddy Power grinning. Let’s see if we can take the smile off their face with this week’s Scout Pick inspired markets…

Javier Hernandez is perhaps a surprise inclusion in this week’s Picks selection, but we’re pretty confident that the Mexican will get the pitch time to inflict damage on a Norwich defence on Saturday, perhaps at the expense of Robin Van Persie. With Sir Alex Ferguson’s back four keeping three consecutive clean sheets and Norwich hardly prolific of late, Paddy’s odds of 5/2 on an Hernandez goal with a United shutout are understandably slim but, with confidence in the “little pea”, we’ll place £4 on this one with little hesitation.

Leighton Baines is a Scout favourite and was always going to find his way in the Picks with Reading visiting Goodison this weekend. With five goals to his name this term, Baines is always in the hat to fetch attacking returns – in truth, it’s been clean sheets that have been hardest to come by. Even so, with Reading without Pavel Pogrebnyak up front, Everton may well see this one out and Baines, with penalties and free-kicks, could also crash the scoresheet. Paddy have 10/1 on a Baines goal with an Everton clean sheet against the Royals and we’ll take that for £2 of our tenner.

Stephane Sessegnon was subject of a Watchlist article earlier in the week and almost broke into a highly competitive midfield five in this week’s Picks. A scorer at West Brom, Sessegnon’s goal denied us winnings last week so he owes us this time around. Paddy’s odds of 12/1 on a Sessegnon strike with a Sunderland clean sheet against a Fulham side who have struggled for a cutting edge, look tempting enough for us to part with another £2 of our cash.

That leaves another couple of quid for the weekend treble. With Luis Suarez highly fancied for his trip to Wigan and David Silva in the Picks off his double assist against Chelsea last time out, we feature them both as Paddy offer 9/1 on a Suarez goal at Wigan, a Silva assist at Villa (assists must be verified by Soccernet.com) and a United clean sheet at home to Norwich.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Assuming the Manchester clubs have a blank next week I've 7 without a game and of those that do, 2 are Pearce and Cameron who seem out of favour. Anyone in a worse position?

    Team for this week:

    Mig (Fed)
    Davies Zabaleta Rafael (Cameron Pearce)
Michu Fellaini Mata (vc) Bale (c) Walcott
    RVP Anichebe (Benteke)

Quite happy with the team this week providing my Everton guys come through but they are first on the list for dumping next week. Would do it this week if it wasn't for Reading at home.

2.2m in bank. 1 FT. Save it for major surgery next week or have a tinker now to spread it?

Well I was planning Fellaini and Anichebe to Sissoko and Lambert. I could bring that forward to this week for a hit.

      Anyone?

Certainly hope so (Bale captain) but the stats suggest otherwise. Surprisingly, Arsenal have the best defensive record away from home while Spurs' goal scoring this season at White Hart Lane is pretty moderate considering where there sitting in the table right now. Their rearguard has been quite tight at home however while Arsenal have scored less on the road than the likes of Everton & Southampton (and the same as Newcastle & West Brom).

      0-0 coming up?

I'm not 100% sure NLD is going to be a big scoring match, but somehow im sure michu is going to score 10+ against the broken newcastle defence. beside them i have RVP, Mata and Fellaini but i consider michu as a safe bet. but then, he got just 4% votes on the captain survey...

United & City i'd say are about 75% off, usually the FA would've spoken by now.

Why, it's not for another 10/11 days

Exactly. The FA usually release the DGW fixtures at least 10 days before, and considering it's a Sky game, it won't be played midweek, clashing with UCL coverage.

Think Utd game will be off as it was down as a live Sky game so would clash with the Champions League games. Maybe City game could be moved to mid-week.

Need to bench one from RVP, Giroud, Sissoko or Michu. At the moment I'm thinking Giroud. Already have Walcott and Bale and off Old Trafford today so would be a shame to bench Robin and then after all this watch him start and score.

Giroud out of form so gotta be him right?

    Front 8 currently.
    Fellaini mata Walcott michu(c) bale
    Lambert Suarez (RvP)
Is it crazy to bench the Dutchman?
    Next best option?

Almost the same team (Sissoko instead of Mata) and am cut between benching RVP or Fell.

I've just brought Siss in for Guthrie and seems mad to bench him.

I just cant decide who to captain between bale and michu. I’m not 100% sure NLD is going to be a big scoring match, but somehow im sure michu is going to score 10+ against the broken newcastle defence. beside them i have RVP, Mata and Fellaini but i consider michu as a safe bet. but then, he got just 4% votes on the captain survey…
