The ScoutCast – Episode One Hundred And Three – Armband

The double Gameweek dominates episode 103 of the ScoutCast, providing a timely antidote a pitiful weekend of points scoring that saw even the great and good struggle. While your hosts hardly fit into that category, Granville and I dust ourselves down to rinse through the double Gameweek options, popping in on the Professor to get the “Rate My Team” viewpoint, before Jonty crashes the party to serve up another community themed conclusion.

This time around, Jonty brings a tale of armband woe: a Fantasy manager who misses the captain target with frustrating regularity. Whilst that manager’s luck should offer cheer, Jonty is also armed with a plethora of captain statistics that come courtesy of a former “Full Jonty” victim. Those particular revelations have me staring into the eyes of a certain Dutchman and wondering where it all went wrong.

Be captain sensible and grab this latest episode via this link or stream it via the player below.

*Apologies for the downgrade in sound balance this week – we had some technical issues which basically meant I forgot to restart the recording half way through and so had to use a lower quality recording mix. A balls up: it won’t happen again (that’s probably a complete lie – it’s bound to happen again).

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

yup.. no one else really ticklin my fancy in midfield(apart from Cazorla Fell Maloney Michu). if silva's fit though i'll plump for him instead. Pienaar would go for Bale/Silva next week anyway

My biggest "issues" are selling Benteke for Berbatov and Rafael or Baines.

      FAB
      DEMEL/clyne/BAINES
      mata/FELLIANI/SANTI/maloney
      RVP/benteke/suarez .....for -8

      bego/turner/michu/davies

      other options are:
      1. to play bego and rather do benteke->BERBA?
      2. bunn/pearce/bale->Fab/Rafael/Felliani for -4?

Alreet lads. How's it going? I haven't been in the DZ for AGES. I've been mad busy with work, and have had to put fpl on the back burner. I really need your help now though. I'm 18 pts clear in my money league, with 5 DGW players and 2 FT. My main rival has played his WC this week. Should I try and second guess what he will do and try and block him, or just play my own game? This guy has won the league for the last five or so years, each year I am usually ahead at this stage. I HAVE to beat him, don't really care about overall position. If I was playing my own game I would probably take one hit and do Bunn, Mata, Sturridge > De Gea, Fellaini, Giroud. 4 pt hit. That would give me:

    ----------------------DE GEA-------------------
    ----------BAINES DEMEL Clyne----------
    FELLAINI WALCOTT SANTI Sissokho
    --------GIROUD BERBA Suarez----------

    Cesar, Wilson, Davies, Bale.

Playing my own game, i wouldn't bother with a man utd forward, as I would be suprised if Rooney or RVP played both games. But do I need to crowbar in RVP to cover my rival (will he get him in on his WC?)

    PLEASE HELP!!

Is it worth doing Harte -> Baines -4pts this week if I only plan on keeping Baines for only a few weeks and will likely need to take a hit to remove him. So the move will likely cost me 8pts in the long run. If I don't buy Baines (QPR, ars) I'll start Clyne (WHA) instead. Is it worth bringing Baines in?

Yeah, I suppose. I'm taking the hits to sort out Bunn/Pearce in my team. Seeing it as "get out of jail for free" sort of trades. Who is your other keeper?

My other keeper is Bego, so I'm not to keen on tying so much money into Bego+DDG as bego can basically play all my fixtures if Fab loses his place.

Am I correct in saying the FA cup final would be played in GW37?

If so wouldn't this mean that the 2nd of the two games in GW36 would be a bit of a minefield for those loading up with the finalists i.e. Chelsea/City and possibly Wigan?

Surely their managers would rest them before the cup final?

This may well be factually incorrect as it is very early!

      Two questions:

      1) Keep Mata or Hazard?
      2) Bego > DDG worth a 2nd hit for (-8) total?

I would keep Mata, but I own Hazard ( I followed last weeks bandwagon - mistake )

Current def line with 1 hit:

          Bego (Bunn)
          Baines, Demel, Martin (Harte, Davies)

          1.4 banked

Hmmm....it would worry me a little with no united def cover. Ditto arsenal, that's why I got Sagna in.

If it was 4pts yes, I'm not sure of 8. Not on a def/gk.

Need to cleanies to cover off. Nah, leave it.

You don't want 8 off your total.

    Hazard Cazorla* Fellaini* Yaya (HRK)

I also want to bring in aguero(GW 34) for either rooney or suarez. United having tougher fixtures would ensure game time for rooney right, or should i keep suarez?

Hello DZ. Just about finalizing my wc draft. Think i am pretty set on this.

    DDG
    Evra Baines Sagna
    Fellaini Santi Coutinho Silva
    RVP Berbatov Giroud

    Robles Michu Alcaraz Jones

0.1M short off this draft but hoping Osman gets a rise today so that i can afford this. What would you change? Considering changing the double Wigan but they do have a DGW.

I'm on wc but can't decide that last arsenal player - walcott, gervinho or giroud?

Walcott - I doubt he will start first game, so maybe not. Bit scared if start tough..
Gervinho - maybe 70 mins in first and then might be benched for walcott for second game?
Giroud - not much form, but at least pretty sure to start both games?

    Toughts?

It could easily be Walcott and Gervinho vs Everton though, especially if Rosicky is still a doubt to start. It's really a toss up, Giroud has been in poor form but I guess he is more likely to start, then again that doesn't mean he's more likely to do anything.

If I take him, I could also keep Michu, but not sure who could be my third striker (rvp, berba) - not sure about Tevez, don't afford Suarez and Mirallas/Anichebe might be bit too much.

Cazorla if playing safe, which is what I'm tempted to do.

I'd go RVP if I thought he'd start both games.

      Also massively tempted by Giroud.

I think I've limited it down to either RVP or Cazorla.

My main competitor has Carzorla and will probably captain (he also has Giroud so might go for him) but doesn't have RVP. I'm 8 points behind at present.

      Tough one.
