Martyniak Claims FPL Crown

Congratulations go to Matt Martyniak who, on a dramatic final day, claimed the Fantasy Premier League crown by just three points after the Gameweek 38 bonus points settled matters.

Matt, a veteran Fantasy Premier League manager, has competed in the game since the 2006/07 season and had previously recorded an impressive finish of 707th back in 2007/08. A recent arrival in the Scout community, he was just two points behind Kelvin Travers, another Scout league member, at the end of 90 minutes. However, it was the bonus points from Liverpool’s 1-0 win over QPR that proved decisive. Matt earned a total of five points via his Gameweek 38 signing, Philppe Coutinho, and left-back Jose Enrique which eventually saw him topple Kelvin at the summit.

That pairing ended the season topping our classic league with Evs finishing third and fifth overall and former leader, Julian Zipparo in fourth and sixth in the overall rankings.

Congratulations again to Matt and all our Scout League members who enjoyed such successful FPL campaigns and to all our FPL managers who helped to make the community so active, knowledgable and friendly.

  Just a one off i reckon..
  
  Though sometimes you were too stringent on the uber rule..Like for example i had spend as much as i could in attack and then used the extra cash to spend on premium defenders and you'd be like too many premium defenders..though i think that was banter from your side..
  
  Your advice has always been great. Maybe i guess going for the value-cheap player be it mid/def/fwd is the key..
  
  I think you're going to bounce back in no time fwiw..highest respect.

  in all honesty though I think some of it comes down to bad luck, or a few poor judgement calls is all it really is. and there may have been a few times where investing in one or two more expensive defenders may have been profitable for you. all in all 9k is still a job well done.

  In a Season when it was harder finding a clean sheet than a fart in a wind tunnel, you chose a dubious strategy of cheap defenders.
  
  Because of the plethora of midfield options, it was then too difficult to focus the money where the maximum benefit lay. Imo.

  i've got a shocking 8 points from 5 games with fellaini, 8 points from 5 with michu, 20 from 7 with sturridge, Graham dint let me get michu first few weeks, Aguero's been frustratin, bought ddg far too late after his run, kompany either has'nt started or not given me CS's when he has, same with nasty.. Hangeland, Taarabt obvious.. Hazard given me 8 or so in 4.. plain bad luck wit these guys

I have to say that the minimal fee of a full membership was well worth it!

        It went well. Didn't catch Benteke's hat trick but otherwise gave decent advice. Picked Bale gw38 although it predicted Sturridge to do better, cause I wanted a "differential". Figured my country leader would pick Sturridge and turned out to be a correct decision.
        
        So you shouldn't trust it blindly but take note of the probable predictions.

  He was a nice guy who was having mood swings towards the end of the season. I enjoyed more when he posted as MartinUnreal/SantiUnreal. Didn't like him as Learnu. He was more like Mr.Hyde at the point.

    Partially. Bale played 32 GWs and scored 249 while RVP played 37 GWs and scored 262, so Bale (7.78) was a better scorer than RVP (7.08) in terms of average score per GW played. But the fact the RVP had good games when Bale was out (11, 6, 12, 16, 2, 16 respectively) helped make the score so high.

I'm soo lucky. I missed the Sturridge price rise due to FISO letting me down. This forced me to swap Fellaini for Coutinho for a hit. I wouldnt have done this so was fuming.
It turned out to be a better move and therefore just keptme in the top 1000. Very lucky

Lessons learned: don't stall getting in form players - form over fixtures every time. Don't hang on to "he's due" players - dead wood is dead wood. Watch more games. And go with gut - don't be swayed by hype! Also, have a cheeky differential here and there. Oh, well, there's always next season!

    🙂 Absolutely. Now that the nightmare is over, I'm back on.
    
    The downside of the last 4 weeks is that I paid no attention. Made a handful of 30 second, snap transfer decisions. But that's the lesson I've learned from this season - care less, obsess less, take fewer hits.

  I definitely will, if only because it would be difficult to write about it otherwise. I sometimes get the sense FPL is one of those things I do because I *think* I enjoy it, but actually when I do I just end up cross, drunk and swearing, golf is the other obvious example.
