PlayON – £5,000 Guaranteed Pot For Gameweek 4

As you may know, we’re supporting PlayON as our weekly Fantasy Football pursuit this season. With the international break upon us, these guys have decided to spice things up in their part of the world, putting no less than £5,000 guaranteed in a Gameweek 4 prize pot for a £5 entry.

At present, the prize pot stands at a cool £1,000 guaranteed but, once the game hits 500 entrants, they will raise it to £5,000. To make that happen, PlayON have put a deadline in place of Sunday evening at 10pm to get those 500 players on board.

Here are Fantasy Football Scout, we’re very happy to get the word out and help get that pot in place so that hopefully a member of our community can grab their share of the potential prize.

If you’ve yet to try out PlayON, this is a superb opportunity to get involved.

As there are no fixtures this weekend, you’ve got time to register and get tinkering with a starting XI. With the new transfer window players added, there’s also every chance you can snaffle several bargains and assemble a rather decent squad – Mesut Ozil at 9.6m or Erik Lamela for 6.2m, anyone?

Rest assured, you only need to register a provisional team and enter the game by 10pm on Sunday. You can continue to tinker with your team right up to the first kick-off on Saturday September 14, when United entertain Palace at 12.45pm.

You’ll find a full strategy guide to the game right here, offering tips that we’ve gathered over our experiences with the game. We’ll also be following up with specific player picks for Gameweek 4 next week so keep ‘em peeled for that.

In the meantime, get involved and spread the word on this to help populate the game and ensure that PlayON deliver on their £5,000 prize promise. Remember – there needs to be 500 players in the “£1000 Guaranteed” game by Sunday 10pm for the £5,000 prize pot to be triggered.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Maybe go for a small England win? Moldova (+3.0) is 2.00 (Betting on England winning by no more than 2 goals). Moldova (+2.0) is 3.75 (single goal victory).

    A few questions please...

Which Arsenal defender will get the most points? Gibbs or Kos?
    Is Jenkinson a starter?
Sturridge gonna be fit for GW4?
What route into Villa attack without getting Benteke?

    thanks

Anyone else watching England U21s? Shaw playing so he must now be fit. Redmond having a great game, I'm starting to think he's the best midfield option at 5.0

I have not seen much, from what I read he is kind of Townsend type player who likes to take it on with his inside foot from the wing. I cant be bothered to look but pretty sure that players like that take most of their shots from outside the box. But he does take them on by the looks of things

I think Gibbs has a great chance to provide 5-10 assists if he stays fit... Carzola cutting in off left should allow space for Gibbs to go wide... I do not expect Monreal to play that much as long as Gibbs avoids injury....

    OOT QUESTION:
Hi, everyone anyone knows where should i go to create google docs spreadsheet like this? (2-way rotation by ITWT)

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiIgkb7euD-9dHZqZWVBM01iWjhveGRpSHgya0VFTUE#gid=5

i mean, only me can edit it, and other users only can see it. with colorful viewers also tracked (x other viewers)

because sometimes in my groups, i mostly saw spreadsheet but everyone can edit. that's not what i want.

any help please? just that. thanks in advance. 🙂

I don't think he has much upside, apart from his cheap price. Even then, i think i'd rather Nastasic/Koscielny at that cost. He literally has no attacking threat

Yeah agreed he has no attacking threat. Vidic managed 14 goals in 6 seasons which is about 2.3 a season, and probably works out to about 20 points a season. I guess that might be worth the extra 0.5 if he manages to deliver the goals. Dunno if the 0.5 could be better spent elsewhere though.

After a perfect summer, with perfect footballing conditions, i am about to take my son (12)out for his first match of the season (a friendly).....It's absolutely chucking it down and he will...along with everybody else...be unable to play much in the way of skillful football...or indeed may well not even wat to be there...and nor will the parents. These condition will worsen enormously in the coming months and will end up with the kids playing in mud baths and in freezing cold weather...If Mr Dyke wants a team of English footballers with the skills to take on the world then stop organising kids football to be played in mud baths...wind...rain...and freezing cold conditions....Play kids football in the summer i will guarantee a generation of more skillful footballers with more dedicated and enthusiastic parents backing them up....WHERE'S MY BROLLY.....!!!!

Idle WC dream team if I was actually WCing now (which I'm managing not to). Hybrid 3-4-3/4-3-3.

    Migs / Daniels
    Ferdinand Nastasic Coleman (Collins Chester)
    Walcott Ozil Silva (Brady JWP)
    Sturridge Soldado Benteke

Ferdinand there to make the budget work, might chicken out of it perhaps.

Still undecided about Ozil btw, would really depend on how often he shoots. Did some back of the envelope maths on him and it seems like he would need a max of 6.7 PPG which is some way over an assist (without bonus) per game.

It looks a bit unfamiliar to me because I'd prefer to have more mids, but the midpriced ones don't look worth it.

Maybe could get four goalscoring mids by changing Ozil / Silva / Brady to Lampard / Mirallas / Nolan

Benching Nolan for away games. But that does feel like a waste of money I could spend on a better defence. Those are the kind of problems when you put this together.

It does look good but I just checked out the defence rotation, and GWs 5, 7 and 9 could be problematic. You could get away with GW7 actually, Nastasic would have to play Everton but that's not the end of the world. But doubts over Ferdinand's gametime have been raised, too.

Not sure about JWP yet though he's popular on here; I'd rather rotate Brady and Whittingham as they are both on pens, or perhaps Quinn and Whittingham if the funds won't stretch.

That's a good call rotating the two penalty takers. Whittingham could be a very good option with his free kicks, corners and penalties. So they do rotate OK?

I think JWP is a good option too as he's actually taken the 2nd highest number of corners (16) behind Baines so far, so is firmly on set pieces himself. Ranks quite highly on total crosses too. And 0.5 cheaper so more suitable for benching. Whittingham might outscore him though.

They do! Even better in a three-way with a SUN player, but nobody wants one of those...but straight HUL/CAR rotation isn't bad, either. I think it's less important to have perfect rotation for attacking players anyway.

Interesting stat Re: JWP! I just know he's young and only had very patchy spells of involvement last season...could be his breakout year, but I'm being cautious.

Yeah in general I don't do attacking rotation. Might expect penalties to be won more often at home though as they might go for it more there. An inexact science really.

Always a good sign for players' security at a club if they are given set pieces, imo. This season I'm also properly realizing the significance of set pieces. Whittingham looks like a decent enough option that he might deserve to start in my FPL team semi regularly.

He might just be my go-to replacement if anything happens to my cheapies then. It's nice to have options, think we're doing well in that price bracket this year.

I tended to be comfortable if it's 55 or more - but I think this season they're more pessimistic so 50 is probably a good guide. There will be less assists this year, but with BPs being shared I think this will offset any assist loss.

Im debating between Soldado or Benteke. I kind of fancy Benteke but RMT seems to highly favor Soldado.

    • Both have good fixtures
    • Both have penalties in their locker
    • Benteke on better form but not surrounded by that great of midfield
    • Soldado hasn't scored from open play but has a better team around him

Who would you pick?(and kindly state why)

If your only point against Soldado is that he hasnt scored from open play yet then that can be disregarded since he scored a brace in europe from open play. Benteke's negative point stays though. So Soldado.

benteke has nothing to prove, so id have no problem slotting him in.
soldado does regardless of the quality around him, so hes still in the wait n see camp.

if i had to make a choice and didnt have either id go benteke for the next 2 at least, gives you a chance to look at soldado for a bit longer

I think it has to be Bentenke, but am sticking with Soldado instead for a few more weeks because I don't have a free transfer to spare and it is easy enough to transfer down whenever. 20/20 hindsight can kick one in the arse as I really thought Bentenke would get blanked in the opening game week and thus picked Soldado to start the season with (so consider my idiocy on that one before proceeding).

      Reasons I think its Bentenke:
      - Villa is built for speed, and all those youngsters dash down the pitch and then look for Bentenke
      - Bentenke can create shots on his own better than Soldado (having watched Soldado's YouTube compilations, he's clearly a fabulous finisher, but there aren't really clips of him making something out of nothing)
      - a lot o faces on Villa are returning from last year and they came together and gelled well in the 2nd half of last season while Spurs have a mess of new faces who need time to gel and play well together

      Benteke and by some distance.

He is not new to the league and is part of an attacking Villa line up - he completes their forward triumvirate with Agbonlahor and Weimann and there are plenty of chances created. Their defence is less than impressive and it seems that they will play to their strengths and attack rather than attempt to change their style to shore themselves up.

Soldado may have the 'better' team but they are all new additions to the league. Not only is he the type of player that requires an excellent understanding of his team around him to thrive - his bedding in period is made more difficult by the fact that those supplying him are also new to the league and the team, and yet to find their feet. The amount of chances he's actually had in his three games so far is pretty paltry.

Pick Benteke, save some cash, and if you must back someone from Tottenham - pick a (potentially) goalscoring midfielder like Lamela. Soldado has the potential to come good later and will probably end the season very well. Now's not the time to waste a precious striker slot.
