Watchlist

The Watchlist Updated – The Forwards

We roll out the third, and final, instalment of our player recommendations for the next four to six Gameweeks this evening. Having run the rule over the Defence and Midfield, we cast our analytical eye over the options up top – unsurprisingly, a pair of in-form South Americans prove immovable objects:

Luis Suarez retains his place at the top of this week’s refresh after plundering the points in last week’s Merseyside derby. Seven games into his comeback from suspension, the Liverpool forward has failed to deliver the points just once, averaging an incredible 10.4 points per game in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL). With a trip to Hull and three Anfield appearances in the following four (NOR, WHM, CAR), many will be tempted to hand the Uruguayan the armband for the foreseeable future as his irresistible form shows little sign of letting up.

Daniel Sturridge drops down after being omitted from the Reds’ XI for first time last weekend. Granted, he emerged from the bench to head a late equaliser, but given Brendan Rodgers is clearly prepared to protect his ongoing leg problem, Sturridge’s appeal has been somewhat dented as Suarez continues to outgun him.

Sergio Aguero sits just behind his fellow South American in second spot after racking up a fifth set of double figures in ten starts last weekend. With Manuel Pellegrini prepared to go on the offensive, Aguero’s star continues to rise – a home game with Swansea looks like yet another chance to produce the goods, while the visit of Arsenal and Liverpool will hold little fear for a player who has averaged over 11 points per game at the Etihad. With trips to Fulham and West Brom also on the agenda, Aguero and side-kick Alvaro Negredo look set to maintain their superb recent form – at 9.1 to Aguero’s 12.2, the latter offers a kinder route into City’s attack and has scored or assisted in each of his last five home appearances.

Over in the red corner of Manchester, United also supply us with a couple of contenders. Wayne Rooney leads the way, with Robin Van Persie still a doubt as a result of an ongoing groin problem. Rooney has three sets of double figures in the last four and has now scored or assisted in nine of his 11 league appearances under David Moyes, with four assists in the Champions League rout at Leverkusen highlighting his current level of confidence. Van Persie, nonetheless, has still impressed in his last few outings – the Dutchman netted in each of his previous four league appearances and, if he can prove his fitness, could well be poised to take advantage of a run which hands him three home games (EVE, NEW, WHM) and trips to Villa and Hull after Sunday’s visit to the Lane.

Few frontmen can boast a better record than Newcastle’s Loic Remy in recent matches. The on-loan Frenchman has now netted eight times in the last eight Gameweeks and, with home games against West Brom, Southampton and Stoke, in addition to trips to Swansea and Palace, the 8.1-priced Remy continues to look outstanding value for those Fantasy managers unwilling to load up on three big-hitters up top.

A brace against Southampton brought Olivier Giroud back onto Fantasy radars. Granted, his goals were somewhat fortuitous – the first came courtesy of an Artur Boruc error, whilst he was handed the chance to notch from the spot after first and second choice takers Mikel Arteta and Mesut Ozil were withdrawn late on. While Arsene Wenger has hinted at rotation over the next three matches ahead of the final Champions League match against Napoli, Giroud surely looks exempt as the Gunners travel to Cardiff before facing back-to-back home games with Hull and Everton.

Seven goals and an assist in eight appearances for Everton sum up the impact of Romelu Lukaku. After notching in one of the previous four, the big Belgian was back with a bang when it mattered most – putting two past Liverpool in the Merseyside derby and serving up a 13-point haul for his Fantasy owners. Up next is a home game with Stoke and, whilst trips to Arsenal and United look tricky, he’ll hold little fear, having also scored against the likes of City this term. From Gameweek 16, his following four (FUL, swa, SUN, SOU) suggest a price hike will be on the cards for Lukaku, who currently sets you back 7.9 in FPL.

Christian Benteke has now gone five games without a goal since returning from injury but with a home game against Sunderland up next, his owners will be hopeful of a return to form. With Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann climbing off the bench against West Brom to signal their return from injury, Benteke looks set to line up in his favoured 4-3-3 against the travel-sick Black Cats and with games against Fulham, Palace and Stoke also on his agenda over the next six, there’s every chance he’ll rediscover his scoring touch before long.

Rio Ferdinand is still in my team 😕

Who should I shift him for:

    A) Vlaar (leaves cash to upgrade Whitts > Sess in a few GWs)
    B) Collins (same as above)
    C) Mertersacker (no way to get Sess)
    D) Kosc (can downgrade Dawson at a later date to get Sess)

My MF is pretty weak so A or B is the way I'm leaning

Oh and I guess another option could be

      E) Flanagan (a punt as he is probably only one bad game away from being dropped)

Only bench cover I have is januzaj and williams ( assuming rat doesnt play)
Is januzaj good enough for bench cover this week if coutinho doesnt play or should I take a hit?

I don't really like taking hits in general. Sometimes you have too for the sake of your squad but I don't think this is one of those times. Rav could easilly get a yellow and be banned for Wednesday which would leave you in the same spot you are in now

I was kind of in the same situation as you mate, although I was slightly worse (I could only field 10 players). I took a hit to get RavMo in, I've got a feeling he could score tomorrow, though that probably means very little to you! 😛

If you can field 11 players its not worth the hit IMO.

Yeah he is pretty useful in the box. Maybe there's less advantage for Jones in terms of attacking points than I think. 3 goals 2 assists for Evans last year and 1 goal 3 assists the year before.

    Rodgers on Flanagan.

Rodgers said: "I think Jon [Flanagan] is ready. I have a huge amount of respect for him and that was the reason I put him in. I have seen a boy who got his chance a few years ago and it is very easily done that you can become complacent. You get a new contract and all of a sudden you have a few bad games and you are out of the team. For me he has never really featured and that is the brutal honesty of it. He has played in some cup games but that is about it.

"I told him this week to think about where he was a couple of years ago when he was in the team and then he was out of it. I said to him, 'Don't play like you have cracked it because you have had a great game in the derby and been man of the match. Go out and prove yourself every single week and, if you do that, you will be all right.'"

Pretty encouraging for his chances of starting to be fair. We'll have to see whether he's on the teamsheet on Sunday.

My team is not looking that great and hasn't done all season. It's been a struggle this year and just can't seem to make any great gains in my ranking having finished in the top 5k the last 2 seasons.

    Kun (c) Suaz (vc) Rooney

    1FT $ 1.1 in the bank

Will this plan give me a better balance?

    GW13 Rio>Flanagan/Rat/Vlaar (which one?)
    GW14 Dawson>Kos
    GW15 Whitts>Sess

That's the best I can come up with 😕 Anyone think of anything better?

i will not do kos move as arsenal haf tough fixture coming..agree with selling rio..but not to flanagan as if he does not play u have to keep playing shaw. will haf vlaar/ward instead imo. tbh will sell rooney to lukaku as u need more cash to upgrade ur mid imo.

Starting Ravel over Cout makes sense right, now with this news

Coutinho if he's your 1st choice. Autosub if he doesn't play.

Cheers, just saw a few comments about after I pressed reply.

I'd still start him though if I were you. Let autosubs deal with him not playing.

Doing Ozil & Brady > Oscar & Coutinho (-4) doesn't make sense now, but what about...

    Ozil > Hazard (FT)

    Yay or nay?

1FT, 0.2m ITB. Anything worth to do?

A: Clyne -> Tomkins .. some good fixtures, but no main man - Reid
B: Clyne -> Vlaar .. good fixtures but hard to trust Villa DF
C: Clyne -> Olsson (Norwich) OOP, I was told.
D: Clyne -> Flanagan .. will he start? i also have Migs
    E: Williams -> Lescott
    F: Williams -> Evans

G: Save FT this week and Play this.

    Migs
    Terry - Ward - Clyne (B.Turner, Williams)

You have similar probs to me in DF. I'd make a transfer (that's what I'm doing anyway)

I'm looking at Vlaar, WHam or Flan

Vlaar looking the safest for starts and fixtures. But all trannys have a downside

I have checked the fixtures from Gw13-20 and found that i have DF problem on Gw13, 17, and 20. I feel it's better to make a transfer and solve it now.

Each transfer will give me these on Gw 13, 17, 20
A: Tomkins … FUL, mun, ful
B: Vlaar … SUN, stk, sun
C: Olsson … CPL, sun, cpl
D: Flanagan … hul, CAR, HUL
E: Lescott … SWA, ful, swa
F: Evans … tot, WHM, TOT

        I'll make transfer, I think.

Is my team ready to rock & roll.

    Mignolet
    Terry, Mert, Skrtel
    Ozil, Ramsey, Cabaye, Barkley
    Aguero (c), Suarez, Remy

    Boruc, Lallana, Clyne, Burner

It seems Skrtel will play now but is there a possibility he won't?

Have asked earlier but am looking for more thoughts: is Walcott in for Cazorla a bit sideways/too soon this GW?
I have a FT and although my bench is triple Hull (Brady Davies Chester) I feel okay about the first 11:
    Boruc
    GJ Walker MTurner
    Hazard Ravel Sess Cazorla
    Aguero Suarez Benteke

I don't think there's such a thing as sideways moves with forwards and mids. I'm getting Walcott in for Ozil as I expect him to score far more points. Granted its definitely a punt this early.
