The ScoutCast – Episode 119 – Throaty

Feeling rougher than a Lee Cattermole tackle, I manage to patch myself up to share a microphone with Granville for another Podcast episode. Tonsils in tatters, the usual round of blows come my way as my co-host strolls into the mini-league distance with a comfortable three-figure lead.

We talk Rooney vs Aguero and rinse through the ScoutCast regulars, while I end up getting misty-eyed about Stephen Ireland – one of a select band of “soft spot” players who rise to the top of my watchlist at the first sign of a semblance of form. And I wonder why I’m struggling.

Definitely starting Brady at home to Stoke. GJ's chances of a CS are slim to none and I would rather play a mid than hope for GJ to get attacking points away at Spurs. Yeah considering Krul over Marshall, ur reasons for this??

    2FT, 0 funds, 3 choices...

    myhill (boruc)
    mert vidic dawson olson burner
    ramsey hazard nasri coutinho januzaj
    suarez aguero lukaku

    A: boruc + vidic >> howard + ward
    - sorts out gk issue till jan WC so save a future transfer on a gk
    - howard costs similar to jagielka so prefer the latter, hence option B
    - already have burner so ward rotates perfectly

    B: boruc + vidic >> marshall + jagielka
    - sorts out my gk problem till gw20...will need to make another transfer then for myhill>speroni
    - get the best everton defensive cover, potential double up on cardiff def as i also have buner

C: vidic >> distin and carry over remaining FT (0.1 short to afford jagielka)
    - myhill has two decent fixtures in cardiff, HULL so can find new gk in gw18
    - the new gk will be howard if i want a 3rd everton player or lloris/de gea
    - not sure if distin is better value then jagielka

    all three are valid options

I like A best because it shows planning for the a while (though Howard is a risk with the yellow cards).

What do you think of this team?

    Howard
    Shaw, Merts, GJ
    Hazard, Ozil, Ramsey, Shelvey
    Lukaku, Aguero, Saurez (c)

    Baker, Lallana, Yanga-Mbiwa

one FT. Could change up defence with Yanga-Mbiwa > Chester/Williamson or take a punt on GJ to Jones with Man U finally figuring it out against Villa...

This is the starting 11 as it stands:

    Marshall
    Terry Coleman Olsson
    Hazard Ramsey Brady Morrison
    Aguero Suarez lukaku

    Krul vlaar Clyne Cabaye

Have one ft and 3.0 in the bank.
Is it worth doing Clyne or Brady out this week? And play the replacement over Brady?

Is there any point having Krul if you're going to start Marshall over him this week?

    2011-12
    Norwich vs Swansea = 3 - 1
    Swansea vs Norwich = 2 - 3

    2012-13
    Norwich vs Swansea = 2 - 2
    Swansea vs Norwich = 3 - 4

So, don't bench your Norwich or Swansea's attacking player... !!

Mark insistent that there doesn't appear to be anyone to expand the player pool

Still feel it could be Tottenham - Lamela, Eriksen, Soldafo, Paulinho, Holtby...

Is it madness to captain Oscar? Other options are Lukaku, and Suarez/Aguero because of form.

Can't afford Hazard without taking a hit, but given that Oscar will play just behind the striker he seems likely to profit, albeit against a more resilient Palace. Perhaps I should just bow to the poll and go Lukaku(C), although on the other occasion I've captained him this year he blanked.

Oscar's a fine shout if it means getting someone in. I have Oscar and Haz, I wouldn't captain either of them over any of SALR though..

OK, I'll get Oscar for Chelsea "cover". Not convinced by Lukaku, don't own Rooney, so perhaps I'll just give Luis the armband for the 3rd week in a row against a makeshift Spurs defence. No Gerrard does put a question mark over how much of a threat Liverpool will be though.

Rooney has done very well though in FPL and Villa are a little short with both Vlaar and Delph out. Utd better away and Villa worse at home. Tricky one but I think I'd drop Aguero.

Difficult to leave out Ramsey, even away to Man City.. I'd consider playing him over Whitt or Burner. I think WBA will score (Even though I'm playing Burner)
