I find the season ticker on of the most useful tools in the members section. I think adjusting it when you are interested in buying defenders versus attackers is useful though, as you are looking at two distinct sets of attributes.
I've created two sets of values. For defenders (i.e. you are looking to buy a defender) I've looked at how many goals each opposition team scores either home or away compared to the average of the season (home or away) so far. I then look at reverse clean sheets i.e. how many times the opposition has failed to score and take a weighting compared to the average reverse clean sheets. This identifies who always scores, say at home, and who frequently does not. I then take an average of these two values as my weighting for the ticker.
You can import these into your ticker if you are sufficiently excited:

For attackers I look at the number of goals the opposition has conceded and the number of clean sheets they have kept. I use a weighting of each team's goals conceded compared to the average, and their clean sheets compared to the average to come up with the weightings.

I think it is relevant to include clean sheets / reverse clean sheets to smooth out the hammerings Spurs keep getting.
Of course this is all based off the season to date hence Hull at home are the trickiest proposition for an attacker. It also takes no account of defenders with attacking threat. But it's a slow day in work...Open ControlsSounds good!
