Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Seventh Round Draw

We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

Who was saying Ki is on penalties?

Surely not ahead of Larsson and Gardner

        25 Mannone
        12 Celustka
        02 Bardsley
        33 Cattermole
        21 Diakité
        29 Roberge
        07 Larsson
        04 Ki
        09 Fletcher
        14 Colback
        31 Borini

So Larsson was on, Fletcher too. But Ki did win the penalty, which can influence things.

Don't think Gardner has been playing for them recently (god knows why) not sure about Larsson taking pens, surely even Fletcher has a chance as well.

I'm just not sure. He was fouled for the penalty, so took it. That's often the case, they have first choice. I know they have that at Newcastle.

Gardner first choice, but I'd say Ki second now that he's slotted one away in high pressure situation......not that we win many penalties.

    Morning all,

I've heard a lot of talk about strategies for defenders on your wildcard, and a common reoccurrence is 2 'big' defenders, e.g. Coleman and Mertesacker, and 3 rotating cheapies that you will play 1 of every week.

I've looked for some cheap rotations with decent fixtures, (most weeks), until GW 38. The fixtures I have listed start in GW 21, the first week after the January WC can be played.

    Crystal Palace, Norwich and Sunderland
    (Ward [4.1], Molsson [4.2], Brown [4.3]) = 12.6m

ful, HUL, HUL, car, STO, whu, TOT, WBA, STO, CRY, SUN, WHU, WBA, AVL, whu, CAR, LIV, SWA.

    Cardiff, Norwich and Hull
    (Burner [4.2], M. Olsson [4.2], Chester [3.9]) = 12.4m

WHU, HUL. NEW, NOR, sun, AVL, HUL, NEW, FUL, sot, SUN, sto, CRY, ful, STO, sun, AVL, EVE.

Not cheap enough for you? Check out this beauty...

    Cardiff, Crystal Palace and Hull
    (Burner [4.2], Ward [4.1], Chester [3.9]) = 12.2m

WHU, STO, HUL, NOR, WBA, AVL, HUL, NEW, FUL, sun, WBA, sto, CRY, AVL, STO, sun, avl, EVE.

I'll be sticking with Gabs (4.1), Brown (4.3) and Chester (3.9), i think. Although, i like the look of option 3.

Got Coleman at 5.1 and Just picked up Koscelny for a measly 5.3.

I'll look at Boruc as soon as he's back fit. Otherwisa a sub 5m 'Keeper

Then its all about a massive front 7

      Walcott - Silva - Hazard - Cabaye

      Rooney - Suarez - Aguero

no need to wildcard so i recommend waiting unit Jan 18th to activate the W/C.

This will allow you maximum time to jump on price rises (10 days) and you get to confirm on the 28th, just ahead of the deadline (thus having the chance of signing most new players).

Think I know my plan for this and next week - what do you think?

    Sir Chez
    Coleman Bardsley Ward
    Ozil Wally Cabaye Barkley
    Suarez (c) Negredo Lukaku
    (Fer, Collins, Dawson)

    This week: Ozil to Yaya
    Next week: Fer to Lallana

    Yay or nay?

No Alcaraz love out here? With Jagielka out for a month he looks a good bet till you play your WC, also he's only 4.3 so he seems a good option even if it means doubling up on Everton

out for "up to" four weeks.

And Martinez says he expects Phil to be back sooner. there's a chance New Year's will be the last spot start for Alcaraz.

    Team is linked, currently

    Krul

    Shaw Terry Mert Coleman Distin

    Whitt Morrison Walcott Hazard Sess

    Suarez Rooney Lukaku

    2FT 1.0m ITB

Thinking Sess to Cabaye and Terry to Ward which sets up Whitt to Lallana next week - sound good?

Cheers buddy thanks for the reply. I understand re City - plan is to get Aguero back in on the WC as soon as he's back.

Difficulty with rooney is that I got him in at 10.7 so I'd be throwing away a lot to ship him out briefly. I could do Whitt - Bannan Terry - Ward and then Sess - Silva

Anyone contemplating Evans for the WC?

I've had him before and the lads served me very very well. Anyone tempted?

I had him last season when he was at 0.4% owner ship. Grabbed me a couple of goals he did. I think I'll go with Evans + Kosc with a 3 way rotation for my WC. Sound decent?

Hi all, been away and so will appreciate up to date knowledge 🙂

    1FT

    Szesney
    Distin/Coleman/Dawson
    Walcott/Cabaye/Januzaj/Redmond
    Suarez/Lukaku/Rooney

    Mannone/Williams/Silva/Flanagan

If Rooney's likely to start shall I just do
    A) Williams -> Koscielny Or
    B) Swap Silva out instead Or
    C) Both?

Liverpool. I've not seen much of them this season. Take Suarez out & do they become no better than a mid table team, or are they more than a one man team? Is Suarez scoring so much because of or in spite of the players behind him?

While Suarez was banned they did pretty well, but obviously he's an exceptional player too. He's probably scoring so much mainly because he's incredible at tearing weak defences apart.
