The Big Numbers – Gameweeks 18-20

With the frantic festive period now behind us, we can finally take stock and assess the statistics over the last few matches. Having last looked at the data in Gameweek 17, we have three sets of matches to investigate – Arsenal’s midfield, Tottenham’s attack and United and City’s frontmen are all placed under the microscope this time around:

Are Amalfitano (4.5m) and Redmond (4.6m) going to rise to prominence?

For a WC defence, would you rather have

    A) Terry, Koscielny, 4.5, 4.0, 4.0
    B) 2 of Nastasic/Evans/Azpi, Koscielny, 4.0, 4.0
    C) 1 of Nastasic/Evans/Azpi, Koscielny, 4.5, 4.0, 4.0 and upgrade a midfielder

I'd say B with Azpi, Nasty and Koscielny.

I have pretty much had a template of 5.5, 5.0, 4.5, 4.5 and 4.0 in my defence from the start. I guess I'm lucky in that I had Coleman from GW1 and got Mert in at 5.5 so whilst my template in terms of money paid hasn't changed the values of the premium players in it make it appear like I have a couple of 6.5 players in it

I'd rather not have it this season but as I've got 7 of the top players in my squad already, and those that aren't are mainly the ones who've come to form recently, it's only going to benefit me as rivals will just get the same players I already have and continue to play catch-up! 🙂

Not much I want to change really, currently rank 142 with a team value of 111.3. Happy with that! 😀

Cheers, it's been a good season after a poor start and terrible captain choices for the first few months! 😀

That's the thing with the wildcard though - it's a point of view thing, if I was halfway down my league and struggling then I'd probably be desperate to use it, as it is I'm about 230 points ahead so I don't need it and my main problem now is getting complacent!

doubt it, but could run him pretty close. Baines might get a 2-3 more goals than Terry, Terry will get 3-4 more CS than Baines. Terry will get more BPS in those CS too, being a CB.

Terry will come good in the last 10-15 gws IMO. Chelsea haven't conceded a goal from open play in the last 4 gws cuz Mourinho has gone back to basics. So, Terry for me over Baines although I have Coleman.

Maybe a Sunderland defender? They aren't scoring many goals atm so they will have to rely on CS to grind out results. I might even double up on Sun def in my WC team.

I'm wildcarding for GW 23. Who's with me?

The main advantage of GW 22 is the Big 4 Fixtures (City vs CAR, Liverpool vs AVL, Arsenal vs FUL).
My team is pretty setup for that with Silva Yaya* Suarez Merte Walcott as most people. If I WC that week, the only addition would only be Sturridge and Nasty at most. In comparison, Ward and Adebayor have similar point potential that particular week.

With GW 23, I can setup my team pretty much for the long term as the fixture has swing. I would be really interested to bring in RVP (vs CAR) for that particular week. I'll also have Mutch as a 1 week punt instead of Lallana for GW 24 (vs NOR) before the double RVP Mutch -> Aguero Lallana swap the week after.

Not too mention the 10 days of transfer - which I think is overrated because the volume between 10 days and 3 days for GW 24 is similar. Although with longer days, the chances of double riser is a bit higher as compared to 3 days where there might be large influx of transfer in 1 day (300%+ on a player) and low on the others.

The main advantage of GW 24 WC is obviously the late transfers gem (Siggy, Cisse, Sturridge, etc). I doubt there would be a major signing this window but usually this can be transferred in with a FT or just a hit later on. I wouldn't get in a player ASAP anyway, I would like to see their performance a few GW first before bringing them in. Also, showing your cards late to your ML opponent but at this stage I doubt everyone will have too much different of a team. And I doubt the template will change much within 3 days after GW 23.

*1 week punt only - the only week I'll have him this season.

My last point exactly. People really overrate the WC 24 advantage of having the last minute signing in their team. Realistically, much will prefer watch them a few games to see how the perform first before bringing them in into their team.

        Jevan > Kos
Ned > Ade and sell Mert/Kos on Wc gw 23 ?

          Ned as in Negredo?

Well basically it's 6m Merte for you vs 5.6 Kosc. 0.4 difference not too much, and similar potential although Merte does have that bit of goal threat.

Depends on whether you need the money

            Yea Negredo ,
            .5 I'd say :
            Mert : 6.4 (83%)
            Kos : 5.4 (85%)
            I'd be selling Mert @ 6.0 and buying Kos at 5.5 I reckon ,
There's a part of me telling me to go both by doing the Ade move and see how it goes till Wc ,
It still gives me cash for Rooney > Aguero whenever.

I don't make moves just to chase TV as I don't see that as a great way to play the game. If you think KOs has more points potential than JE and don't mind the double for a while then go for it. I went that way with double Everton and it's been a pure disaster so bare that in mind.

i see your pt. OBVIOSULY anyone with remote idea of football would know who bati-gol is. After maradona, kempes, hes top 5 in argentinian history to have scored more gols for one.

But this person Daniel was trying to be sarcastic; i worte a la Batistuta, doesnt take a genius to know its a comparison within the context. Hard for him to be a bati-gol.

and you mention sunderland...well Giacherini you think hes not good? tell that to the Italian national team when England plays Italy. He will be almsot surely starting and benching other star players for them. and trust me, playing for sunderland is not the problem

btw, JULIO CESAR the gk of queens park rangers, well In Brasil he will start as gk regardless of the fact of QPR being in 2nd divison and him having an issue also w/ team.

Best to move on. The past is history, present & the future is what counts.

yes im aware and agree present & future is what counts.

but what is said and written counts quite a bit; a man's word where i come from have more worth than lots of things.

btw you mentioned sunderland...can u answer me...
Giacherini you think hes not good? tell that to the Italian national team when England plays Italy.

Of course he's good. Perhaps the club thing isn't as important.
I just thought other clubs would be chasing the player you mentioned if he was as good as you say.

seems? Salah was bought fvery cheaply by Basel after the Egyptian team he as playing for played them on a tour. Seems is the not the work, he does know what he's doing/
but it is nothing out of the ordinary to do it as most people who know fooball have long ago discovered him

for you on the contrary "it seems" as if its ok.

    Wildcard played, team is now:

    Mcgregor/mannone
    Williamson/zabaleta/coleman/ward/fonte
    Walcott/erikson/cabaye/yaya/hazard
    Adebayor/suarez/lukaku

Team value went down to 109.2, 1232 points, around 35k mark, winning my league. Money in the bank to do erikson->supercheap midfielder and adebayor->aguero

Now. Contemplating the following with my wildcard:

Change in defenders: any except coleman could change? Zabaleta-> koscielny? Cant spend any money tho so like for like or cheaper

Lukaku-> welbeck. This is the biggy. Any thoughts on this? Welbeck and Ade bth caught my eye, so did negredo->ade already.

Ade, Lukaku, Rodriquez? Pick 2 for the WC.

Currently on Lukaka and Rodriquez. I like Lukaka stats and his run of home games is off the chart. Ade is ok, but he could become lazy soon enough and I want Erriksen. So I am not so sure it is wise to have 2 Spurs. Also fixtures after this game are so so. Rodriquez allows me easily to bench him and play with 5 heavy mids. I am going with that route. Will Ozil Ramsey injuries now everyone has my Wally. Damn u casuals, I envy your luck.

    THanks

Salah is a gem for Basel. Bought for peanuts after basel played Egyptian team on a tour. He's been playing very well past yr and again this yr for Basel in UCL. if it happens, Pool would be lot more solid w/ front 4 of salah - coutinho - studge - suarez.
Sterling could develop well if allowed to have 90 min every gw / w Swa playin along michu & Bony.
