Anyone tempted to captain Rooney? It seems unlikely that he will come off the bench. If he's fit, surely he starts.

Yes, I reckon you're right. Especially after they lost v Swansea last week - if Moyes has him, he'll risk him.

I'd be reluctant to captain him though, unless you're lacking better options.

Defence is a bit weak for my liking I'm afraid especially with the poor home games Chester and Ward have til the end of the season.

Assuming you want to keep your front 8, have you considered Coleman, Bardsley + Boruc > Kosc, Nasty and Mannone? At least that way you have 2 decent defensive options instead of 1 and only have to play 1 of 3 cheapies.

Been a close vote when I've asked today so...Your thoughts please folks 🙂

The only WC decision I have left to make. I already own J Rod and Yaya.

    A) Lallana and Negredo

Pros: Cash left over to do a nice, easy Negredo > Aguero FT later.
Cons: Have to "risk" double Southampton attack.

    B) Lukaku and Silva

Pros: Lukaku probably a better long term prospect than Negredo.
Cons: More expensive, no direct route to bring in Aguero. Would require at least 2 transfers.

I had a dig through some videos earlier and watched five of his goals. Two were good but three were jammy and showed poor technique. He'll probably score a few but I really can't see him keeping up the same rate.

Maybe I picked an unrepresentative five but I've gone right off him.

For his past owners it's about whether they ended up in the back of the net. But for people wondering whether he'll score more, it's all about whether he's good enough to keep scoring from the same types of chances. On the evidence I've seen, I'd say no. If he had those chances again, he'd probably miss.

As I say though, I haven't seen all his goals or - which would be better - all his shots on goal. I might have just seen a really unfair sample.

    Lads help !

As the days go by I'm thinking of Wc :
    1 - Davis may not start ( Boruc )
    2 - Burner may not start ( Hudson )
    3 - Sterling may not start ( Studge )
4 - Rooney may not be fit
    That's 4 big ifs , I've already played my 2 ft.
    Davis ?
    Goalman (vc) / Mert / Burner ?
    Silva / Hazza / Ozil / Sterling ?
    Suarez (c) / Negredo / Rooney ?
With : Chester / Ward / dead on the bench ,
This means I've 7 guaranteed starters with 4 big ifs and 2 - 2pts off the bench if a few don't start.
Mmmmmm I don't like it especially when I have another Wc but I'm not budging yet , I really wanted to wait but it looks bad on paper ,
    Any thoughts ?

A few things have changed since I played my WC on Tuesday.

    Current team:

    Szczesny (Marshall)

    Kosc Azpi Nast (Evans Chester)

    Hazard Silva Ozil Oscar (Livermore)

    Suarez Rooney JRod

What would you do on a WC? Had Negredo right up until this GW and was reluctant to drop him (honestly) so considering him again.

Safer bet than Rooney right now. Would rather have Lallana than Oscar and upgrade JRod to Lukaku/Ade perhaps.

It was £110.1 before the WC and now £109.6.

I am looking at Lukaku who has some nice fixtures and has almost slipped under the radar. Welbeck is scoring for fun as well, just look at his last 5 GWs!

Every time I own Lallana he does nothing for a month 🙁

I'm desperate to get Lallana in. I'm a long term Lukaku owner and reluctant to get rid with his fixtures, especially given the run he went on when he joined Everton. May go in the WC though.

I like Welbeck, but he isn't nailed on long term and is playing in a team out of form, so I think the boats gone on that one.

With £110m, you'd do well to get a bad team! 😉 Love to have that kind of money!

    I'll ask again.

Thought about bringing Giroud in for Rooney this week, but am now leaning towards Negredo. My question is, given I have Silva already and if he's fit I'll be getting Kun in next week is Silva, Kun and Negredo too much City attack for the Cardiff game? What to do?

    a) Keep Rooney, probably go -4 next week to sell him and Lukaku to Kun and Bony
    b) Sell for Giroud and keep him for 2 GWs before selling for Bony
    c) Bring in Negredo, under the same terms as Giroud

Treat yourself to A, although I'm not keen on Henderson as a pick. You must have spent big bucks up front!

Is a Lallana/Adebayor combo worth the extra 1.7m over an Eriksen/Rodriguez combo? You can do a lot with 1.7m, like keep it in the bank and switch Negredo out for Aguero when the time comes.

    Smart idea?

I don't really like Eriksen as an option (yet) whereas I like the other 3. That said though, I think the 1.7m is quite a big difference so would be tempted to go with the latter option.

How's this? Enough in the bank for Rooney -> Aguero.

    Mannone (Davis)
    Coleman, Koscielny, Clyne (Chester, Ward)
    Yaya, Ozil, Hazard, Silva (Noone)
    Rooney, Suarez, Adebayor

    Cheers!

thanks for the input everyone, another question to ponder.

I will lose .6 if I sell Rooney now and want him back. Otherwise, I love my WC.

Suck it up and sell Rooney then?

I wonder if I leave myself enough cash, with all the other wanted players in place on my WC, if I could use my FTs to move Aguero and Rooney in and out of one spot...at least for a little while. Anyone ever implement that strategy before?

Its a good strategy Fuzzy - just don't know if Aguero / Rooney would be the combo I would choose.

Presumably this combo would be scoring goals each week - even with a little money left over - the price increases week to week would mean that eventually you could not afford to continue buying them back.

Also, you know how it goes - you may need an urgent transfer(s) due to injuries to your starting 11.

Overall, a good short-term strategy - particularly if you see a 3-4 GW period where such a rotation would milk points for you hand over fist !

      Best of luck !

yeah i prefaced the notion with "short term". The idea would be to decide on the hot hand when the time came where I couldn't just keep swapping, and stick. Why not the combo of Roo and Kun barring fitness for you? Both armband material with natural home away rotation.
