The Weekend Team News

Filed under: Team News - Posted by: Demi

Arsenal are missing a trio of players for the visit of Fulham. Swansea’s injury troubles ease. Sylvain Distin returns for Everton. Joe Allen is back for Liverpool. John Guidetti is in Stoke’s squad to face Palace. Nathan Baker is ruled out for Villa, whilst James Collins may be fit for West Ham’s home clash against Newcastle:

Aaron Ramsey is still ruled out for Arsenal’s clash with Fulham and is joined on the sidelines by Thomas Vermaelen and Mikel Arteta, but Arsene Wenger expects the two midfielders to return for the Gameweek 23 trip to Southampton. Nacho Monreal and Tomas Rosicky are set for late tests, though the Gunners boss thinks ”both of them will be alright”.

Sylvain Distin has returned to training for Everton and could figure against West Brom on Monday evening. The Everton squad flew out for warm weather training in Tenerife and Roberto Martinez revealed new boy Aidan McGeady “looks sharp” as he continues to build up his match fitness.

Rene Meulensteen has confirmed that Fernando Amorebieta is Fulham’s only doubt as they prepare to take on Arsenal. The defender picked up a knee ligament problem in training and will need to be assessed.

West Ham are ”hopeful” James Collins will return from a calf injury for the home game against Newcastle. Ravel Morrison also confirmed to the club’s official website he has been working hard to get back to full fitness following a groin injury.

Chris Hughton gave an injury update on Thursday revealing that winger Anthony Pilkington and central midfielder Alex Tettey have both returned from injury lay-offs. The duo will be in the squad for Norwich’s clash with Hull this weekend.

Aston Villa will be without Nathan Baker for the trip to Anfield this weekend. The defender was stretchered off with concussion against Arsenal on Monday, with Paul Lambert revealing “he’s still feeling a bit groggy with a bit of a sore head”.

Brendan Rodgers reveals that Joe Allen has returned to training following an abductor problem and could figure against Aston Villa. The Liverpool boss also intends to check on the fitness of Mamadou Sakho, who has missed the last couple games with a hamstring issue.

Thomas Sorensen is back for Stoke but will have to accept a role on the bench, with Jack Butland a confirmed starter for the trip to Palace. Loan signing John Guidetti is also in the squad, though Robert Huth and Andy Wilkinson remain sidelined along with Asmir Begovic.

Swansea delivered positive news on the fitness of wingers Nathan Dyer, Pablo Hernandez and Roland Lamah ahead of the visit of Tottenham Hotspur. Roland Lamah is expected to return to the Swansea squad to face Spurs this weekend, whilst Pablo Hernandez and Nathan Dyer and Dwight Tiendalli are all in with a chance of shaking off injuries. Jonathan De Guzman remains sidelined with an ankle problem. Michel Vorm should return to training next week after minor knee surgery and Jose Canas awaits further scans on the ankle injury that forced him off at United.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

  1. Hey, would you guys rate my team please.
This is how I picture my WC team. I will play my WC next GW

    Marshall (Mannone)
    Koschiel, Kolarov, Coleman (Chester, Gabbi)
    Lallana, Eriksen, Cabaye, Ramsey, Hazard
    Suarez, Aguero (Bony)

    Bank: 0,1

  2. Wild Rover:

Since we have the same midfield: you got ASS or ASG upfront?

Wondering if upgrading Poz to Januz would be worth going for Giroud over Sturridge..5th mid but still..hmm

    • 8 months, 5 days ago
  3. Okei here we go: (Wild card)

    Mannone, Adrian

    Sagna, Clyne, Kolarov, Parr, Chester

    Hazard, Gerrard, Navas, Cazorla, Januzaj

    Giroud Negredo Suarez

Think Navas, Gerrard and Cazorla will come good in the next gameweeks. What do you guys think about this team?

  4. Need some wildcard advice please. Open to any suggestions/Improvements :)

    Boruc (McGregor)
Coleman, Kosc , Terry (Ward , Chester)
    Haz, Lallana, Eriksen,Yaya (Ki)
    Giroud, Suarez, Negredo
    0.1in the bank.

    Orrrrrr

    Team 2;
    Mannone (McGregor)
Coleman, Kosc , Terry (Ward , Chester)
    Haz, Janu, Eriksen,Yaya (Ki)
    Giroud, Suarez, Aguero
    0.3 in the bank.

    1. LOL wtf? Why not save yourself alot of typing and just ask: "Would you guys prefer to have Boruc & Lallana, OR Januzaj & Mannone?"

      Team1 wins.

    2. All depends on lallana or Janu! I'd say since Aguero bandwagon will take off again once he plays at Cardiff (off the bench probably) and grabs a cheeky goal or whatever, you might want to jump on that sooner rather than later, i.e. go with team 2 - Otherwise you might lose the option once he's shot up 0.2!

  6. Last WC fiddle for the weekend! Any glaring errors?

0 left in the bank... the idea is lowest budget bench possible to maximise all people on the pitch! Bit of a risk I know, but then...danger is my...middle name...

    Boruc (3.9 non playing)
Clyne - Coleman - kosc (Parr, Whittingham)
Yaya - Hazard - Cabaye - Eriksen (Colback, or maybe pozuelo?)
    Suarez - Aguero - Giroud

The plain is to swap out Giroud for Strurridge in time for the Liv/Ful game in a few weeks, probably dropping Cabaye to Januzaj to free up the cash.

    Any good?

    1. Any help chaps?

  7. Chances of a sterling start this weekend?

    • 8 months, 5 days ago
    1. With Sturridge starting I've lost him when playing my WC... he looked good but think he might be ousted by Rodgers now!

      • 8 months, 5 days ago
  8. My midfield is Silva - Eriksen - Hazard - Lallana - Henderson
I can't decide whether to play Lallana or Henderson this GW. If I don't play Henderson at home against AV, then why do I have him?

    • 8 months, 5 days ago
  9. FORZANCFC
    Thoughts on my wildcard please...

    Boruc
    Clyne - Coleman - Kolarov
    Yaya - hazard - kim - Januz
    Suarez - sturrige - aguero

    Marshall - ward - Chester - Ramsey

Not sure about Kim or januz, but only 0.1m left...

    Anyone thinking of gnabry??
