The ScoutCast – Episode 123 – Ghost

The title summons up imagery of Granville straddling me at the Potter’s wheel, lovingly helping to craft a clay creation as we unite to sculpt out a Van Persie bust – in true Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello” style.

That’s probably lost approximately half of our potential audience who are too young to recall the analogy. The other half are likely to be repelled by the image of Granville and I caught in a Swayze/Moore-like clinch.

If you’re part of the minority still sticking around, curious to hear how the above nonsense translates into a podcast, then listen up. You’ll catch the plenty of Wildcard ribbing, a tale of captain calamity exposed by this week’s community questions and the usual array of regulars.

Prepare to be haunted via this link or exorcise your right to stream via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So, like many people, here is my thinking.

To get a good team on the park this weekend I'm going to have to shift Coleman and Aguero, for a -8 hit.

Otherwise I play Puncheon and Gabbidon, both away to Arsenal who could well tear them a new one.

Lets assume they concede, and just 1 goal, I'll get 4 points. By bringing in (say) a west Ham defender with good chances of a CS and RVP who might at least get an assist we're looking at a likely 11 points.

Point is ... it's about even, and even then it's a gamble.

    I'M DOING IT!

Punch wasn't a bad shout for last few GW's. That's over now, and all idiots are jumping to band wagon when it's going down the gorge.

Punch was not a bench fodder. He was a starter for the good run of fixtures and should be sold now. Instead, people are only now buying him. They're chasing his points from last 5 GW's and will be very disappointed to see that those matches were already played and they can't get the point anymore.

This is the one bandwagon this season that, finally, will fail.

go to the members section and look at Puncheon's stats for about 5 minutes. You should have noooooo reservations playing him. He is The Best sub-7.0m mid, hands down.

Go to members section and check his last 5 fixtures. Then check his next 5. You should have nooooooo reservations selling him. He was best sub-7.0 mid for last few GW's, but it's all down hill from now on.

first 18 weeks of the season:

Puncheon has fewer (better) minutes/chance created than: Ramsey, Lampard, Lamela, Shelvey, Oscar, Fernandinho, Januzaj, Yaya, Barkley

Puncheon has fewer (better) minutes per touch inside box than: Barkley, Shelvey, Yaya, Lampard, Gerrard

Puncheon has fewer (better) minutes per attempt from inside box than: Ozil, Lallana, Nasri, Yaya, Cabaye, Javi Garcia, Gerrard, Eriksen, Barkley

He's the best 5th mid, choke on it. Oh and link your team so we can see what heights your intuition has achieved.

I feel this week is crucial in terms of turning my season around. Need a string of good results in order to climb to a decent OR.

    Here's the team atm:

    Mannone, Boruc
    Ivanovic, Kos, Ward, Baker, Chester(!)
    Ozil, Haz, Silva, Eriksen, Noone
    Suarez, Aguero(!), Giroud

I obviously will shift Aguero, the million dollar question is for who.

    A) Aguero > Adebayor/ Sturridge/ Rooney for free
    B) Aguero > RVP(-4) . Would need to downgrade Ivanovic > 4.8 or Silva > Mirallas/ Lallana

    What do you guys think?

Will most likely shift Ozil and/or Giroud next week for Arsenal's tough run of fixtures.

I would say B just because Dzeko's is at risk of rotation but both are viable options at the moment.

Palace will keep a clean sheet at the Emirates. They have conceded .83 goals per game since Pulis took over and only conceded 2 at the Bridge and 1 at the Etihad. Arsenal aren't exactly 'free-scoring' as of late.

Now IF Aguero is going to be injured for a bit. I could do this with my WC and to be honest I think it looks pretty good.

    Mannone - Boruc
    Chico - Coleman - Ward - Mertesacker - R Bennett
    Yaya - Eriksen - Mata - Hazard - Puncheon
    Benteke - Giroud - Suarez

But I really would want to be convinced regarding Aguero

    Aguero major headache

-1 short of being able to do Aguero to RVP

Dont really want anyone else so thinking

    Aguero to RVP
    Bony to Jrod -4

It either that or take out Coleman with Aguero

Goals are what matters. In that case Eto'o was shot at Barca and Cole shit at Man Utd cause they weren't as clinical as RVN. Still getting goals.

So the plan was Silva-Mata this week which I did maybe foolishly to catch the price rise before City had played (in my defence I was slightly drunk) then Ozil-Yaya next week. Aguero has scuppered that plan, also carrying Coleman Chester and Pozuelo I'm really tempted to take a -8 this week to bring in Rvp and Evans, I'm still in the cup and have been handed a favourable draw, he still has his wildcard however but I'm not so sure he realises. If I take the -8 and I get through it will put me in a much stronger position against what I would expect to be a much more difficult opponent next round, if I give him an 8 point start and don't beat him I will be kicking myself so have a bit of a dilemma here, this would be my team with the -8

    Boruc
    Evans Azpi Kosc
    Mata Eriksen Ozil Hazard
Rvp Suarez Ade (Davis Ward Pozuelo Chambers)

Will this team turn over an 8 point hit against

    http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1580353/history/

Realise the post is a bit long winded but would really appreciate some feedback on this.

Wenger has always been a bit skeptical of Podolski while acknowledging he is a good finisher, as he doesn't really rate his all round play, while that's what he always praises about Giroud. Anything in particular to change that this week?

I would happily do Dzeko too, but there's a chance he won't start ... with Jovetic back Pellegrini could go for Negredo / Jovetic up-front ... especially with Chelsea's backline they'll need someone a little more nimble like Negredo.
