The Fantasy Football Scout Leagues Round-Up

With no Frisking the Fixtures articles left this season, our schedule is freed up to assess the progress of our Fantasy Football Scout leagues across a variety of games. With leagues in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League, Sky Sports, Sun Dream Team and Champions League games, we have plenty to analyse:

Fantasy Premier League

Last week’s ScoutCast guest Luke Weston continues to lead the way at the top of the Scout league and overall standings. The world number one earned 70 points last week, with Leighton Baines, Christian Eriksen, Sergio Aguero and captain Luis Suarez all delivering double-figure returns as Luke moved onto 2,452 points thus far.

Tom Fenley has narrowed the gap to just two points after an 89-point return in Gameweek 35. Tom also had the above-mentioned quartet but crucially had Raheem Sterling’s 18 points to thank for yet another outstanding week.

Rasmus Sundman also had Baines, Eriksen, Aguero and captain Suarez on board as he produced 74 points last time around. Rasmus – who has finished inside the top 1,000 in each of the last two seasons – is sixth overall on 2,410 points.

Barry Curran deserves credit for a bold decision last weekend. He took a 12-point hit to draft in the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Aguero and Eriksen and with Martin Demichelis and Julian Speroni also delivering the returns, he climbed up to seventh overall after an 87-point Gameweek.

Eoin Maye completes our top five thanks to 78-point haul. Once again, Baines, Aguero and captain Suarez were key contributors, as was Ramsey’s 16 points away to Hull, whilst Palace pair Speroni and Joel Ward delivered yet another clean sheet.

Thanks to the extraordinary endeavours of our top five, Fantasy Football Scout remain top of the League of Leagues. To join up, the league code is 1580-1106.

In the Fantasy Football Scout Members league,Tom Fenley leads the way. Jono McPhillipsis in second spot on 2,402 points, whilst Luke van Lelyveld is just one point further back in third. The Members league is now placed fourth in the League of Leagues.

Ultimate Fantasy Premier League

Bogdan Radu leads the way in our Scout league for the Beta phase of the Ultimate game. With 847 points, he is well-placed in third spot overall, whilst Chris Pearce is tucked in just behind in second on 844 points, or fourth overall. Osita Oniah takes third, with 840 points earning him fifth in the overall standings so far.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

Dammy Olubokun’s pair of teams are joint-first in the Scout league, with 2,432 points apiece. Dammy could well be in with a shout of winning the overall game – his sides sit just four points off the summit in joint-second. In third spot in the Scout League is our very own Luke Williams, who writes our Friday afternoon Sky Sports Focus articles under the name d1sable – Luke’s team has racked up 2,401 points, earning him seventh spot in the overall standings. The winner of our Sky league, which is also top in the league of leagues, wins £1,000.

Sun Dream Team

Geoff Pryor is the runaway leader of the Scout league with a total of 1,964 points. His tactic of loading up on three of Chelsea’s backline and Liverpool’s front two has paid off so far and helped him into fifth in the overall standings, 50 points off the top. Charles Mouzon clearly knows what he’s doing in the Sun game – four of his teams complete our top five, though his highest scoring XI is still some 136 points behind Geoff. The winner of our Sun league also picks up £1,000.

Champions League

Ahead of Real Madrid’s first-leg semi-final home encounter with defending champions Bayern Munich this evening, pavel 123 is top in the Scout league on 767 points – he is also first in the overall standings. Diegocho33 is just behind on 757 points, or fifth overall, whilst third position goes to Rene Higuita, who sits in sixth overall with 746 points.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup

Our Members Cup IV is set to reach the semi-final stage this weekend, whilst the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX is down to the final eight managers. We’ll be sorting the draw later today and will publish an article on both cups tomorrow.

First let's see how this mini-season ends - i admit i wasn't expecting such a ranking at first, but now pretty much everybody in top 10 - and even top 30, with a little luck - has a chance, so i'll do my best. For next season my big problem will be that there will be price rises, so probably some temptations, and this is one of the reasons why i'm so bad at FPL. This UFPL format has forced me to make as few moves as possible, and that was good. Plus, much of the advantage i had this mini-season by planning ahead will be gone, Mark already started with the advice, so next season, most of this season's mistakes will be avoided 🙂

I'm chasing my ML leader by around 20-30 points. He's got Cech and Marshall will stand in for him, the question is, who should I play?

    A) Adrian
    B) Marshall

From what i see, the two teams are completely different, only two or three common players. So the obvious answer is that he should ignore what the other one is doing and play his A-game.

good afternoon...so how many really believe in Mourinho's words for slight tendency for weaker team against Liverpool to save best XI ag. Atletico?

worst case scenario if Jose really does play a weaker team; could be:
(4-3-3): Hilario; Kalas, Mikel, Christensen, Ake; Van Ginkel, Matic, Lampard; Salah, Ba, Schurrle

preserving best XI in his view ag Atletico:
(4-2-3-1): Schwarzer; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole; Ramires, Luiz; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Eto'o

To be fair to Jose, the league has gone. The Champions league is up for grabs. This is the priority. It is ridiculous that the game hasnt been moved to Saturday or even Friday - it would be in any other league in Europe.

As a chelsea fan I would be happy if he plays a squad team. I dont think he will throw the kids in tho. It is the back 4 that will be most interesting to see.

just one of many ex footballers who should not be allowed to "analyse" the game.

Just because they could play football doesnt mean they are qualified to talk about it in a professsional capacity.

On that note I saw Robbie Savage explaining how Utd needed to get rid of 12+ players and sign £200m new transfers. Never going to happen. In his case he wasnt even a great player. Average player, awful analyst.

The gap would be 2 points with 2 games to go.

firstly chelsea has a few injuries which effectively affect the chance of winning severely.

and more importantly if chelsea win pool only city will benefit. its not in chelsea's hand really. The possibility of both pool and city dropping points in the final 2 games vs a home win against a madrid. guess it does not take some1 too bright to figure out which is more realistic.

I don't think that one thing is a key factor in success like appointing a director of football. For it to work the club has to have a strategy, an understanding of where they are and want to go. It can't be a case of the tail wagging the dog. And with Bayern the old boys get the job they understand the club.

      1) Is Rooney a must have this week?
      2) Is Yaya must have next week?

Mannone / Zaba, Coleman, Baker / Ramsey, Silva, Eriksen, Mata / Suarez, Lukaku, Aguero

Distin, Dann, Delph 1FT, 2.2 ITB

      A)
      36: Lukaku, Silva -> Rooney, Amalfitano (-4)
37: Eriksen -> Yaya Toure + maybe Distin for a manu defender
that gives me front 7 for DGW: YAYA, MATA, Ramsey, AMALFITANO, Suarez, AGUERO, ROONEY

      B)
      36: Lukaku, Silva -> Rooney, Nasri (-4)
      37: Distin -> manu defender
that gives me fron 7 for DGW: NASRI, MATA, Ramsey, Eriksen, Suarez, AGUERO, ROONEY

Evra must be the safest without looking at line-ups or anything as long as he's fit. Can't see Giggs playing Buttner.

      Hart, Foster
      Coleman Cahill Chester Ward Baker
      Mirallas* Lallana Gerrard Snodgrass Ramsey
      Suarez Aguero Lukaku

      1.4 banked, 1 FT

      A) Lallana Cahill > Mata Kosc (-4)
      B) Hart (useless bugger) & Mirallas > Mata + cheap keeper (-4)
      C) Mirallas Cahill > Mata Monreal (-4)
      D) Mirallas Snodgrass > Mata Amalfitano (-4)

Or any other suggestions would be fantastic!
