Ultimate Fantasy Premier League – Fantasy Football Scout League Details

Last week saw the official launch of the new pay-to-play Ultimate Fantasy Premier League (UFPL) game for the season ahead. After taking part in the beta-phase in the final few months of the previous campaign, we’re keen to get involved again and plan to publish an in-depth guide over the next week or so, assessing the rule set and variety of strategies involved:

Costing £5 entry per team, the UFPL is a squad-based game that offers a cool £25,000 winner’s prize and a monthly prize of £1,000. For those unfamiliar, we’re essentially handed a budget of £160m to build our 25-man squads but, for each Gameweek, can only select an 18-man squad, leaving seven of our squad out in the cold.

The UFPL favours the more hands-on approach and affords us a “stick or twist” dilemma for every day of the Gameweek, which allows us the option of replacing poor performers with options off the bench – a concept familiar with those who played the FIFA McDonald’s World Cup 2014 or the UEFA Champions League games.

For those who are looking to get involved or have already began to tinker with their first drafts, we’ve set up the official Fantasy Football Scout league – to join, the code is 524-87.

Thinkin' him and Ben Davies are good pickups. Young and exuberant. Cute. Can bomb up the flanks with potential for offensive returns. These guys could be the secret to a strong D, good looking D that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Here's some stats on potent left-backs last season, and how they may figure under the new BPS system.

What is clear is that Luke Shaw will prosper if he keeps up this level. And a likelihood that chances created and crosses becoming chances will increase at United.

      Luke Shaw:

      Matches: 35

      Dribbles: 111

      Crosses: 142

      Chances created: 35

      Patrice Evra:

      Matches: 33

      Dribbles: 51

      Crosses: 130

      Chances created: 38

      Leighton Baines:

      Matches: 32

      Dribbles: 68

      Crosses: 130

      Chances created: 49

      Kieran Gibbs:

      Matches: 28

      Dribbles: 51

      Crosses: 71

      Chances created: 13

Stuck as to whether I want to play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 this year.

    My midfield is:

    Yaya, Ramsey, Eriksen, Mirallas, Shelvey.

    My forwards are:

    Costa, Pellè, Jelavic

I intend to swap Mirallas for Tadic (and risk doubling him up with Pellè) after GW1. As well as swapping Costa for Rooney after GW2, depending on Costa's form, and Rooney's position under LVG.

I would like to upgrade Jelavic to Bony in order to play 3-4-3 every week, but the only way that I could afford this is by downgrading one of my more-expensive midfielders. With Bony upfront, I wouldn't want Shelvey in midfield - should I downgrade Shelvey (to a 4.5) and Tadic (to a 7.0) so that I can upgrade Jelavic to Bony, (I already have 0.5 in the bank).

The fifth midfielder would be a bench player, and I'd start my four strong midfielders and three strong strikers each week.

Is this worth a go, or not?

Bony had a great goalscoring record in his first year, so I'm backing him to do even better this time around.

Just realised that I'd have to downgrade Tadic to a 6.5, not a 7.0, but I'm probably going to change whichever of Pellè and Tadic impresses me least by GW7. Pellè would be changed to Bony (providing that he starts well), and Shelvey would go to a 4.5 benchwarmer. Tadic may go to a 4.5, leaving me with 3.0 (+ NY 0.5) in the bank to upgrade Jelavic to Bony, and Shelvey to someone better.

assuming Siggy goes to Swansea and Bony doesn't leave. Where does he play given they have Gomis and Shelvey ❓

A Siggy marooned on the left wing doesn't hold quite the same appeal in FPL. Or am I wrong?

he's in for me atm, but if something doesn't chance I can see myself reverting to Fabregas and a cheap striker over Siggy and Costa

    Eriksen or Tadic?

Southampton have wonderful fixtures and really like Tadic as a prospect, I think he'll do very well. Nevertheless Eriksen feels like the safer bet.

    What do you think?

Eriksen has proven he can get the points. So, for me, I think it's a start with Eriksen while monitoring Tadic. Man....lots of options this season, especially when you consider the crop of guys coming in. Really are some promising punts among the new lads.

Yeah. Fabregas should pick up right where he left off too. And Rooney is pretty much always a good bet for points, both from assists and goals. Two heavy hitters for sure, provided they get the proper minutes, which I assume they should.

Makes for a rather imbalanced team. Swansea and Sunderland aren't poor enough to concede enough for this to be worth it imo.

who do we see dropping out of the rock solid chelsea defence of last season for him?

    none of them imo

the chelsea defence that finished last season will start the new and luis will have to earn his place..

    thoughts?
