The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Demi who is looking for feedback on this team:

De Gea/Hamer

Mariappa, Wisdom, Davies, Debuchy, Terry

Mata, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Hazard, Albrighton

Diego Costa, Rooney, Diouf

Demi says he is pretty set on having David De Gea and a non-playing keeper, and it’s one of the few positions that have remained constant in all his drafts. Juan Mata, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Christian Eriksen and Eden Hazard have all featured strongly in most of his thoughts too, but, apparently, he could be persuaded to start the season with Cesc Fabregas and use the extra cash to upgrade his defence. Speaking of which, John Terry is the one certainty in Demi’s rearguard: the others are more doubtful. Demi is currently undecided as to whether to keep an Arsenal defender in his side, with Debuchy his current preferred selection.

Up front, Wayne Rooney is locked in, but Demi has been really struggling for inspiration on the other two forward spots. Diego Costa seems as good as any option for the first three or four games; he’s not keen on Olivier Giroud or Edin Dzeko with their respective fixtures. Would he be better off downgrading Costa and instead focusing on solidifying his defence?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

      7. Vermaelen transfer is doubtful IMO, Cameron and Wisdom are a punt (plus you have two WBA defensive players). De Jong could pay off but is arrisk.

not a fan of the double 4.5 keepers - have you considered 5-4.0?
      Cameron/wisdom unsure
Do you need de Jong and Siggy? you are planning a siggy/bojan rotation I presume so whats dejong doing in the mix? your other top 5 should play week in week out.

10 for the other lines 3 for defense
Do you have .5 for Debuchy over Vermalen(that plane will not be taking off).
Spurs Defs have better fixtures than Ward.
If Bojan starts, you may want to scrap the 3-5-2 and pu a Man City defender

    Hi all - first post!

    Quick RMT if I may:

    Begovic / Foster

    Luis / Evans / Ward/Caulker (rotation) / Wisdom

    Hazard / Mata / Ramsey / Siggy / Albrighton

    Rooney / Dzeko / Austin

£2m (!!!) left in bank. Advice on how best to spend much appreciated 🙂

Cheers! Was torn on dzeko or costa, but couldn't not have a city striker with aguero out (although their fixtures are horrible)

        Considerations:

        - Begovic -> Krul: save 0.5
        - BDavies in for Ward/Caulker and replace the other with a 4.5: save 0.5
        - Use the 3m to upgrade dzeko to sturridge, so can then swap with costa if necessary

        Also to below, 3-4-3 🙂

Stick with Begovic great fixtures other than Man City. I don't know that Aguero is out by opener, though he looks a 60 minute man.

Sturridge is damaged currently, stick with a move to Costa.

He's got it.Costa. Dzeko will contest for minutes with Jovetic until Aguero goes down.

Or at least get rid of Austin and pu Bojan and upgrade Evans to a Man City DEF or Shaw or Debuchy til Gibbs returns.

Why do you want Foster? you will want to play begovic every week. I'd switch him for a 4.0 and use the 0.5 elsewhere.
Your main priority should be to get a second heavy hitter upfront alongside Rooney.

This my current team but not fully satisfied yet, esp. with Targett & Dummett, prob not nailed on

    Krul/Foster
    Ward/Caulker/Targett/Dummett/Terry
    Sanchez/Hazard/Mata/Arnie/Siggy
    Rooney/Dzeko/Bojan

In the beginning Arnie was very popular but now he disappeared. Any reason? And which of the following:
Terry + Dzeko OR 4.5 DEF + Costa, but then my defence is without any big guy...

Would appreciate any thoughts, THANK YOU

The 4.0 flavour of the day is Kyle Bartley who's played regularly in pre season for Swansea. Dummett should play early on with Santon injured, although maybe Haidara is back? Not sure. Moore of Leicester should play, I'd put him in for Targett.

Also not sure about you having two Stoke attackers. I'd consider Henderson in for Arnie if I were you, or put Albrighton in for one of the midfielders (Siggy or Arnie) and upgrade a midfielder, or upgrade Bojan.

Dzeko could well prove to be a risk what with Jovetic's form. Perhaps you could take out Arnie for Albrighton to free up that 2m and put Costa in for Dzeko?

Terry and Dzeko especially if Aguero is knocked. If not make sure Jovetic isn't getting over on Dzeko.

Targett would be great if he starts and is in midfield. I've got Dummett. Not to many starting 4.0's not on the promoted teams.

Want Sanchez? Gonna have to drop Cesc. Downgrade Lukaku and his fixtures for Giroud or Dzeko. And downgrade Nasri or Ericksen.

Aguero not likely to start, I think you could change to Dzeko and Jovetic up top for the same money as Aguero + Zamora.
I'd consider downgrading one of the Tottenham mids to Siggy and upgrading the defence with the £2m.
If you're only having Krul as a playing keeper why not have Elliot as the sub?

        1) I'm not worried about GameWeek1 its more long-term. + He rotates captaincy with Rooney.
        2) I considered Siggy instead of Lamela/Eriksen, but I can see them two replicating the form of VDV&Bale.

Nice solid team. Even though Sturridge was a beast last season I would be weary of him this season. No Suarez in the team puts all the focus on him as the main man now. Also how many goals did Sturridge score off a Suraez re-bound, assist etc or just the defense putting a lot of emphasis on Suarez to stop him and leave Sturr open. I do expect a drop in form by him but to still do well. While I do expect him to do well I don't expect him to live up to his 11.5 price tag... Look at RVP last year. The year united won the title he was a hero at the club. Next season he was slapped with a 14.0 price tag and was pure dog due to injury after injury. I expect some of the same this season with Sturrudge and I bet I am the only one!

3-5-2? I'd go Zamora and drop Austin and pu Debuchy (until Gibbs back) or a Man City DEF (Kolorov at the present).

is it a good or bad idea to have a 4.5 forward benchwarmer to spend in midfield? Thanks

If you're not gonna strt him drop Siggy for a 4.5 and upgrade Chester to a 6.0 Shaw or MCI def, or even that plus drop Krul, and pu Terry. (love Begovic until week 10, MCI not withstanding)

    DDG (4m)
Caulker, B Davies, Wisdom (Ward, Chester)
    Fab, Mata, Ramsey, Albrighton (Siggy)
    Costa, Dzeko, Rooney

Any advice would be much appreciated,

    Been tossing up between:
    A) Dzeko + Fab + Caulker
    B) Austin + Haz + Terry

As I stated with other people I am not 100% on Costa one bit. With Rooney in your team at the same price bracket you can afford to downgrade a slight bit and upgrade a little in defense

He isn't a particularly good player to watch but he is big, ugly and suited to the PL. Just what Chelsea were missing last season imo.

I know he is a bit of a gamble, I'm just not too keen on the other striker options I'm seeing so far, at least with Costa I can downgrade him to any cheaper option that emerges early doors

      B) you need a Chelsea Def.

don't care for Austin what about keeping Bojan and playing 3-5-2?

Also Siggy over Albrighton most weeks.

Looks good, Bardsley likely to take Cameron's place though?

Yea he is my only worry really. Hope Bojan gets plenty of game time too. If Cameron plays, my defence rotates extremely nicely though, and having a Stoke defender is central to that. I can pretty much play 3 defenders with "easy" home fixtures for the first 10 weeks. Allows me that attack

Good team. Might want to go w/4.0 defenders to upgrade for a Chelsea back, or I'm liking Debuchy at 5.5.

Don't agree with Skitelord on specifics likely.

      Luis Felipe-6.0 Debuchy _(until Gibbs)-5.5 Coluccini/ Vlaar/Cameron(nailed doubts)-4.5 Dummett/Wasilewski/Duff -4.0

Take Debuchy (until Gibbs back) over Verm for now, and downgrade Cameron who is no longer nailed down. I like Dummett amongst 4.0's.

Ok guys, made a slight change to try and get Chelsea/UTD coverage.

Dropped Eriksen for Herrera to make the extra 0.5 and swapped Dzeko for Costa. This does now mean I have NO man city coverage though. Thoughts?

    Mannone
    Cameron/Cahill/Debuchy
    Arnautovic/Ramsey/Hazard/Herrera/Sigurdsson
    Rooney/Costa

Herrera is pointless, he'll be deeplying and 'assist the assiter' for lack of a better phrase. Avoid (IMO). For that price range, you could try Tadic or De Jong which are better punts. Or downgrade Wickham to Bojan and get an 8.0 midfielder such as Eriksen or Lamela.
