The Weekend Team News

Angel di Maria could be set for his United debut this weekend. Bojan Krkic returns to full training after recovering from a knock. James Collins joins the Hammers’ injury list after sustaining a hamstring injury, while Wilfried Zaha could be set to turn out for Palace if his loan deal is sealed in time.

Angel di Maria could be poised for his United debut at Burnley after joining from Real Madrid on Tuesday, though compatriot Marcos Rojo is unlikely to receive a work permit in time. Shinji Kagawa sustained concussion in the cup loss at MK Dons and looks set to miss out, with Louis van Gaal stating United now have 10 injured players as they head to Turf Moor.

Bojan Krkic has returned to full training after missing Stoke’s midweek cup match. Mark Hughes is without Geoff Cameron, though, while fellow right-back Phil Bardsley is a doubt – the summer signing has failed to train all week with a knee problem.

Mikel Arteta and Kieran Gibbs remain sidelined with injury as Arsenal head to Leicester. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that keeper David Ospina in back in full training but is likely to miss out on the clash against Nigel Pearson’s Championship winners.

Sebastien Pocognoli (thigh) is a doubt for West Brom’s trip to Swansea with a thigh problem. Victor Anichebe is expected to recover from a groin complaint, whilst Gareth McAuley, James Morrison and Cristian Gamboa are all in the squad after featuring in the midweek cup clash with Oxford.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins has picked up a hamstring injury and is out of the Hammers’ home match against Southampton, while new boy Diafra Sakho is a doubt with a back problem.

The Saints, meanwhile, have a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with only wide man Lloyd Isgrove, along with long-term absentee Jay Rodriguez, ruled out by Ronald Koeman.

Cheick Tiote remains out for Newcastle’s home encounter with a hamstring problem. Jack Colback has recovered from the knock that saw him miss the Capital One Cup clash with Gillingham and, along with young winger Rolando Aarons, is in the Magpies’ squad.

Harry Redknapp has revealed Charlie Austin – who missed out last week with a hamstring problem – will be assessed again today before deciding whether the frontman can return to training. Alejandro Faurlin is set for an extended period on the sidelines after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the midweek cup loss to Burton Albion.

Wilfried Zaha looks poised for his Palace debut bow at Newcastle after rejoining the club on a season-long loan deal yesterday. Joe Ledley could be set to miss Palace’s trip to Newcastle with the groin problem sustained in the warm-up prior to last week’s loss to West Ham. Scott Dann is in with a chance of recovering from a thigh knock, though.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

reckon ramsey could be on penalties against leicester. arteta out, giroud out, ozil suffering from a penalty confidence crisis (never took germany's penalty in the world cup either)

            Which we are 😎

We don't need a Suarez up front, we just need a poacher that can also hold the ball up for Bale/Ronnie to run past. Benzema does it well, Falcao could be great..

I know, he's more of a poacher than a target man, I'm not sure if Benzema is either tbh, he's more of a creator mixed with poaching abilities..

Still feel Falcao can offer a very good alternative to Benzema, it's better than having Morata as back up anyway! and we got decent money for Morata so...

I thought the decision to sell Morata was strange but there you go.

One thing in favour of this move is that Falcao is a galatico and that's who Madrid signs, regardless of suitability 😉

                    9 years, 8 months ago

Morata wasn't worth the money we got for him, maybe in a different team or system but he was too slow, couldn't dribble, could barely pass. He's a complete poacher and couldn't really get involved much in the build up play, always looked sub-standard when he came on, except for the odd goal.

I'm happy with €20 mill for Morata 🙂

Haha yeah, for better or worse 😛

Chelsea have been tipped to move for Mattia Destro, if Fernando Torres completes his transfer to AC Milan, but Roma insist the Italy international striker is not for sale. Destro, who has also been linked with Tottenham this summer, had been mooted as a €25million (£19.9m) target for Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

My thinking exactly. I'm struggling to see who will get 25+ this year. Aguero and Sturridge are the two most dangerous to me IMO, but both have shaky injury history, and now with Balotelli, Lambert, Dzeko, Jovetic and Negredo to come, could possibly have their game time reduced with champions league football to contend with. I don't feel Costa, nor the Man Utd boys will score that many. Just an opinion though who knows what'll happen!

    Current team.

    Krul

    Debuchy Jones Wisdom

    Siggy Rambo Mata Hazard

    Dzeko Costa Rooney

I have 2 free transfers so I can easily taka 1 week punt on someone for Costa if he is deemed unfit and still have 2 freebies after the international break to rebuild the team.

Who is best one week punt for Costa?

    Jovetic
    Bony
    Riviere
    Someone else?

I'm thinking of getting Jovetic if it looks like Costa's just out for the weekend. If he's out for longer, I'll find a way of getting Sturridge.

Pretty tough to call between those 3, I reckon. All could have a big week.

I have Chester, Isgrove and Bartley on the bench. Surely swapping Costa for Jovetic is worth -4 then? I could also go for Aguero but then I would have to downgrade Terry, Hazard or Mata to someone 1.5 cheaper and go -8, that's not worth it right?

4.0 defenders...Who are the most nailed on...Is it Moore Hutton and Duff ?....anybody know much about Duffs nailedoniness in particular (fixtures change soon)...and am I right in thinking Wisdom and Dummett carry a slightly bigger risk than the first three ?

Want to take a punt on RVP (C) this weekend in for Costa, but as a Burnley fan I can't bring myself to do it. If costa doesn't play, I presume his price will drop over the break. Alternatively, thinking of Dzeko and Costa > Studge & 7.5 mil (maybe remy)
