The Big Numbers – Gameweek 1-3 – Forwards

The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.

How's this look for my WC?

    Krul/guz
    Dier, Moreno, Clyne, Vlaar,Taylor
    Ramsey, fab, sterling, sig, dyer
    Balo, Welbeck, costa

AVL have terrible fixtures coming up, would not use Vlaar/Guzan. Not sure how severe Dier's problem is? Doubling up on SWA for trip to CHE? Not sure about that tbh. Rest looks OK

guzan is a solid pick as he'll get loads of save points. vlaar is poor though.

Anybody still sticking with Rooney for upcoming GW? And who's your captain? I have Rooney but will captain Costa or maybe even Sterling

Yeah im giving Rooney one last chance this weekend. I'll still probably move him for Balotelli soon anyways.

Sterling or Costa will be my captain.

im tempted by lovren>moreno to avoid potential drop and get moreno's rise, but other things stand out more, like the injury situation with costa/ramsey, and i may need to get rid of rooney or bring welbeck in somehow.

Same here. If he scores on the bench i'd be happy too as he'll continue to rise. never understood why people get so annoyed when their subs score, i cherish it as it means i can ride the rises regardless of whether they score or not. Worked for Clyne for exampe, who i benched GW1, and hopefully might happen with Wisdom soon too

    Thoughts on my WC team

    Krul
    Moreno, Ivan ,Baines
    Sterling, Siggy, Rambo, Fabs, Gerrard
    Costa, Naismith

    Elliot, Weimann, N.Taylor, Moore

Counting on my Def & Mid to pick up slack from rotating Naismith & Weimann, will play 4-5-1 when Swa have good fixtures, Weimann could become Ulloa.

One of the most cool teams ive seen. I like the Gerrard pick alot and am thinking of trying to work him in although i'll probably need to swing more than 2 trades to make it happen. Baines is a nice choice too. All round solid team but you're gambling abit with Naismith and Weimann keeping their form up.

Hey guys, currently on WildCard, really considering doing Ramsey > Silva, is that stupid? Feel that not only is he kinda injured, has tough fixtures and by the time the fixtures clear up, Walcott will be back and he could get a role slightly more defensive.

    Sorry for the repost

    Please Rate My Team

    Begovic (McCarthy)

    Duff Wilson Clyne (PVA Caulker)

    ADM Fab Ramsey Sterling (Dyer)

Looks really good mate. That's almost exactly what I would pick as well if I was on a WC, but i already have most of that team 🙂

If I were you I'd want to bring in another 5.0 defender though rather than having 3 4.5-4.9 defs. I'd consider trying to bring in janmaat 5.0 if you can since you don't have krul in goal.

In fact, maybe downgrade Bego to Krul and go for another 5.0 other than Janmaat instead of PVA. That would take care of the stoke double-up you have with wilson-bego.

I dont see Newcastle keeping many clean sheets but is see points potential in janmatt

Was wary of a stoke defender as wilson not 100% nailed, but can see clean sheets home and away, probably when had wilson on bench, but playing bego every week i get the points
See stoke a s a good park the bus option away from home

They won't park the bus away from home IMO, Hughes will be more adventurous against weaker teams; Stoke have hardly covered themselves in glory from a cleansheet perspective since he took over from TP. Based on what Gerrard said after the Spurs game, I expect Liverpool to be tighter at the back.

Quite unbeliveable that even with these price movements,I probably would have gained more money on wild card than ever in my fpl history!

Players I would have got: Sterling, Fabregas, Welbeck = 0.3
Players I have and has dropped: Rooney = 0.1
Players that will drop soon and I wouldn't have on my wild card: DDG, Terry, Caulker, Hazard = 0.4
Players that will rise before I'm able to get them in: Moreno = 0.1

0.9m lost there, regretting it bit now 😕

Yeah, temptation was very big as I have so much players on 'red', but just couldn't justify to wc just to get rid of Terry, DDG etc ahead of good homegame.

If it happens that Costa or Hazard is out next match, I will probably end wc'ing at last minute!

Meh, i lost rooney value too but gained fab, sterling, and looking to lose on lovren and caulker too... but, given how few rises there were i'd rather wait until the GW8 break by which time TPFL and Fiso guys will have figured it out and i can properly manipulate the gains day-by-day.

Choose Lovren, more long-term choice imo as Moreno could become rotated with Enrique or Flanagan. I don't think Lovren is as much at risk since he's pool's No.1 CB now.

Ramsey should be fine. I'd pick Rooney or Balotelli, and Naismith until fiurther notice becuase of Welbecks fixtures being poor.

Haha, those two transfers are exactly the ones I did in GW1 and GW2 (along with Mata>Fab and Davis>Tadic) 🙂 I can recommend both.

I'm not a fan of Szczesny as a choice early on due to tough fixtures and Arsenal have been shipping goals too. You could downgrade to Begovic or Krul.

Not a fan of your midfield choices at all tbh. Sanchez and Mata are in poor form and Silva has tough fixtures. I'd move Mata or Sanchez on for Sterling without hesitating. Bojan has decent fixtures now but is far from certain to start. Lukaku could be a better option than Dzeko for you at 0.5 upgrade btw.

    Ramsey, Fabregas, Sterling, Tadic
    Costa, Rooney, Naismith

    Krul // Siggy, Wisdom, Chambers

    0.5 itb, 1 FT

Leaning towards saving the FT this week, but am open to moving Rooney and Chambers on soon in particular, and potentially also Wisdom.

siggy on the bench brave move, but logical considering you have tadic

Thanks. I'm keeping Caulker as he could have scored 3 by now... only Ivan has more shots on goal by a defender so far. United have been poor at marking set pieces too, especially in that Sunderland game. I think he's undervalued at 4.9 and will rise once he scores a goal to remind ppl that they're idiots for selling him. Can't believe he's on the verge of dropping again, but I'm keeping him regardless as i think he's the best 5.0 range Def after Clyne. One would be mad not to buy him at 4.9 or 4.8 imo.

Siggy is my backup for Costa or Ramsey if they are injured. Might even swap them if there is enough uncertainty with either. Just can't see Siggy having much joy at SB, but ofcourse it'll be Naismith or Tadic who get the bench in the next round (or maybe even Fabregas at City!)

Yeah I've got that move on the table, but its not a pressing issue atm as he's been playing sporadically and getting points. If Arsenal have injury trouble at the back he could become great value too. I'm looking to move him soon though if things stay as they are as I need a bench player who is nailed on for 2 points in an emergency.

I've got Lovren so im saying him, but if i was on a WC i'd pick moreno simply because of how the rise/drop outlook looks atm. Lovren is the best long-term option though imo as he'll score more goals than Moreno courtesy of a certain free kick specialist.

Well then, Sturridge looks like a no go now. Really wanted to bring him in captain this week.

Got to move Jovetic. Have 12.1m to spend and a FT. Other strikers are Rooney and Costa.

    Any suggestions?

It very well could be. Not doing anything untill BR speaks.

despite not many price risers have a feeling welbeck could go up fairly quickly, started from a very low base, and with aston villa after the city game can see him being popular.

Think its well worth having him from the start and just put up with the tough fixtures, wil be better than having to pay an extra half mil in a few weeks. you never know he could still score against city. they not invincible

I've doubts that he starts against City.

Wenger has a tendency to ease players in. Welbeck has trained for just a day with Arsenal. I reckon Wenger would want to play it safe and start with Sanchez up front with Welbeck coming in as a sub.

I feel that's the Wenger way.

I have been losing sleep over whether to WC this week or not. Please can you help me ojut and put me out of my misery guys?

    Currently have:

    Foster Krul
    Ivan, Debuchy, Clyne Wisdom Bartley
    Sterling, Ramsey, Fab, Chadli, Siggy
    Costa Fletcher Roonpig

Was thinking to get Naismith, welbeck, Lamela, Shawcross or Lovren, Bego or Mig. This would mean losing Fletcher, Roonpig, Chadli, Debuchy, Foster
Was also looking a Di Maria for Man Utd as selling roonpig
And it has gone on and on all week.

Any input appreciated? Probably late in the day to WC now anyway...

Not worth a WC. Your midfield and attack is what a lot of people would choose on a WC. Defense looks decent too.

I'd look to swap fletcher with naismith, debuchy for lovren, and rooney to balotelli.. but thats just my personal preference. you sholud be able to ease those transfers in week by week if you want them though, no need to WC at all.

    Morning, Gents. 🙂

On my WC. I had Welbeck @ 6.9 so now reluctant to leave him as he's a terrific value. These are my 2 options for Front 8.

    Team A:
    Hazard, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Tadic, Mirallas
    Costa, Welbeck, Balotelli

    Team B:
    Hazard, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Tadic, Zaha
    Costa, Welbeck, kun Aguero

So basically it's Balotelli+Mirallas vs Aguero+Zaha. Option A is strong but worth noting that in that set up I'll have to bench more expensive player every GW. Would you say still it's the better one?

    Cheers in advance. 🙂

    1. Bolivian Seaman

B is better, money on the pitch

      Hey there ADN!

I like option B personally though there's not much in it. Aguero is proven and essential if healthy, while Zaha could prove terrific value and is an easy bench saving you a little headache. Nice front 8 either way though!

Good morning/afternoon/evening DZ! I've been pretty good during this international break by not tinkering too much or making any early transfers but as the new game week gets closer I feel my trigger finger itching

Somebody talk me out of the following move:

    Jovetic + Ramsey OUT
    Naismith + Di Maria IN (-4) + 2.6 ITB

Would give me money to use next week to do Rooney > Aguero with my FT. Thoughts?

I know this gets asked a lot, but are there any 4.5 - 5.0 priced midfielders worth having that aren't just bench fodder? I'm looking at:

    1) King - seems to be nailed on and involved in forward play
    2) Jones (Burnley) - quite impressed with him against United
    3) Albrighton - simply because he has played BPL before and was "ok" at Aston Villa, but don't nothing this year
    4) Quinn - will probably lose his place once HBA and Ramirez are up and running

    Thoughts?
