The Big Numbers – Gameweek 1-3 – Forwards

The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.

    Just read the Big Numbers - midfielders article. It's hard to ignore Alexis on the Wildcard, even with City and Chelsea to come. Great stats.

    Krul

    Eriksen Ramsey Sterling(c) Siggy
    Rooney Costa Jovetic

    Elliott Debuchy Hutton Albrighton

    Last post of last page so here is my different wc team. How do you like this idea:

    Bego, McCarthy
    Moreno, Bertrand, collochini, naylor, Moore

          Fair enough I personally always prefere a budget midfielder so can play other 7 could get stung on bench points .

          Atleast we marney know 9 times out 10 only missing 2 points

        His movement and pace make him a threat, things that Balotelli doesn't offer in spades.

        Sturridge is the glue that holds their attack together, in form or not. They were dreadful in preseason when Lambert played as the lone striker.

    How does this sound to u guys? 🙁 Really thinking about WC,but still dont know. This brought me to the top 41k.

    Krul
    Cahill / Jones* / Moore
    Hazard* / Ramsey* / Sterling / Siggy
    Rooney / Costa* / Naismith

    Bench:Foster* - Mahrez,Ferdinand,Naylor

    * - flagged

      I think Jones is the only one at serious risk of missing out. Keep the WC mate.

      1. Dušan Citizen
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

        And leave Ferd to come instead of Jones or take a hit to trans out Phil?

        I think I will stick with this one:

        Neto - Cassio
        Albiol - Vidic - Vulicevic - Darmian - Some Legia's guy
        Callejon - Valbuena - Radovic - Kampl - Enache
        Gomez - Soriano - Lazovic

        1. Parm
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 8 months ago

          Yep, Ferdinand will probably get 2 or 1 point anyway, so not worth a hit just to break even.

          Not sure about Valbuena, think he's a bit expensive, otherwise very good.

          Here's mine.

          Kivrak;
          Ghoulam, Naughton, Schwegler;
          Callejón, Kovacic, Vitolo, Ilicic;
          de Jong*, Depay, Soriano.

          €3.0m; Nuzzolo, Darmain, Vasiliou.

          *€3.5m in the bank, hopefully for Ba if he's fit.

              Kovacic & Ilicic both play as attacking midfielders, but I'll consider Radovic if I get Gomez.

      Both decent picks in their own right. I personally think Liverpool must get fewer penalties this year though, and with Gerrard another year older and more option for BR, I dont think Gerard will teach 200 again.

    Here's a big number...16...First flagged up Williamson last week before his goal for Newcastle...He now has more touches in the box than Sanchez, Sterling, Hazard, Chadli, Lamela, Naismith....and on and on...Not sure what the hell is going on there but he keeps doing it...

      Newcastle often have him peel to the back post and head it back across. He's isnt really a threat. I think his goal was his first in 4 years or something...

      Huge risk man... your mistake really. Sterling in should've been everyone's priority this week.

        Just curious, how did you use your FT?

          Jovetic > Welbeck

      I'm Sterling-less at the moment too. Got an FT but need to replace Sturridge. Nasri to Sterling for a hit? Or will replacing Studge with Balo be enough to cover this weekend?

        I'd definitely take that hit.

        I would do the latter. Would rather replace injured players than fit ones.

      Same problem & worry.
      I justified initially by reckoning that Liverpool haven't done well v's Villa in the league at home, I'm not so sure now.

    not sure what to do...have 2fts and 0.5

    krul
    jones bardsley chester (naylor ferdi)
    ramsey mata siggy eriksen (jwp)
    dzeko rooney costa

    A: mata >> sterling and carry over other ft
    B: mata + eriksen >> sterling + anyone upto 8.4..tadic?
    C: mata + eriksen + jones >>sterling + fab + 4.8m def (-4)

    Leaning towards A

      A looks good to mate. You'll thank yourself when you have 2 FT's next week and everybody else is scrambling with the latest injury.

    Is it too early for Welbeck or should I just stick with my original plan get Balotelli for next 3 gws?

      would balotelli be a hit? i've gone welbeck purely cause i needed the cash and i could get him for free

        Good move. Welbeck is great value. With Giroud out, I expect him to start.

            My forwards in FPL are Pelle, Welbeck, and Jovetic.

            I have the same 3 in my UFPL, but I might change to Berahino there given Blazer's and Dusan's advice below.

    Which is the better SOT / BUR / WBA combination?

    (a) Clyne, Trippier, and Berahino

    (b) Gamboa, Duff, and Pelle

      Not sure why would you choose your players like that... but A.

      1. KujaliaFC

        Because I'm playing UFPL.

        I first choose teams based on fixtures and Saturday/Sunday/Monday balance.

        Then I pick players to fit into that template based on who the best prospects from those teams are.

        Aldeweireld is going to elbow Yoshida, not Clyne, out of the starting lineup, right?

    Morning lads! With injuries a plenty I'd really appreciate a few opinions:

    Krul
    Terry *Jones* Chester
    *Ramsey* Sterling Fab Siggy
    *Jovetic* Rooney Adebayor

    Elliot - Wisdom, Marney, NTaylor

    1 FT, 2.2 itb.

    I've been keen on jovetic -> Balotelli all week, and now that Sturridge looks out for a little while, that option looks very appealing to me. Assuming Ramsey will be ok (fingers crossed), it doesn't appear to be worth making any other transfers, as jones will just have to be replaced next week. Play Wisdom or NTaylor?

    Any feedback would be much appreciated. Cheers lads

    Do defensive midfielders score well in UCL? For interceptions and tackles etc. Motta is on 16%. I'm in a draft league you see and there are loads of unpicked DMs.

    Pretty happy with this...

    Begovic;
    Terry, Jones*, Wisdom;
    Hazard, Sterling, Ramsey, Sigurdsson;
    Diego Costa, Agüero, Naismith.

    Hamer(sorry Doosra); Albrighton, Frrdinand, Hutton.

    -4; £0.5m in the bank.

    Only issue is Jones...
