Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 4 – Monday

Abel Hernandez and Mo Diame net on their Hull debut in a pulsating 2-2 home draw with West Ham. Enner Valencia strikes on his first start for the Hammers, while James Chester remains on the bench after Steve Bruce shifts to a four-man defence.

Tigers New Boys in the Goals
Steve Bruce handed deadline-day buys Mo Diame and Abel Hernandez their debuts for last night’s encounter and was rewarded after the new boys bagged a goal apiece. Diame’s introduction saw Jake Livermore shift to the right flank as the Tigers boss opted for a 4-4-2, while Hernandez joined Nikica Jelavic up front, with Tom Ince – who had previously been fielded alongside the Croatian, dropping out of the matchday squad altogether. Hernandez’ opener certainly suggests he could prove to be an inspired signing by Bruce but with City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the next five, few will be looking to invest in Hull right now.

Chester Benched as Bruce Shifts Formation
After starting the first three matches with a 3-5-2 system, Bruce’s decision to opt for a four-man defence left James Chester’s Fantasy owners with a dilemma. Granted, the Hull boss switched tactics on a number of occasions last season but if he continues with a back-four, the 5%-owned Chester may struggle to climb ahead of Curtis Davies and Michael Dawson in the pecking order. Going on Bruce’s team sheets so far, then, left-back Andrew Robertson, at 4.5, seems the safest budget route into the Hull defence.

Valencia Helps Hammers to a Point
After playing just 22 minutes in the opening three Gameweeks, the Ecuadorian netted a superb long-range effort on his first start of the season. Sam Allardyce fielded all three of his new forwards together for the first time and altered his tactical approach, as the visitors lined up in a 4-3-1-2 formation with Mauro Zarate tucking in behind Valencia and Diafra Sakho. While their two-goal haul will please the Hammers boss, his side have now failed to keep a clean sheet as he goes on the attack – with Liverpool and United next, defensive returns look hard to come by.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Folks...any suggestions to improve this team

    Krul

    Rooney / Naismith / Costa

Hey guys what do you think about:

Balotelli + Zaha -> Adebayor + Eriksen for -4 point hit?

    1. Moosie the Staggie
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 7 months ago

Sounds OK to me, but tbh I would get Chadli. He looks a different player this season and the extra cash will let you upgrade Ade if it doesn't work out.

        That would leave me with:

        Begovic - McCarthy
        Moore - PVA - Clyne - Coloccini - Moreno
Ramsey - Fabregas - Siggy- Sterling - Chadli
        Ade - Pelle - Costa

So this is my team...what do you think I should do? 1 FT and 1.7m in the bank

    DDG
    Terry Chester Caulker Moreno
    Sterling Ramsey Schurrle Siggy
    Rooney Aguero Naismith

    Thinking Terry + Schurrle ----> Ivanovic/Baines + Chadli/Mirallas
    OR
    Chester + Schurrle ----> Ivanovic/Baines + Chadli

    Open to any other suggestions.

Not sure I'd want to keep Terry though...I suppose it can wait a week or 2.
              That would mean fielding
Terry, Moreno and Wisdom/Duff this week though. Duff does have a decent fixture though..

There is too much money spent on your defense in the first place if you are playing 3 at the back.

Another 4.0 will give your team better balance imo

Mee looks good for assists, Shackell for goal threat maybe? He doesn't have much goal threat though, Mee looks a lot better on paper.

Anyone planning to do a Rooney/Costa/Aguero front 3? I've been toying with the idea but wondering if the rest of my team would suffer

    Costa/Aguero/Rooney
    Siggy/Mirallas/Ramsey/Sterling/5.0 (say JWP)
    3 x 4.5 defenders, 2 x4.0 defenders
    Begovic/4.0

i dnt see rooney as essential anymore as i think the points will be split
upgrading mirallas to di maria and replacing rooney with a revolving striker is a better option imo
(a revolving striker is one you transfer in based purely on fixtures and can act as a semi or full differential)

      1. Moody1000
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 7 months ago

rooney will keep on getting points I believe and alot of people have shipped him and gone for the Di maria route, not to mention rooney has more of a goal threat.

          • 14 Years

Rooney will be Rooney, as usual. He will frustrate and delight and his price will go up and down like a yoyo, tempting you to bring him in and ship him out in equal measure. Those who have him for the highs and ship him for the lows will be the winners. I'm going to sell for Falcao for Man Utd returns, of that I'm sure - but not yet.

yes but coming from midfield, dimaria can also contribute more assists than rooney
plus sooner or later rooney will be rotated to expriment mata falcao rvp combination while i dnt see di maria benched only for the f**k of it

      i think he is
however looking at thursday's game will give you a better indication
if hes benched then he's pretty much safe for the PL

I've got 5 players in my team who are completely inactive, either injured or just don't get picked. The rest of my team however is performing, is it worth playing the wildcard? Players not playing in capitals
    Team:
    De Gea MYHILL

    Lovren BRUCE Clyne
    Hazard Sterling Ramsey Zaha
    JOVETIC Rooney Diego Costa

    Wisdom
    DAVIES
    TAYLOR FLETCHER

No, rest of your team is good. Did you expect Myhill to play? He was always gonna be a benchwarmer... Just get rid of Bruce and Jovetic first

      u can wildcard
however a 4pts hit for jovetic and a defender out will guarantee you a starting 11

    I'm considering doing

    A) Boyd & Balotelli -> Di Maria & 4.8 fwd -4

    B) Tadic & Balotelli - Di Maria & Pellé -4

    I prefer A.

Would leave me with this front seven:

Fabregas - Tadic - Siggy - Sterling - Di Maria

    Aguero - Costa

Problem is, there really aren't any good 4.8 fwds are there, so he would effectively be a foreverbench.

    Thoughts?

Pelle will outscore tadic so worth doing B IMO

    Krul
    Cahill / Clyne / PVA
    Ramsey / Mata / Sterling / Fabregas
    Rooney / Naismith / Costa
    (Guzan / Boyd / Moore / Wisdom)

    1 FT & 0.6m ITB
    A) Cahill -> Bertrand or Naylor
    B) Ramsey -> Siggy
    C) both A & B for -4
    D) save FT & play Cahill against city

Next 2 gameweeks. Lovren & Balo Vs. Chambers & Falc.

I'm leaning toward first one because I expect Arsenal defence to be suffer cause of injuries. Also, who knows how many minutes Falc will play this week. Also, with Sturridge out, Balo should bag a few.

Lovren & Balo the correct option?
