I've not been following Stoke backline. There were a lot of uncertainty before the season. Has it settled down now. Is Wilson nailed on?

Wilson seems to be nailed on, although they've not been the powerhouse defensive unit they have been in the past. I think they'll settle, although they'll never be as solid, and boring, as they were under Tony Pullis.

    Bego
    PVA, Duff, Naylor
    Haz, Rambo, Siggy, Mata
    Ade(v), Rooney (c), Costa

    Gilks, Marney, Dummett, Clyne

two questions please and thanks DZ
    a) Rooney or Adebayor Captain?
    b) feels weird but is Clyne best left out?

Rooney is safer, Ade more risk - up to you πŸ™‚

you could argue Naylor should be left out, but the home advantage probably gives him the edge...

Cheers. Agree on Rooney being safer. Safe Captaincy makes sense to me

And yeah, home ground advantage and I have Siggy, so win-win IF they can keep a clean sheet. Don't see it being 0-0

      Rooney for me mate.

I think I'd play Clyne over Naylor. Swansea's underlying defesnive stats aren't too good. Southampton's on the other hand are much better.I also think Clyne has more attacking threat than Naylor.

      But up to you, ultimately.

Cheers Arvin-bru, Rooney it looks like. Don't think I can play both Clyne and Naylor - so I may go for the chance of a big score and play both Swansea boys. But thanks for being the devil's advocate

Would you call someone stupid if he did Fab > Hazard? Would like some differential and I believe Hazard is going to explode any time soon. He has been amazing just haven't delivered in terms of Fantasy but should do really soon

No. I'm racking my brains wondering what to do with JT.

Given form and fixtures, I'm figuring that these defenders are worth some consideration:

Bertrand, Moreno, Clyne, Naylor all mixed in with the 4.0s like Moore, Hutton and possibly a CPL or BUR 4.0-4.5.

Naylor for me Jaffalad ... looked really promising against Chelsea, they have good fixtures and are likely to snag a few CSs along the way.

I'm already regretting bringing him in, especially considering Peele's heroics and potential. Welbeck is just infuriating to watch. Goal to games ratios don't usually lie. The whole argument about playing out of position only goes so far when you've been playing for a team who dominate offensively.

Let's have a little late night captain discussion.

For me, there are 3 options this week: Rooney, Costa and Di Maria

Rooney - The new signings make United look like a team that could turn things around. Blind and Herrera were particularly impressive in their roles this weekend against QPR. With Di Maria providing the pace and guile to break down defenses, I'm thinking Rooney will continue his purple patch against Leicester.

Costa - In blazing form, has a great understanding with Cesc, plays for the best team in the league. However, the Etihad is not an easy place to stroll into and win. Can he continue his hot streak or will Kompany track him out of the game?

Di Maria - Yes, he doesn't look to be much of a threat to score. However, Cesc Fabregas has shown us that you don't need to find the back of the net to be an effective FPL player. Di Maria's form is hard to ignore, especially when you consider the other creative players working around him.

Leaning towards Rooney at the moment, as he has a history of feasting against promoted clubs.

Aguero a great choice as well. Put the armband on Rooney yesterday but as I have AdM as well I'm thinking about putting it back on Kun provided he looks good tomorrow.

      Probably Rooney.

I would hardly call his patch a purple one, however... only this time last week he was being transferred out by the thousands and people were slagging him off. One good game, at home, against QPR isn't enough to convince me of United. However, he's proven he's quality at this level and if they roll out the same formation he'll thrive!

Rooney is my 1st choice because of where he plays and fixtures.

Costa is my 2nd. If Arsenal can score two, why can't Chelsea do?

Di Maria ... Not sure if he will get many chances. He seems a provider.

If you ignore 2nd and 3rd on the fixture list he most definitely is.

I'm considering getting him in for the Palace game and then potentially rotating him out for 2-3 games. The way I see it Villa will be another tough game for them so its effectively 3 games to avoid imo, afterwhich its primetime to get him in.

I'm just deciding which one of Ramsey, Fab, Sterling, or Tadic to drop to get him in. Will decide on Friday night probably.

Not really worth it ... try and transition those guys in over 2-3 weeks. You'll kick yourself if only one of them fails, the chances are they won't repeat last week's points!

Which of these would you play this weekend:

Chambers at Villa (higher CS potential)
Caulker vs Stoke (higher goal potential)

very difficult as qpr look a complete shambles despite caulker being a qualitee player
is there a third option to this question?

      1. rickardinho
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 7 months ago

        The situation is this:

I want to get Baines in, which requires downgrading a big midfielder, as well as a defender.

If I trade Wisdom instead of Caulker, then I play Baines-Lovren-Caulker (Chambers, Clyne) this GW, and then Caulkers 4.9 sits on the bench for another few weeks until I can get him out.

Alternatively, I trade Caulker and play Baines-Lovren-Chambers (Clyne, Wisdom) this GW, meaning that I save the 0.9 for reinvestment elsewhere rather that stuck on my bench until I use a FT on him.

The question is essentially, is it worth sinking 0.9 into the bench for the next few GW's in order to have Caulker instead of Chambers this weekend?

          ok i now understand
trade wisdom as he's probably past it and they will get whacked this w/e
and then be brave and line up baines-lovren-clyne(caulk;chambers)
-i think arsenal might be vulnerable this w/e and chambers might be a no show

Yeah I've considered that as well. The issue with that is that it still leaves me with that 0.9 on the bench. If I keep Caulker its only because of this GW as he won't play again until GW9 or 10. Caulkers fixture is better than Clyne's this weekend too. Imo its too much to have 4.5+4.9 on the bench in defense... 0.9 too much actually

I've done that a couple of times already actually:

GW2: Mata>Fab. Thankfully the coin gods were with me and I got Fab. I think I might have done it anyways, I just needed a reason to explain to myself later why I did it (... "it was the coins fault!").

GW4: Captain Sterling or Tadic. I was leaning towards Tadic and the coin said Tadic.

The coin has worked for me so far.:)

People without Di Maria have a real dilemma, his price is rocketing very fast, and he will soon be out of reach for mny.
Those looking at the stats for comfort are kidding themselves. He may of not had a shot in the box, but the amount of balls he put in there are going to lead to plenty of fantasy points. He quite simply is class above your usua premier league player. At Madrid he was another cog in the machine , at utd he the star turn
9.5 looked good value to me, it wont be long before hes ten , and utd with no euros to worry about are going to be the best attacking unit in the league before long. He will be essential

Last week no one was really interested in ADM, played too deep etc. then he gets a fluke goal and fluke assist against QPR and people are going crazy trying to get him in. It's no surprise really considering he is a 'big name' but then so was Ozil.

Di Maria was passing to Mata, 100%. That wasn't a shot.

Putting ADM and Ozil in the same category is a little unfair at this stage. Ozil was a class player in Spain, but will never pan out in the premier league.

Di Maria's pace, vision, and game sense will make him an absolute star in the EPL.

Couldn't agree more with this TL.

I'm not saying that, I'm merely drawing comparison between high profile market tipsters saying a stock will rise and low and behold it does as everyone starts buying it and high profile posters championing players who then also accelerate their rise in price. As a self professed value chaser it may help your cause (intentionally or unintentionally)

Ozil had 2 assists in his first game, including a beauty of a take-down on a long-ball at full speed and direct pass to Giroud iirc. Then he only got 7 assists the rest of the season.

But lets all get on this wagon because ADM got some fluky assists against the mighty QPR.

He'll probably be like Silva in FPL terms... lots and lots of flash, but ultimately his passes will be the pass before the assist more often than not, while the strikers and Rooney-Mata steal the assists.

Brought him in for Ramsey before the QPR game and glad I did. Will swap him out for Wally when he's back in a few weeks if returns are slow but may be keeping him for a few months. I agree there was some good fortune on Saturday but he will create a lot of chances and when Falcao is up to speed the conversion rate should be pretty good too.

They only play QPR at home once per season πŸ˜‰

considering nobody has risen 0.3m between gw's, I'm not sure "skyrocketing" is going to happen to any player's price this season.

55% of all managers own costa, up 30% or so from GW1. He has increased a whopping .3m this season.

Sigurdsson 0.5m this season, Fab just 0.4m ... bandwagons don't boost prices at 2013 rates in 2014

the price rocketing scar-mongering doesn't really work this season. plenty of time to assess as 1 match in which everything barring a key-pass to van persie went his way is hardly enough to work out whether he's worth it over whoever else would have to make way

Demi is by no means keeping the place warm for Mangala. Mangala is very young and I'd expect him to be slowly introduced to the squad. Demi, for all the ridicule he's gotten, has been a fairly stable and quality CB for them. I'd say it will be next year when we see that shift made full stop and Mangala is in game in game out.

When is Walcott back? Just saw that he had 14g 13a for 194points in only 2200 minutes two seasons ago, and 72p in 860mins last year.

Thats an average of over 7.5 points per 90 minutes, which is pretty incredible for FPL.

Once he's back and starts firing he'll probably be my Arsenal player of choice.

On the downside he might face rotation from Sanchez....

He must realise RVP is not up to it though , it puts LVG in a tricky spot, having to bench his Dutch pet.
My guess is he gives RVP half an hour at end, or starts him with Falcso on bench.

A bit of a re-post but thought I'd add some more detail to get some more opinions on my Caulker/Chambers/Baines situation, which is this:

    - I want to get Baines in (Currently on Lovren-Caulker-Clyne-Chambers-Wisdom), which requires downgrading a big midfielder, as well as a defender.

    - If I trade Wisdom instead of Caulker, then I play Baines-Lovren-Caulker (Chambers, Clyne) this GW, and then Caulkers 4.9 sits on the bench for another few weeks until I can get him out.

    - Alternatively, I trade Caulker and play Baines-Lovren-Chambers (Clyne, Wisdom) this GW, meaning that I save the 0.9 for reinvestment elsewhere rather that stuck on my bench until I use a FT on him.

The question is essentially, is it worth sinking 0.9 into the bench for the next few GW's in order to have Caulker instead of Chambers this weekend?

QPR have good fixtures now, if caulker is going to come good its at home to Stoke. Liverpool are the ones that dont look like keeping clean sheets this season so 5.5. for lovren looking bad value atm. Clearly Southampton and Swansea have the best defense right now as well as Aston Villa who have Roy Keane coaching. Coleman Looks just as likely to score as Baines, Baines more likely to Assist.

        Valid points.

Regardless of what they did away from home, they kept a CS last home game vs Sunderland, and were unlucky not to do so against Hull (when Caulker almost scored). Stoke haven't scored much either, even though they've been getting chances to apparently.

I see what you mean about Liverpool. They still only conceded 1 goal in 2 and 1 chance all game against Villa. Lovren has also had at least 1 decent headed chance per game too.

On last nights evidence QPR at West ham doesn't look as attractive CS wise as it did before either.

Meanwhile Chambers goes to Villa who drew 0-0 with the terrible Newcastle, and have only had 6 shots on target so far... Surely arsenal should handle THAT?

          • 9 Years

Lovren's good run of fixtures also means I have one of 3 Def spots nailed down for the long-term, unlike any of my other defenders who all have at least one bad fixture to avoid.

I might keep captaining costa until he gives me a reason to do otherwise. Another goal or 2 seems very likely even against city!

kids, what is needed for this team - both short and long term?

    bego-krul
    lovren-pva-clyne-widsom, naylor
    ADM-sterling-mirallas-zaha-sigy
    rooney-ade-balo

    0.7m itb

obviously Costa missing hurts but can't afford him without losing Rooney
thinking i hold FT this week and use both next week but who should go / come in??
would also like to get baines soon but can't squeeze him and costa

    Cheers

I've come to realise this week just how powerful the 2FT is. It opens so many doors and possibilities.

        kids…just kidding

thanks mate. krul to mccarthy cause he's likely to get the starting gig from green or better to downgrade 2nd keeper to free up cash?

hopefully the influx for costa stops, he's already at 10.8 and can't break the bank for one player

by the way 'pool are defending it was probably a mistake bringing in lovren, maybe transfer him out soon as well

well both - he could start and would allow you to get costa...should be fine, cant see costa going up 0.3 this week! πŸ™‚

Nothing beats the disgusting Arsenal kits this season. I didn't think it could get any worse from their away kits but those 3rd kits from today were so hideous.
