On a WC, who is the best keeper to partner Mannone? Considering Foster (but already have Wisdom), Schmeichel and Heaton. All have pretty decent rotation.

Foster, wisdom won't play much for you anyway I suspect so rare you would double up unless there is another plum fixture like Burnley at home

looking forward to the weekend already

at least I have work (bleh) and CL (yay but bleh because no United) to pass the time

    .................Begovic
    .......Moore . Clyne . Moreno
    Fabregas . Sterling . ADM . Siggy
    .......Naismith . RVP . Costa

    Gilks . Chambers . Marney . Hutton

either Sterling or RVP for the armband I think

Only 32 points behind 10k so I'm not stressing too much about rank at this stage.

No idea re: Moya. He's started last two games for them in Liga - could be a straight Oblak gets non-league games, or at least he may get his runouts during the group stage.

No, I don't think it is. Just stick with Handanovic's points if Moya doesn't start again. Transfer out Moya next week maybe, but he may well start so it would be a big screw up if you shifted him out now.

      2. 420king

even aguero could be a great pick considering his next two rounds....dont really wanna transfer strikers every round unless there's an obvious choice

there's a good chance moya starts because the fans kind of turned on oblak after olympiakos game and simeone will probably avoid putting extra pressure on him

Hmm so frustrating cause I doubt Handanovic will get a clean sheet but if I sub in Moya for him and he doesn't play it's even worse :/

they won 3-1 in Moscow last year. What makes you think Lewa is such an outstanding pick when he's not even scoring regulary in the league?

Moscow shipped a truckload to Roma last weekend and I think Bayern should net a haul. I can see him getting a brace easily. Messi at PSG a much more difficult fixture even though they are ravaged by injury I think Lewa is the best captaincy choice on day one for this GW and I can't see anyone else even close.

Could be after the weekend. Gamboa gets a chance to start this weekend and if he impresses, I'm sure West Ham would rather develop their own talent.

6 gameweeks with hits taken in three of them. Yet, the weeks I took a hit are my best gameweek ranks.

        V. true. I suppose most are quite conservative and want to avoid the risk. I noticed at the end of last season that I only made real progress when I took hits. I must be running at around a 75% success rate with hits.

you could technically take a -8 every week and always come out on top, though you'd be hard pressed to actually pick correctly every time.

many think of hits needing to pay off immediately, when really you have 2-3 GWs for them to be worth it

          1. Jafalad
            • 14 Years
            9 years, 7 months ago

Yep, good points raised. When I take a hit, I'm looking at giving that player a minimum of 4-5 gwks. Usually, I select on both form and fixtures. I often feel that the Scouts ignore form a little with their Picks and play the fixture.

Exact same here Jafa. Took a hit a few weeks back to get Pelle in, he then scored 2 goals and an assist. Took another hit last week to get Aguero, Bertrand, and Wisdom in which left me 15 points ahead.

Good lad. Be careful you don't become too risk averse as I have tended to be in the past esp around dgwks. If you are too conservative, you can still miss out on big points hauls.

no worries, we're good..many on the site don't believe that wildcard transfers don't affect price changes

Thanks - though now I'm confused! I think it's the double negative in your sentence above. I'm not sure if we're in agreement or not!

The raw NTI for Baines suggests he shouldn't have risen today. I don't know why he did. But if, as TotalFPL reportedly believe, wildcard transfers do not count towards the NTI/NTO calculations used for price changes that might explain it. Baines had a high NTO in the international break, but if a large chunk of that NTO did not count because they were transfers out made by players using their wildcard then his NTO would have been lower than advertised. Therefore, the number of transfers in required for him to rise back again would be lower.

Like I say, it's only a theory. I'm not set on it because it would have meant a high proportion of those transferring Baines out in the international break were doing so on a wildcard. I'm just trying to work out what is going on with the price rise and fall mechanisms.

We're on the same page, I'm saying that wildcard transfers do not count against price changes (either for NTO or NTI calculation). I'm also saying that many users on the site don't believe this and think they do count, hence why some feel pressured to also WC during an international break because so many others are activating and will be messing with the prices.

Frank and Counttom on TFPL both are in agreement on this fact (at least in the past, I suppose it IS possible that they've since changed it this season), Tom mentioning that they spoke to the head developer in the past and he confirmed this.

I think your theory is sound and would explain it.

Another thing that could be compounding this is the fact that having dropped to 6.9, his threshold to rise back to his starting price was lower than it would be to get him to 7.1. We saw something similar to this earlier in the season when Jovetic dropped below his starting price and then rose back up really quickly past it (and I think he's been the only 3x riser in a gameweek, that gameweek; partially due to this lower threshold one the rise back to starting point and thus making the 3rd rise actually a 2nd rise by normal standards).

But we're all just speculating I suppose 😉

At least he is playing in the hole and is playing well, and since I plan to use my WC. Its only likely to be a one game punt. Fab is playing next to Matic and has been playing more defensively since Ramires got injured, as shown by his points in recent weeks.

Chelsea have scored 4 goals in the last 2 games and he didn't get one assist. Since he practically has no scoring threat these days, he is not worth that price tag (for the moment at least)

That's your problem though isn't it? Most weeks you are going to have a benching dilemna. I'd get Pele in there and a cheap 4.4/4.5 mid like Boyd who you can safely bench each week. You only need 11 outfield players at this stage of the season.
