A pair of assists and two bonus points in Swansea’s home draw with Newcastle elevated Gylfi Sigurdsson to the top of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game at the end of Gameweek 7. With 46 points accrued, the Icelandic international is second only to Diego Costa overall and, having started the season at just 6.0, he’s now climbed in cost to 6.8 – his rise in price of 0.8 is greater than any other player so far.

Averaging 6.6 points per appearance under Garry Monk, Sigurdsson has been snapped up by over 44% of FPL managers as he seamlessly settles back into life at the Liberty. Indeed, Sigurdsson’s Fantasy exploits have so far exceeded his displays from 2011/2, where, under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, he served up seven goals, five assists and 11 bonus points in 18 appearances – averaging 5.7 points per match.

As the transfers in continue to pick up pace over the international break, we compare his displays over the two periods to assess his impact since returning to Wales.

          I just think that Sunderland have the toughest run of fixtures out of those 3 teams so WBA and Villa makes most sense to me (I know next week is a bit tough with games vs. EVE and MANu but after that it looks fine), and what do you mean you had Foster and Mannone and wish to switch to the same...?

    Any chance that Luis will replace Azpil or Ivanovic at some point? Seems to good a player to be sat on the bench. Playing CL and cup games seems little reward for the money Chelsea splashed out on him.

                  Yeah that hurt a lot of people. I missed his double the week before but luckily had a decent captain. Not getting in Di Maria on my WC really cost me. Shame Aguero didnt bang a hat trick last week either lol Little lucky things like this going the wrong way always make you think of what might have been lol

    What the current templates seem to have come down to are simply Baines and Ivanovic in or Fab and a cheapie or two in at the back.

    I'm more than happy having Baines AND Ivanovic in over Fab, with the second highest mid in the game in Chadli as his understudy.

    The chances of a Wilson/Hutton/Fab 30-40pt week are a lot slimmer than an Ivano/Baines/Chadli 30-40pt week.

    He say she say of course, and if things change I will do accordingly.

          Fab for me is more expendable than the others. Downgrade him to Chadli/downing.
          I'd check out the Cattermole situation later & play out Pelle too see if you could swap for Welbz

          Getting Baines this week for PVA and will sell Naylor in a week or two for Chambers. With Forster covering the Saints back line its the way forward imo.

            Though Forster would have been my pick a few weeks back.
            Do you really fancy his chances for a CS? Come GW 13 - 21, he's got terrible fixtures.
            Facing top 5 opposition in 7 out of those 9 fixtures.
            Wouldn't you rather spread the risk & get Alderweireld instead? He'd fit perfectly in that defense, any of Moore or Chambers can watch his back for those tough fixtures.

              Yeah thats the problem with having only 1 keeper. I'll be hoping he can get plenty of save points to make up for it.

              Clyne or Bertrand are great but then it gets hairy when rotating them with Chambers. Perhaps they rotate perfectly I don't know. Its just the way my team is set up at the moment. Nothing wrong with having a different keeper and having Clyne/Bertrand.
