Monitor – Dusan Tadic

Southampton’s displays under Ronald Koeman have been one of the success stories of 2014/15 so far. Few believed the Saints were capable of replicating last term’s eight-placed finish after a handful of their leading lights followed Mauricio Pochettino through the exit door but Koeman’s canny dealings in the transfer market have steered his side into third spot after seven rounds of fixtures.

Whilst Graziano Pelle has hit the ground running as a replacement for Rickie Lambert, fellow new boy Dusan Tadic has yet step out of Adam Lallana’s 2013/14 shadow. The latter served up 178 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game last year, courtesy of nine goals, nine assists and 20 bonus points, whereas Tadic – who arrived on the back of 28 goals and 29 assists in his two seasons with FC Twente – has mustered just a trio of assists so far.

With spot-kick and dead-ball duties in his favour, the Serbian playmaker certainly has the upcoming fixtures to improve. Home showdowns against Sunderland, Stoke and Leicester, allied with trips to Hull and Villa in the next five, look tailor-made for the 7.5-priced, 2%-owned midfielder to finally make an impact before the schedule takes a turn for the worse in Gameweek 13.

With that in mind, we compare Tadic’s displays to Lallana’s from last season and also cast an eye over his displays relative to this term’s main men in the midfield bracket.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

How is this looking for the weekend? Did Chester to Azpilicueta for my free transfer.

    Forster
    Azpilicueta, Baines, N. Taylor
Fabregas, Sterling, Di Maria (v), Sigurdsson
    Naismith, Costa (c), Pelle

Subs: Myhill, Chadli, van Aanholt, Vlaar

Looks good mate. Personally would like Naismith to be Welbeck and one of baines/Azp to be lower but boring if we all the same.

I've wrestled with doing Naismith to Welbeck actually. Might still do that somehow.

Got in Baines for Pieters this week. Moreno will get a week or two more before he follows Pieters out the door.

It's worth to keep in mind that Liverpool where seconds away from a CS against Everton, and only lost their CS against WBA to a penalty that was never a penalty. Fine margins, and had Moreno got two CSs in the last two, people would be scrambling to get him in this week instead.

        Well (at least for me);

        1. They can keep clean sheets against anyone...especially the bigger teams
        2. I could bench him away to Man United for Taylor (LEI) if I had to.

I know the 2 contradict one another 😉

:p Chelsea do tend to tighten up against the tougher teams, I played Azpi without fear against ARS and mci. Got one cs and almost got another too.

If there's really no more pressing transfer then I guess it makes sense given Wilson and Taylor don't have the best fixtures either.

As above sounds like a bit of a luxury transfer at this point in time. I'd save and I'd do it if I already had two transfers and nothing else to do.

    Problem for not owning Baines

    a)
    If I do Terry => Baines (-4)
Terry will get 6 points, Baines 2 points.

    b)
    If I don't do it.
Terry will get 2 points, Baines 15 points.

    So.....
    a) gives me -2 and leaves me crying over lost 6 points (+ 4 point hit) this week.
    b) gives me 2 points and leaves me crying over lost 13 points this week,
But then again, a) gives me Baines for long term and also takes 13 points off from my rivals this week.

    Conclusion:
    Terry => Baines (-4) = no brainer

I have costa and aguero, but I think pelle and welbeck along with one big hitter is an equally good route as they should get plenty of goals, and will free you up plenty of cash. I wasn't sure which strategy to choose.

What's important: getting top players or plugging gaps in your squad?
I want to get Aguero, but it requires selling Ivanovic or Fabregas. Would give me a great starting 11, but a dodgy bench - Zaha, non playing gk, 4m defenders.
What would you spend. Money and 2 fts on : getting Aguero or improving 'bench' players?

    1. Gunner HitIT
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 6 months ago

Simple answer: Really dont bother about your bench, at the end of the day I would want my top 11 players playing rather than having one mid level sitting on the bench. Get top quality players, coz they will deliver big and are more consistent

      Hope that answers.

Cheers, I think bench becomes more important as seasons progresses and injuries, suspensions and rotation become more of a factor. But reckon I'll get Aguero this week and sort out my bench later.
        Who best to ditch:
        Ivanovic or Fabregas?

I'd go with the one scoring most points.

West Brom are better than Palace.
      Chelsea are better than United.

Only thing talking against Chelsea and Costa is they have CL mid week and might get Costa off at 60-70 mins if leading with 2 goals or more. And if they lead Costa will be among those goals.

    Mannone / Krul

Nope I just focus on those teams who conceded much goals according to the form gauge. Last week, I went with Siggy and it paid off.

Need some help guys! What would you rather have -

    A) Baines + striker up to 6.9
    B) Jags + Pelle

If A, who would you get for the next 5-10 fixtures?

A but you'll have to change your cheap striker every 3-4 weeks based on form and fixtures

    I have 2 free transfers. 0.0 cash.

    Kruelliot
    Bertrand / Naylor / PvA / Robertson / Wisdom
    AdM / Hazard / Siggy / Sterling / Cork
    Kun / Costa / Pelle

    Would you:
    A. Krul -> Mannone, Foster or Schmeichel (and which one)
    B. Pelle -> Cisse (free up bunch of cash to upgrade defence)
    C. Pelle -> Welbeck (less cash than B, high value potential)
    D. Downgrade a mid -> Chadli (free up cash for high end defender)
    E. Something else

    Decision decisions.

With no other Saints attacking options Pelle out before 2 home fixtures should not be thought about.

Have been reflecting on the new Price rising system and reading a lot of complaints on here.

My take on the subject is that this community might sometimes be a bit to short sighted and wanting quick results to their mangerial choices. The will to see Siggy rise quickly for instance would be a short term win vs those who didn't join the bandwagon quickly enough. On the other side, with a big price rise no one would be able to trade him come GW 10 and a tough schedule in order to not lose to much Team Value.

I believe the new system leaves more space for gamble and switch for non template players - I am pretty convinced that this will make the later stages of the game way more interesting.

    Cheers

Nobody sane will trade him as there's virtually no player at this price range that is on all set pieces and involved in everything his team does offensively!!!
      New system is just bad!

I disagree with you. I might very well trade him out GW10 to trade him in 3-4 weeks later.
0.4 loss is still OK in my book, much higher loss would not work anymore.
Getting Downing in for a 4 week streak for example.

With an eye one fixtures, do you reckon DDG & PVA > Forster & Baines (-4) will pay off in the long-run?

Really fancy doubling up on Southampton defenders and Baines would be delicious..

I like it personally. PvA's fixtures are terrible and I would think you'd more than make up the -4 over the next couple of weeks.

Probably. But, just so you know what you are getting into, Everton's defence is really shite:

      http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/6810/

And they now have a ward full of injuries at the back.

I know. It's him of the dullard move to Azpi.

I could do PVA > Azpi for free, but getting Baines would mean I have an excuse to sell DDG for Forster...

Their defence is shite because they play with such an attacking level. Baines is heavily involved in Everton's attack so CSs don't matter too much because his attacking points are at a midfielder level.

The grammar reflects the reasoning, too. 😉

They are shite, because they have lost the last vestiges of the discipline imbued in them by Moyse.

            Rocky times ahead, I fear.

My second points still stands 🙂

But you can't argue with their attacking intensity at the moment. When attacking, they usually have 2 at the back, so conceding lots of goals is no surprise.

                Maybe.

Baines' form is nowhere near where it was, last year.

His dead ball striking is currently very poor. His corners are suffering.

Was planning on saving FT this week then doing Sterling + Naismith > Henderson + Aguero but worried about Aguero decimating Spurs this weekend. Worth doing these transfers for a -4? Other strikers are Costa and Welbeck.
