The Big Numbers – Gameweek 8

With West Brom and Man United set to see out the Gameweek tomorrow, we delve into the data from the nine matches played so far. Unsurprisingly, Man City, Southampton and West Ham’s in-form front men are on this evening’s agenda, whilst we also cast an eye over a couple of improving north London-based midfielders.

Any point in waiting on this?

Guys were saying another rise tonight, which is a pain given the CL games.

Wish I'd just WC on Sat night now. Might just leave it now and except can't have Costa and Kun.

Struggling with math abit, but if i'm ahead of a rival by 36 points, and we both have Di Maria except he has him as captain...the only way he can catch me is if Di Maria scores 36 points (without x2 for captaincy) right?

ie, 5 goals, clean sheet, no yellow and 3 baps?

    😀

      • 10 Years

How essential is Kun going to be?

    I've got 1FT 1.7TB

    Krul - Myhill
    Vlaar - Terry - Clyne - Wisdom - Bruce
    Haz - Siggy - Adm - Sterling - Jedinak
    Welbeck - Pelle - Costa

To get Kun in I think I'd have to take two hits and lose some heat in the mid, so I don't think it's worth it.

    Probably Terry to Baines otherwise

    Any Ideas?

Costa last played on 12th October. The United game is on 26th October.

There're exactly 2 weeks for him to rest and recover. He doesn't have a hammy strain/tear. It's just that he has had previous injuries and needs monitoring.

I think 2 weeks are enough time to rest and recover from a tired hammy and United away is a big game.

Don't really understand why everyone is convinced that he is a doubt. Typical Mourinho mind games imo.

The funny thing is that Aguero's stats at home this season had been far inferior to his away numbers. That's why small samples can be so deceiving. His double digit shots yesterday will complete flip that around.

2nd thought is if you're chasing you need to do some bold moves. Tadic is a good move although I would want both..

Hutton, Chambers, Wisdom/Dawson, Colo, PVA, Wilson are all alternatives. I'd say the first 3 are the best for now.

        I'd take that!

Then again, you can make 8 transfers for 28 points anyway, so your number is possibly a bit high since there are a few you'd keep regardless.

As TM says, it all depends on when. Perfect timing would be a shake up in fixtures and form from 2 or 3 teams. Non wcers could keep up.

I don't like this Costa thing...people without Aguero will get easy swap now 🙁
At least most will need to take a hit and if Costa is back against QPR, maybe another hit then.

Scary part is that if he doesn't feature against united, his price will plummet and it will be risky
to captain him against QPR (possible cameo if no football in two weeks).

      Or...
Everyone else swaps him out, gets aguero, then when costa comes back they swap again and in the process lose something like 0.5m even I they had him from gw1! Don't worry about others, focus on how to get the most points yourself and the rest will take care of itself

People who are rushing to get Aguero in because he got lots of points. Didn't you already know he's capable of getting lots of points?

Which decent priced mid would you go for? Eriksen perhaps but he's a bit pricier?

Eriksen is pricey (8ish). There's Chadli, Downing, Schneiderlin.

I have Downing and keeping for now. He has improved a lot from last season in terms of productivity. Of course, Barkley could do too but I'd monitor him first.

That he is a rotation risk and was a bit of an assist the assister last season. Sterling stills looks good and has fixtures to match. I'd hold on to him.

    Early transfer question.
    Team at the moment:

    Mannone
    Baines, Bertrand, Rose, Hutton
    ADM, Fab, Siggy
    Costa, Aguero, Pelle

    Bench: Krul, Downing, Jedinak, Duff

If Costa is fit should I Mannone/Krul -> Foster

Selling Costa allows me to upgrade Chester to Baines without a hit.

And I get Pelle in with the bargain. What's not to like?

It's a good bet Baines and Pelle will outscore Costa and Chester this year.

And I won't have to deal with the weekly hamstring drama 🙂

Looking at his fixtures in the long term I wouldn't swap him. Price means it's difficult to get him back plus a few hits might also be needed. Baines and Pelle's fixtures dry up soon enough. Costa & Aguero are the only season keepers in my book.

    Krul, Mannone
    Baines, Terry, Clyne (Dummett moore)
    Hazard, ADM, Sterling, Siggy (ElAhmadi)
    Costa, Welbz, Pelle

    Pretty template team I know..

Considering Costa is potentially injured for a game or two, and considering their fixtures over those next few are tough, and Considering ADM has 3 v tough fixtures in next 4... Is this a good move?

ADM and Costa --> AGUERO and Tadic?

What would you do instead.. 0 ITB and only 1ft

Quality over quantity. Nearly everyone has 2 left. DDG is his differential.
Most beat ADM + 1 with their 2 and the vc situation on top of that.

As you are 3.9k I think if you are 6k at the end of the round that would be a minor drop considering how tight it is up there.
