Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 8 – Monday

Saido Berahino is amongst the goals once again as West Brom play out a 2-2 home draw with Man United. Stephane Sessegnon, Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind also find the net, whilst Angel Di Maria earns an assist as Radamel Falcao drops to the Red Devils’ bench.

Berahino Nets Again
The youngster continues to thrive as the central striker for West Brom and took his tally to six for the season with a second-half effort against United last night. Now up to 45 points after the first eight Gameweeks, the 5.6-priced Berahino is shaping up to be a decent short-term differential – having netted four times in the last three Gameweeks, he now entertains Palace and Newcastle in the next three, with a trip to porous Leicester sandwiched in between.

Brunt Under the Radar
Having recovered from a groin injury sustained on international duty, Chris Brunt continues to pick up the points for the Midlands outfit. Whilst Stephane Sessegnon’s superb opener grabbed the headlines, Brunt’s creativity is paying off time and again – his assist for Berahino’s goal was the third time in the last four Gameweeks he’s teed up a team-mate to fire home. At 5.4 and with a 0.2% ownership, Brunt could be worth considering for those on the lookout for a short-term midfield punt.

Wisdom in the Points
Unable to feature against parent club Liverpool last time around, the right-back ousted Cristian Gamboa from the starting line-up against United last night. In spite of Alan Irvine’s recent praise for the Costa Rican, it seems he remains behind Wisdom in the pecking order, and with an assist for Sessegnon’s opener, the 12%-owned youngster looks set to remain as one of the most popular cut-price defenders around.

Falcao Benched as United’s Away Toils Continue
With his side seeking a first away win of the season, Louis van Gaal’s team sheet raised a few eyebrows as Radamel Falcao dropped to the bench last night in order to accommodate Adnan Januzaj as United shifted to a 4-2-3-1. The Colombian had scored or assisted in the previous three but was afforded just 19 minutes by his manager last night. With unlikely scorers Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind rescuing a point for the Red Devils, Van Gaal may think twice over omitting Falcao as Chelsea roll up to Old Trafford this coming weekend. After the match, though, he admitted he may opt to keep the new system and also suggested Fellaini’s physical presence may be beneficial in the centre of the park as he continues to tinker with his preferred XI.

Di Maria Ticking Over
The Argentine moved to within a point of the FPL midfield summit after serving up an assist for Fellaini’s strike last night. Snapped up by over 203,000 Fantasy managers prior to the Hawthorns encounter, Di Maria has now played a part in seven of his side’s last 13 goals (three strikes and four assists), but with Chelsea, City and Arsenal in the next four, some owners may be looking at a way out in order to generate cash for the Sergio Aguero. Having limped off with a thigh problem late on, we’ll be anxiously awaiting updates on the 10.2-priced midfielder’s fitness ahead of the weekend deadline.

Best course of action here guys, I'm a bit stuck.....

    Forster
    Naylor, Dawson, Bertrand
    Di María, Sigurdsson, Fábregas, Sterling
    Costa Agüero, Welbeck

    Subs: McCarthy Boyd Wilson Moore

    2 FTs, 1.1m itb

    A: Wilson > Chambers/Rose
    B: Cesc/ADM > Sanchez
    C: Welbz > Pelle
    D: Wilson + Cesc/ADM > Baines + Eriksen/Tadic

Or any other suggestions? Thanks all. 🙂

It's certainly the most tempting one, probably a week late but still. The only problem with Baines is that it shifts money to the defence so then when someone like Walcott or Ramsey starts firing then I need to shift it back to midfield or have to get rid of another premium mid.

I know what you mean, I´m assessing the same situation, but by then I´m sure you´ll give up on Fabregas if Walcott starts firing on all cylinders.

with your rank advice from the likes of me is no good, Aguero (c) got over 50% pf my points this week, ta

which Dawson do you have, I'm assuming Craig?

If so I would do a with Chambers. Spurs defence doesn't look reliable enough to consider anyone other than Lloris IMO

          this is the problem

It depends how badly you want Baimes. I'm avoiding so that I can do Chadli to Walcott when the time is right.

If you can afford to bench this week then Tomkins is an option, he has a beautiful 3 play 2 rotation with Dawson and Naylor It's what I'm looking at as i have Tomkins and Naylor, and likely to add Dawson next week or GW11

Would like to add him this week, but I need to lose DDG and Naismith and only 1 FT

    Costa + Moreno + Sterling ---> Benteke + Baines + Sanchez

Or Chester--->Kaboul/Mangala instead of Sterling-->Sanchez. Think I prefer Sanchez though.

    Team:

    Aguero Costa Pelle

Benteke needs to show some form first imo, seems a bit premature even with the fixtures. I'd keep Sterling for this week as well, Hull have been very leaky this season and will be equally tired from European football.

Moreno/Chester should go though, front 8 looks good unless Costa is ruled out for a while.

ah... there's the problem, you should consider the overall balance of your team. I think it's important to have 1 7.0+ defender. but don't transfer in someone in a different position that would be difficult to replace later.

just the confirmation that it was a knee in the thigh is enough to calm any fears. di maria signalled he was ok to stay on for a bit when it happened, you knew right there that it wasn't a muscle pull/strain/tear whatever you want to call it and therefore nothing to worry about

          Sofa test:
Aguero is on the hiding behind the sofa test this coming gameweek as he is the one that will worry many non-owners.
Low risk not owning Costa as not many will captain him. The ones who do captain him and he plays and does well will really benefit.
Baines - not essential yet but getting there if he gets another double digit haul.

          McCarthy
          Ivan - Baines - Wisdom
Di Maria - Sanchez - Tadic - Gylfi
          Aguero - Costa - Sakho

          Bench: Jakupovic, Yun, Dummett, Albrighton

          - Happy with front 7... not too sure about keeper tho, don't know where to free up funds
