The ScoutCast – Episode 143 – Yellow

Far from a tribute to Chris Martin’s middle of the road act, this week’s ScoutCast reflects on the sea of yellow flags that have flooded our Fantasy Premier League squads over the past week. You’re nobody unless you’ve collected at least four by Saturday morning.

The uncertainty caused by phantom international break injuries dominates proceedings as Granville and I mark a return to the studio. Whilst I start praying for Georgie Boyd to step up, my co-host begins his campaign to hypnotise me into getting rid of Branislav Ivanovic before he starts putting further daylight between our teams. I’m refusing to gaze into Granville’s eyes.

Elsewhere this week, we catch “Cup Fever” and resurrect the ScoutCast team. Sign up and you could soon have the pleasure of knocking Granville and I out of our own cup competition. Providing we qualify of course – that’s far from a given.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No reason why not. If you already have Sanchez I would suggest there are no other premium midfielders who are worthwhile.

          Do you have Costa?

don't have Costa...nor have Sanchez...I try to stay away from Template or close to Template players...If I get Costa I will have a front 3 of Aguero -- Costa -- Rooney

I'd steer clear of Sterling for the time being, what has he down to warrant a place in our packed midfield? IMO, unless BR foes two up top or does something to the formation to increase Sterling's ability in the hole & to dive in, he does not live up to the 8.5 tag

*If you have Hazard then, surely Wally then, no?
What's your team looking like? Perhaps those funds could be used to downgrade Silva to a 6.7
& optimize in the defense or up top.

Will people still want Sanchez when Walcott gets more game-time? It's only a matter of time before his minutes increase and he gets some points on the board. What then? Doubling up would, for most, mean dropping the likes of Haz, ADM, Fab etc so it's likely to be a decision to keep Sanchez or drop for Wally. The majority of owners will have a sell price of 10.7 for Sanchez, so a move to Walcott frees up some decent cash. Choices below:

    A) Sanchez
    B) Walcott + ~1.7m
    C) Both

    What are your thoughts?

I'm in almost same Dilemma..I want to replace Silva but cant think whether to do it for Sanchez or wait for Walcott...or just get Sterling and hope he performs well..

In your case I wouldn't double up on Arsenal..and only when both of them Play together we will get to know whether he takes away the points or not..

Its a bit of a sideways move and obviously its a move that can't happen till Wally gets 90mins regularly. It will also be dependant on the comparative form between the two players and how you will use the extra cash.

If sanchez continues to score well then it would be madness to drop him regardless of extra funds, if theo lights it up then there will always be someone in underwhelming enough form to swap him for. Theo more interesting to people who don't have sanchez

      1. Think Tank
        • 10 Years

I have Sanchez currently, but would be sorely tempted to switch if Wally grabs a goal anytime soon. 1.7m goes a big way to investing in a third big hitter upfront.

    6. Zasa

I think Sanchez holds every reason to be in your midfield over a tipsy Wally.
You can argue he may not bag a brace or score big this week, this has every chance to be a tight knit game.

So lets say he blanks, Wally plays 30 minutes or so, an assist (Yes!). Would you really risk only the 1.7 difference Wally offers, & play against Sanchez starting against an ok Brom defense?
I think a Wally vs Sanchez debate is definitely interesting, you're right that cash you could use to upgrade to Chelsea defender or anything, but really it's debatable when Sanchez starts blanking & Wally starts close to 90 minutes. Until they coincide or if Wally starts the engines pre-maturely, then I think it'd be a closer call.

Too risky personally, Sanchez is flapping his wings & has soared, Wally is still in the cradle
(albeit an experienced & proven cradle) 😉

Morning gents, need some help pls

    Forster
    Clyne Baines Dummett
    Tadic ADM Hazard Siggy
    Kun Costa Berahino

    4.0 Yun chester King

    1 FT and 0.6 ITB

If Tadic is out for sure:

    A) Tadic and ADm out ➡ Sanchez and Chadli in -4
    B) Tadic and Baines out ➡ Sanchez and Hutton in -4
    C) Berahino out for Austin

    How to sort this mess?

    Elliot ᵍᵏ Krul
    Moore ᵈ Duff ᵈ Baines ᵈ Clyne ᵈ Chester
Hazard ᵐ Di María ᵐ Sánchez ᵐ Albrighton ᵐ Sigurdsson
    Sakho ᶠ Pellè ᶠ Costa

2 FT, £1.5m in the bank.

Thinking perhaps Sakho, Pelle & ADM out to get in Aguero, Chadli/Downing & Austin perhaps for -4.

    Anything else better?

    Thanks in advance. 🙂

Well you would have 4 points for your sub there already, not bad imo.
But of course depends on your future plans 'cos you would probably have to use next week transfer for that Sakho => Austin anyway.

Nice looking team. Wouldn't sell Baines, since its just one week hes probably out for.

You don't think Aguero + cheap mid is better than ADM + Pelle + 4?
Would also give me the Aguero captain option.

        1. AsAF23
          • 10 Years

ADM vs arsenal who always concede (and with 2 excellent home games right after) & Pelle vs injury hit Villa, I think is pretty good this week.

Downing could be out this week, so the other obvious cheap mid is chadli, somehow I dont fancy him scoring for a 3rd week in a row. Aguero, well of course he's always got a good chance to score, but for one week vs a decent swansea, even if he scores 10 points or so, I think with the +4 you'd be fine this week.

As for captain choice, I think Costa is almost as good a captain choice this week.

Break is almost over - timely reminder of good times ahead of us!

    22.11.2014 - 1.1.2015

    41 days including
    9 gameweeks
    20 gamedays
2 gameweeks with all matches played at same day (26.12. + 1.1.)
1 gameweek missing just one match (Liverpool – Swansea)

And even if you choose wrong captain, if there’s going to be some postponements, injuries to your players, red cards, missed penalties or your team is just not performing well…next gameweek is always near to help you!

Keeping, confident he'll score vs Villa. Stats aside, it's Villa w/o a backbone & their flanks won;t be able to tackle on Clyne & Bert IMO. Crosses will be flying in for Pelle.

Just can't see why I'd sell Pelle this week tbh.

Might be wrong in any case, this could all backfire!

I'd want to remove Mane and Welbeck and Pelle, but next week, not this week. If you didn't have 2 FT, I'd happily not do anything. With the 2, im thinking Mane > Siggy, mainly due to his fixtures after this week. Or Pelle > Bony, then not get Siggy next week and buy someone else.

    3. NABIL - FPL otai
      • 11 Years

Wow, 2 FTs nothing urgent to attend to.

I'd try to downgrade somewhere, probably Welbeck ---> Austin.
Use the funds the following week to upgrade Pelle -----> Costa

Could leave you do get rid of Mane as week that week & do Mane ---> Siggy/Downing (fit)
Back line is no worry, though a bit too invested IMO. like Doosra said perhaps Mannone --> Foster should be on the cards soon.

      Rooney 😯

Muppet, that front three is causing havoc & is wasting so much potential on what you could upgrade in the back. (i.e Baines)
There's no value in Rooney, I'm sure many have said. Why not give Austin go, on he opposite spectrum of Rooney seeing as the former has Pens, is cheaper ;), & is playing up front

Midfield is fine, so if possible soon
      Rooney --> Austin
      Uber --> Baines

    Forster
    Bertrand • Chambers • Wisdom
Sánchez • Di María • Fábregas • Sigurdsson
    Agüero • Costa • Sakho

    Elliot • Marney • Naylor • Hutton

    1FT +0.6 ITB

Bench is a sham for this week, but I don't think its too bad for the future, Naylor will play most weeks in the future with the fixtures.

Sadly missed out on the chance to do Fábregas > Hazard, but I don't think I would have done it yet either way.

Considering Sakho > Austin for free, as I believe Sakho will be benched. Carroll is probably ,ore match fit and Cole is waiting too.

I have been saving it all week, but Sakho is worrying me and I have been tempted by Austin for a while.

    Thoughts?

Azpil is out for me due to rotation in Xmas.. (I think)
Terry has great goal threat and should be nailed as captain
Coutios is completely nailed as a keeper

    Input guys?

Courtois is a waste of funds.

Seen the tables Doos, I know the attacking threat chelsea will tighten up now (as we always do) and a chelsea defender will be important

    Morning all.
Fab and Downing > Oscar and Chadli?
Sound moves or knee jerking flag reaction?

I've thought that for every GW this season! Still waiting!

His form does seem to get better and better though from watching all the games. This GW could be it.

... I say that every single GW 🙁

Feel you bro. Can't stand it longer hence Haz to Fab in GW9. Can;t say I'm very happy with that, either. Haz keep haunting me 🙁

    What to do this week?

    Foster (Myhill)
    Baines Bertrand Dummett (Chambers Wisdom)
    Sanchez ADM Tadic Siggy (Boyd)
    Aguero Costa Sakho

    0.1ITB. 1FT.

Baines, Tadic and Sakho are injury concerns, and I really don't want to have to field Chambers against United or Wisdom against Chelsea. So which would you do?

    (A) Sakho to Austin
    (B) Tadic to Chadli.
    (C) Baines to Azpi/Coleman.
    (D) Any combination of those for -4.
    (E) Save.

I'm liking both A and B. I think B is the better move since long-term Tadic has beyond terrible fixtures, while Sakho has great fixtures (and form).

THAT SAID, I'd wait for confirmation that Tadic is out. If he's declared fit in the presser I'd just save.

Yep, next week I'm planning and doing Tadic and Berty to Azpi and Chadli/Downing OR to Walcott and Yun.

    4. Eze Really?

A ) Good call but not worth a transfer.
B ) Good call due to Soton's fixtures.
      C) Keep Baines. Maybe 1 week out but he is a points machine.

I would definitely have other Chelsea players so make a profit with ADM and get Fabregas/Oscar and move Soton defenders.

Cheers. I'd like to keep Tadic this week if he's fit and then move for Azpi and possibly Oscar next week.

Think I can field 11 this week?

    Krul
    Baines* Clyne Chester
    Sanchez Fab* Siggy Downing*
    Kun Costa Pelle

    (Elliot Marney Hutton Wisdom)

If not, what transfer should I make? 1 FT, 0.1 itb

      Very interesting question.

I'm looking at him as well, Tadic & Clyne -> Siggy & Cresswell next GW for free.

          Must mean that they're gOOOOoOOOod.

I've got Begovic stinking up my team but I reckon he's not worth the hit to ditch, just play him versus LFC and see what happens. Make sense? Not like they've been scoring a lot and the only CS I've gotten from him was vs City.

yeah man, not worth it with the gk's. these mid table teams all play in patches, don't be surprised if he grabs a CS against liverpool with no studge..

Hey, F G! - Sorry doing my morning SSS! 😉

(Not shave, in my case! 😀 )

              I am OK.

Cresswell? Maybe - it is early days. Given our injuries, he is possibly worth it.

2 FT and haven't got Sanchez.

Fab/DiMaria and Tadic - Sanchez and Downing?

Leaning towards Fab due to incoming YC.

    Thoughts please?!

Aaaagh that's tough. That's really tough.

I think I'd pull the trigger with Fab. Sanchez is just running riot right now, Fab will do well but I don't think he's going to be captain material. Sanchez might establish himself as a true heavy-hitter over the next GWs.

Gaucho - I agree, need Sanchez and I think he will run riot against a depleted Utd defence.

Just struggling with the Tadic replacement at 6m or lower!

There's nothing except Downing IMO. Take the chance, even if he misses out this GW he'll have plenty of good fixtures coming up.

FACT: Crystal Palace have not lost any of their last 5 home games with Liverpool in the league and cup.
