Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 15

As managers start to utilise the depth of their first-team squads and introduce fresh legs into starting line-ups, the number of injuries was kept fairly minimal over the weekend. Unfortunately for City and Fantasy managers alike, a certain Argentine’s knee problems casts a shadow over plans for the festive period.

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert is sweating over the fitness of midfielder Ashley Westwood, who was stretchered off with a knee injury in yesterday’s win over Leicester. The Villa boss also has concerns over Tom Cleverley, who was replaced midway through the second half with a foot problem.

Leicester
Ritchie De Laet missed the trip to Villa Park due to illness, allowing Danny Simpson his first start at right-back for the Foxes. Top scorer Leonardo Ulloa notched his first goal since Gameweek 5 yesterday but was forced off at the break during the 2-1 loss at Villa due to a calf problem. After the match, Nigel Pearson explained his decision to withdraw the Argentine:

“In the challenge prior to half time he got a heavy knock with a follow-through and he didn’t fully recover from that, so we felt it was still important to still have the work rate out there with Nugent coming on for him.”

Man City
As Fantasy managers know only too well, Sergio Aguero was forced off early against Everton on Saturday evening due to a knee injury. Whilst Manuel Pellegrini has yet to make a statement since Saturday’s post-match briefing, unconfirmed reports last night suggest Aguero could miss the next month – or at least five Gameweeks, to you and me.

Initial reports suggested Fernandinho missed out through injury but further updates indicate the midfielder was simply rested from the squad to face Everton.

Newcastle
Rob Elliott has been ruled out until January with a thigh injury sustained in the weekend win over Chelsea. With first-choice stopper Tim Krul also sidelined, Jak Alnwick is poised for a stint between the sticks. Alan Pardew – who is without the suspended Steven Taylor – has also revealed skipper Fabricio Coloccini is, once again, an early injury doubt. Mehdi Abeid missed out with a recurrence of a toe problem against the Blues.

Stoke
Marc Wilson and Marko Arnautovic missed the Potters’ 3-2 home win over Arsenal with hamstring and groin problems respectively. Marc Muniesa was forced off after sustaining a hamstring injury, with post-match reports suggesting he could be sidelined for 10 days.

West Brom
Georgios Samaras missed the Baggies trip to Hull on Saturday due to illness, the club’s official Twitter feed has confirmed. After the match, Alan Irvine explained the reasons behind a couple of second-half withdrawals:

“I wanted to be as positive as possible with my changes but at half-time we had Stephane Sessegnon struggling with a tight calf and Victor Anichebe still troubled by his groin problem.”

West Ham
Carl Jenkinson is an early weekend worry for the Hammers. After serving up his second assist of the season, the right-back was forced off with a hamstring injury during the 3-1 win over Swansea.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hi guys hows this look? Ageuro, Chadli and Fabianski to Rooney Boyd and Hart for -8. Leaves me with 3.9 in bank.

    Hart (Krul)
    Baines Terry Clyne Hutton (Saylor)
Hazard (C) Oscar Siggy Downing (Boyd)
    Rooney Bony (Austin)

Then preventing yaya doesnt get booked v Leicester. Oscar to Yaya for the following GW.

    My scout picks;

    Pantilimon (WHA)

Azpilicueta (HULL) Distin (QPR) Clichy (Lei)

Hazard (HULL) Sigurdsson (TOT) Bolasie (STO) Sanchez (NEW)

Costa (HULL) Lukaku (QPR) Dzeko (Lei)

Three Chelsea players at home to Hull. Man City and Everton covered at both ends of the pitch for their favourable fixtures. Pantilimon at home for a solid looking Sunderland should at least be good for saves. Sigurdsson at home against his former club with a point to prove, Bolasie to take his good form into a home clash with Stoke and Sanchez to represent Arsenal in a traditionally high scoring affair at home to Newcastle.

    Please upvote here if you concur, cheers;

Chambers owned by 80%+ in the top 1k. Some will shift Austin who had high ownership.
        Chadli had high ownership.
Plus with the Aguero money sloshing around and guys coming into form like Toure, Cisse, Benteke... should mix it up again, at least as much as it ever does.

Should I ship Albrighton or Chadli first? (Other gets fecked off next week)

    Krul/Elliot
    Baines/Bertrand/Azpi/Moore/Dummett
    Sanchez/Fab/Chadli/Siggy/Albrighton
    Aguero/Austin/Costa

Guys really need some help with my team. Don't know how many hits I really need to take - the less the better of course.

Replace Krul with Alnwick which should get me through till Jan or upgrade him?
Do Chadli to Downing? Or is that one I could leave for a week?
Obviously I'll be doing Aguero to the likes of Bony or Rooney.

Looks like an inevitable 4-point hit this week...

    Aguero > Costa(C)
    Fabregas > Yaya

    leaves me with...

    Foster
    Bertrand / Hutton / Jagielka / Azpilicueta
    Yaya(VC) / Hazard / Sanchez / Sigurdsson
    Ayoze / Costa(C)

Subs: Krul* / Moore / Albrighton / Austin*

Bench terrible I know but other problems will have to wait a week.

I had no idea until now that Jenkinson got injured. How serious was it? Already have 5 other players unavailable this week

    considering a -12

Krul, Sterling, Fabregas and Aguero OUT

    Panti, Ramsey, Hazard, Dzeko IN

Only one thats vanity there really is Sterling to Ramsey the rest seem almost required.

but want to do and my gut is telling me to do

      S.Taylor, Sterling and Aguero OUT

      Azpilicueta Sanchez and Rooney IN

-8 should be enough, Ramsey can wait a week

I'd appreciate any opinions on the options further below. I have done Aguero to Costa and my front eight are:

    Eriksen - Siggy - Hazard - Sanchez - Downing
    Bony - Kane - Costa

Are either of the following transfers worth it? If so, which is best? Cheers:

    A. Kane to Dzeko (-4)
    B. Eriksen to Yaya (-4)

You're going to have a benching headache with either of these moves.

      I would do B though.
