Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 15

As managers start to utilise the depth of their first-team squads and introduce fresh legs into starting line-ups, the number of injuries was kept fairly minimal over the weekend. Unfortunately for City and Fantasy managers alike, a certain Argentine’s knee problems casts a shadow over plans for the festive period.

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert is sweating over the fitness of midfielder Ashley Westwood, who was stretchered off with a knee injury in yesterday’s win over Leicester. The Villa boss also has concerns over Tom Cleverley, who was replaced midway through the second half with a foot problem.

Leicester
Ritchie De Laet missed the trip to Villa Park due to illness, allowing Danny Simpson his first start at right-back for the Foxes. Top scorer Leonardo Ulloa notched his first goal since Gameweek 5 yesterday but was forced off at the break during the 2-1 loss at Villa due to a calf problem. After the match, Nigel Pearson explained his decision to withdraw the Argentine:

“In the challenge prior to half time he got a heavy knock with a follow-through and he didn’t fully recover from that, so we felt it was still important to still have the work rate out there with Nugent coming on for him.”

Man City
As Fantasy managers know only too well, Sergio Aguero was forced off early against Everton on Saturday evening due to a knee injury. Whilst Manuel Pellegrini has yet to make a statement since Saturday’s post-match briefing, unconfirmed reports last night suggest Aguero could miss the next month – or at least five Gameweeks, to you and me.

Initial reports suggested Fernandinho missed out through injury but further updates indicate the midfielder was simply rested from the squad to face Everton.

Newcastle
Rob Elliott has been ruled out until January with a thigh injury sustained in the weekend win over Chelsea. With first-choice stopper Tim Krul also sidelined, Jak Alnwick is poised for a stint between the sticks. Alan Pardew – who is without the suspended Steven Taylor – has also revealed skipper Fabricio Coloccini is, once again, an early injury doubt. Mehdi Abeid missed out with a recurrence of a toe problem against the Blues.

Stoke
Marc Wilson and Marko Arnautovic missed the Potters’ 3-2 home win over Arsenal with hamstring and groin problems respectively. Marc Muniesa was forced off after sustaining a hamstring injury, with post-match reports suggesting he could be sidelined for 10 days.

West Brom
Georgios Samaras missed the Baggies trip to Hull on Saturday due to illness, the club’s official Twitter feed has confirmed. After the match, Alan Irvine explained the reasons behind a couple of second-half withdrawals:

“I wanted to be as positive as possible with my changes but at half-time we had Stephane Sessegnon struggling with a tight calf and Victor Anichebe still troubled by his groin problem.”

West Ham
Carl Jenkinson is an early weekend worry for the Hammers. After serving up his second assist of the season, the right-back was forced off with a hamstring injury during the 3-1 win over Swansea.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

26,000 buyers last two weeks combined... about 3,000 so far this week...

not looking likely... there's a lack of interest in him right now with so many other options

No dead serious. Had a meaningful discussion about Frank Lampard with some guy here a while back, saying he only scored on penalties and played for the best team in the league, so therefore hes shaite. Only seems fitting that Ronaldo would be labelled the same.

Whoever you were talking too seems to be a bit of a mong. You could be put in the best team going, but you still need to be half-decent yourself; Torres the last couple of seasons seemed to prove this, even if he did take penalties would have not been classed as even having a 'good' season.

Ronaldo has always had an insane team around him, as has Messi.

What Bale has won is irrelevant. It doesn't matter how many tournaments Bale or Modric won for example, because Croatia and Wales aren't going to win anything.

Not surprising. Hattricks are hard to come by, just makes it that much more impressive that they have over 20 each.

Is it mad to do Siggy > Downing? Getting Bony as a replacement for Aguero and not really liking the idea of doubling on Swansea's attack.

He went 9 games without a yellow before the weekend's card. Only has to go 5 games this time.

haha a risk is still there though . ref seems like giving cards quite alot recently . a wrong transfer could be costly , we all know we are going to get rid of him after 5 games .

He mainly gets cards vs good teams when he has to foul somebody on the break and slow the game down.
Happened vs Everton, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Hopefully he'll be okay against 5 weaker teams.

    Hey guys.

Would welcome thoughts on Zabaleta V Clichy please....

Clichy is cheaper and seems nailed, but that pesky Kolorov is around. Same could be said for Zab with Sagna. So perhaps both are risks?

City have great fix though and my 2FT will likely be Aguero > Costa and Chambers > DEF...

    Cheers

Worried about a stong Costa haul vs Hull.

I'm in a private league with a decent $$ sidebet and pretty sure my rivals in the top 5 will all captain Costa...I'm happy going with the dzeko differential after this game week as don't think Costa will score heavily in the rest of Chelsea's upcoming fixtures.

Around 5k overall (and plumetting down after an inevitable Saints cleanie tonight)...

    Heaton, Elliot*
    Dummett, Azpilicueta, Yun, Bartley, Wisdom
    Eriksen, Sigurdsson, Sánchez, Hazard, Boyd
    Aguero*, Diego Costa, Austin*

Hi, 1FT, 2,9 ITB what do you lot suggest? Cupcake to the best answer.

    A) Aguero -> Rooney (play Boyd next week)
    B) Aguero, Boyd -> Sakho/Bony, Yaya (-4)
    C) Aguero, Siggy -> Rooney/Sakho/Bony, Yaya (-4)

Thanks for your help, sliding down the rankings..
