This week’s ScoutCast is a throwback – a return to the days when Granville moaned about his team of red flags and names like Robin van Persie and Yaya Toure dominated our thinking.

Granville and I slip into such subject matter like it’s a pair of old slippers, whilst assessing the Aguero fall-out, the Dzeko option, Ivanovic versus “Dave” Azpi and how I’ve modelled my Fantasy Football management style on Roy Hodgson.

We roll out the regulars and lament the demise of the ScoutCast team – eliminated in the opening round of our own cup competition. Some things never change.

    Thoughts on Carroll? Not nailed i guess but he did cost them a bit and he is someone that Allardyce has talked about a bit.....

    Think im deciding between
    a) Lukaku
    b) Welbeck
    c) Westham forward (Carroll?)

    Any suggestions are most welcome and even helpful i would say.

      hes nailed in my mind especially after his performance last week.I wouldnt consider welbek due to rotation and position,so between lukaku and carrol for me , on current team form plus fixtures i would say carroljust shades it , but its tight...

      He is more nailed on than Valencia and Sakho that's for sure. Especially after his performance during last weekend. I'll either go for Lukaku or Carroll. My opinion could be slightly bias though, I do own Carroll.

    Do you play the game differently after winter compared to the beginning of the season? Last year I had 2 playing keepers all season which I have not done this season but last year because of this I by chance managed to hit DGW's with both of them and didn't need to make transfers to achieve it. I think come the winter WC I will have 2 playing keepers again it will also be better should weather happen

      Think I'm a bit like the old Man U. Over the last few years I must have played the game differently after Christmas as I usually start to move up the ranks...not sure why though. Hoping for more of the same this year.

        Not to burst your bubble or anything, Im sure you move up the ranks because you do well and all, but I think after Christmas tends to be the breaking point for a lot of people and they give up or make desperate transfers to try and catch their rivals or cop out and just cover their backs

    How does everyone think WBA will do against Villa?
    I currently have Berahino,Wisdom & Duff on my bench in that order.

        Great manager, but not so great matchcoach imo.
        The best point in that letter is about not signing another defender, thats just madness... a big name was not needed... just a defender, pretty much anyone would be better than none.

        Most of all, we need to focus on the problem with injuries... do whatever it takes, change the training, hire more staff, hira a healer if necessary... just do something

          Since he got cash in post stadium funding crisis, he's brought in Ozil & Sanchez.

          16 1/2 other teams and fan bases in the league would welcome Wenger with open arms. The only 2 1/2 that wouldn't are Chelsea, Man City and the stupider half of Tottenham.

          The lack of appreciation for Wenger that seethes and rears its ugly head every time there's a small patch of bad results speaks volumes about how spoiled and moronic Arsenal's fan base is. Real fans back their club more vociferously when they're down, instead of rooting for failure and nonsensical change. Tossers.

      I am probably alone in thinking this but if Arsenal bought Hummels in the summer they would probably still be where they are now, likewise with Khadera. If they had got a Cavani or Costa would they be where they are now?

      Now offence to Welbeck but his goal ratio for a top 4 club is not good enough in my opinion.

        May affect a captaincy decision though. I think Costa will get around 60-70 mins myself so Hazard captain as he is likely to play the whole game
