Double Gameweek 28 for QPR and Spurs Confirmed

The Premier League have confirmed the first double Gameweek of the season earlier this afternoon. QPR’s home clash against Spurs, which was originally scheduled for Sunday March 1, has been cancelled due to the latter’s progress to the Capital One Cup Final on the same day.

The date has now been moved to Saturday March 7, with both clubs already out of the FA Cup. This means that QPR and Spurs have a blank Gameweek 27 but then follow this up with a double Gameweek 28 – Spurs will host Swansea on Wednesday, March 4, before heading to Loftus Road three days later, whilst the R’s entertain Arsenal prior to playing host to their north London rivals.

Today’s news may persuade non-Tottenham owners to steer clear for now. Mauricio Pochettino’s side face West Brom, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham in the next four and with a blank to follow their Hammers showdown, it may well be that we turn our attentions away from the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli until Gameweek 28, when the fixtures take a turn for the better.

Charlie Austin’s short-term prospects are also questionable. The travel-sick R’s face three road trips in four (sto, SOT, sun, hul) before their blank, and whilst his home clashes with Arsenal and Spurs may deter some, it’s worth noting he’s notched against four of the top five already this season and can clearly deliver regardless of fixture.

I know we're all sick of Costa talk but just wanted to post this screencap

    http://i.imgur.com/MGCX1y7.jpg

Both feet on the ground when Can kicks the ball away, tons of room between his legs to step on grass to push off and run after the ball but he instead chooses to pivot even wider than necessary to step on his foot. All comments saying he couldn't see Can are nonsense because he's looking RIGHT at his foot and the ball simultaneously as Can petulantly (yellow worth) kicks the ball away.

      Guilty as sin.

You don't get a disciplinary record like his without knowing exactly what you are doing.

Having said that, I think he's awesome.

He crosses the line. Some of the things he did in Spain should have seen him slapped with a life ban.

He's got an edge and I like that. Definitely crossed the line stamping on someone, but getting stuck in and barging around I love it.

I can't comment on when he was in Spain as i didn't see all of the incidents.

Anybody who has played sport knows damned well that you have an instinct when making contact in situations like that...such a strong instinct that you actually run the risk of injuring yourself with the immediate alteration to your own footing and stance..At no point does Costa show any type of reaction to the contact...He's jus a dirty sod...

I've done it several times playing football, it's a strange thing that you can't stop. You react in similar way to how somebody does when they pull a hamstring, it's just instinctive.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. As soon as you make contact like that, if you're not expecting it, you at least twitch, or alter the force of your movement.

What I don't understand is how he got away with the Skrtel stamp - you could clearly see him look down and take aim before delivering the studs and I think this was even worse than the one he is charged with (which is also appalling).

it looks worse in slow motion..if you watch in real time it doesn't look like he intentionally stamped on him as he was in midair and Skrtel's tackle sent him spinning on the follow through which left his foot under Costa's stride

that being said he does look down and I don't think he attempted to avoid Skrtel, though that's still different from intending to step on him

I agree with the FA that they shouldn't charge him for that one

I cannot see Chelsea's appeal winning. In fact, I think Costa is now odds on to get an extra game and make it a four game ban for a frivolous appeal. I think Chelsea have looked at the fixture he could miss (Burnley at home) and have just gone for it to prove a point. Chelsea will pay a pathetic fine for the press conference no show tomorrow I'm sure. What the hardball play from the FA would be, is to ban Costa for five so he misses the Cup Final, where it could actually hurt them. I wonder if they are beginning to get fed up with Mourinho...

I don't think he can get an extra game as the appeal is being heard tomorrow.

I think the frivolous appeal thing only applies when the appeal has been delayed to ensure a player is available for a particular game

does the lack of mention of Walcott mean it's business as usual (recently) where Walcott gets 20-30 at the end of the match or him being fine to start? he looked good in the cup and has already started two matches recently (just neither in the PL)

      Walcott:

Pros- Advanced, goals the focus, history of great returns

Negatives- not nailed, not on form, not fit

      Ozil:

Pros- Wenger favourite, good history, good player, good for baps, on some set pieces

Negatives- not nailed, not fit, poor form since being at Arsenal, may be wide.

      Cazorla:

Pros- set pieces, form, penalties, price.

Negatives- could be shifted wide, hit and miss player.

But I would bet that Walcott is one with most goals out of those three from now to the end of the season, provided that he doesn't get badly injured.

          Ramsey:

Pros- history last year, gets advanced, good with Giroud, good for BAPS

Negatives- not nailed on, poor form, injuries, no set pieces to fall back on.

Other negatives: last season's autumn scoring streak massively above his expected goal scoring rate. Returned to his normal after it.

Pogba's agent is greedy and not looking out for the lad. Although the Serie A isn't fantastic he is developing really well at a top European club. A big move may hinder his development. Gotze's progress has slowed since he's come to Bayern.

I didn't realise how bad the snow was in certain parts of the country! (for UK standards anyway).

Make sure you captain and vice captain players from different games is a tactic I'd employ at the best of times, definitely so if there is snow around.

True. I think Sanchez is a player Wenger may put on bench just in case if he isn't sure. Just a hunch. That is why I'm thinking Sanchez could be risky. then again, he could easily start and get 16 points! Where's your money..

    2013/14: 892 minutes, 7 goals, 0 assists, 12 BAPs
