The Weekend Team News

Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to feature for Arsenal’s home clash with Villa this weekend. West Ham have concerns in defence ahead of their trip to Anfield. Kevin Mirallas and James McCarthy could return for Everton’s trip to Crystal Palace, Paul Dummett is ruled out through injury for Newcastle, whilst Mamadou Sakho is likely to be available for Liverpool, despite missing training yesterday.

Arsene Wenger has conceded he is “unlikely to risk” Alexis Sanchez, who picked up a hamstring problem in training. The weekend will come too soon for Danny Welbeck, with Wenger suggesting the forward could return for the north London derby, whilst Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mikel Arteta remain sidelined by injury.

West Ham could be forced into a defensive reshuffle at Anfield, with Sam Allardyce confirming that both Carl Jenkinson and James Tomkins are rated as “touch and go”. The Hammers could be boosted by the return of James Collins, who is back in training after coming off injured against Hull, whilst Alex Song and Joey O’Brien have also emerged as injury concerns ahead of the Liverpool trip.

James McCarthy could return from a hamstring injury for the trip to Selhurst Park along with Kevin Mirallas, with Roberto Martinez revealing that the pair “have a chance” of being involved. Mo Besic is available for the Toffees after recovering from a knock, though Martinez has confirmed that Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar and Tim Howard remain on the treatment table.

Newcastle caretaker boss John Carver has ruled out Paul Dummett for the weekend with a hamstring injury. The stand-in Magpies boss, though, has suggested that the previously injured trio of Gabriel Obertan, Mehdi Abeid and Davide Santon will all be involved against Hull. There is less positive news on Siem de Jong, with Carver reckoning the weekend will come too soon for the Dutchman.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho missed training on Thursday, but is expected to return today and prove his fitness in time for the weekend visit of West Ham. Further forward, Liverpool look set to welcome back Daniel Sturridge from injury, with reports suggesting the striker will be amongst the subs when the Reds face off against West Ham on Saturday.

Steve Bruce rolled out an injury update in this morning’s press conference. The Hull boss is optimistic that Nikica Jelavic, Abel Hernandez, Alex Bruce and Andrew Robertson could be available once again. Gaston Ramirez is now fully fit, though Mo Diame is sidelined for at least another month.

Leicester forward Chris Wood will be out for two to three weeks with an ankle problem, according to Nigel Pearson, though Dean Hammond is available again after missing the Stoke and Spurs clashes through injury. The Foxes will also be boosted by the return of Liam Moore, who has overcome an ankle injury in time for the weekend. Matthew Upson could be set to be available for selection for Leicester after returning from ankle surgery.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

You've got to look at a loss of at least 0.6 in value so you should only take that step if you can see how you can get him back in your squad

WC this week going down to the wire Costa/Sanchez etc...
Assuming Costa gets banned thoughts on this?

    Panti 4.0
    Bertrand, Ivanovic, Bellerin, Hutton, Baird
    Sanchez, Cazorla, Hazard, Oscar, Chadli
    Falcao, Defoe, Kane

    Falcao to Aguero next week

      Benching dilemmas ahoy!

Assuming you won't be unduly upset by having to choose one of those forward 8 to bench every week then there's nothing wrong with any of those picks really. Not sold on Hutton but Villa are still managing to stay pretty tight so I'll let that slide 🙂

    2. JasonG123
      • 10 Years

GW27 you got issues. Also no point having Chadli on the bench every week.

    3. The Blackadder
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

With Sanchez out, Chadli maybe not starting due to personal reasons, ivanovic and Bellerin possibly out, you could end up with only 10 starters.

    4. Dr Dream

Too many GW27 players alongside a couple of rotatable picks will cause trouble for you...Really nice if it wasn't for that GW27 though.

Currently ranked 56th in Ultimate FPL, dropped down from 22nd last week.. Time to take a punt in the second half of the season? Thinking of these three transfers..

Costa, Rooney, Siggy -> Giroud, Defoe, Walcott

Will probably (c) Defoe Saturday with Walcott, Sanchez, Giroud as a backup captain on Sunday..

I know probably not one's for everybody but need something that's going to get me up the rankings... Thoughts?

      • 9 Years

i have lost all faith UPFL and am jaded by it. After great start and hovering around 200 i had about 5 bad weeks and find myself in 600 and not sure if it's possible to catch up but would be happy to finish in top 100 still

I am also considering loosing Costa but think I might hang on to Rooney. He ticks over nicely in UFPL and is my only Utd cover.

Wally is a good bet and I am tempted by him too. other two look good but I reckon Giroud won't be much of a punt. I might go for Pelle instead of Giroud to hopefully catch some ground

      1. GoonerByron
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

I've been trying to keep up, I lost 25 points around GW6 by forgetting to do my transfers and would have been hovering between 3rd and 10th all season so far had I ended up making them Sunday swaps.. So annoying. It's all to play for in the 2nd half of the season I think..

I hate Rooney taking up a strker spot playing CM, not even looking like he'll get a game as a striker.. Seems a waste of a spot for me. I'm planning on keeping Di Maria instead as think he could get back to his early season form.

        1. djenzio
          • 9 Years
          9 years, 3 months ago

yeah good point about Rooney. I have a few spare transfers so might get him and costa out for giroud and pelle or might punt on Sturridge

my problem is I already have 5 premium mids and want to add Wally to that would mean 6 big mids. my defence is fairly light though.....

Nice one on rank... I can guarantee Defoe will score, maybe even two.... I certainly think he'll get similar points to Giroud & Walcott....

On your long term strategy though, I don't think Defoe an option, I'd look at Gayle

Acotw Sinclair to Villa. Hmmm.. Suddenly they have 2 decent wingers and Benteke upfront. They could be decent. Punt on Benteke was premature looks like but he should come good.

    P. S. I feel sorry for Sinclair. Carier ruin

He knew exactly what he was doing. Why would you feel sorry for him?
