Double Gameweek 34 Announced for Hull and Liverpool

Hull have this morning confirmed a new date for their home clash against Liverpool, which was previously scheduled for Gameweek 33. The match, which was postponed after the Reds clinched a place in the FA Cup semi-finals last night, will now take place on Tuesday April 28 – meaning both sides will now have a double Gameweek 34.

With Chelsea and Leicester also poised for a double in the same week, Fantasy managers are handed four teams to choose from as they re-assemble their squads.

Liverpool also face a trip to the Hawthorns prior to their KC encounter, though QPR’s hammering of West Brom last weekend suggests few will be deterred from investing in Brendan Rodgers’ main men.

Doubts over Diego Costa’s hamstring injury may have some eyeing up Daniel Sturridge, though the Reds striker has done little to strengthen his case for inclusion – two goals in the last eight Gameweeks, in addition to ongoing hip problems, are hardly convincing. Jordan Henderson has struck four times in the last five league matches and will surely be sought after by many, whilst Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling are also in contention here.

At the back, Martin Skrtel will return from suspension in time for the double, boosting the prospects of a defence that has racked up seven clean sheets in the last 11 Gameweeks.

The Reds then have two very favourable home clashes in three (against QPR and Palace) directly after their double, with a visit to Chelsea sandwiched in between those Anfield encounters.

It’s fair to say that Hull will struggle to justify the investment, though. Granted, Steve Bruce’s side now have four home matches in the final five Gameweeks of the season but one look at the fixtures (cpl & LIV, ARS, BUR, tot, MUN) underlines the tough task at hand – only the visit of Burnley in Gameweek 36 looks promising. Given that they’ve picked up two points in the last five, the Tigers face a tough task ahead, though their spirited display in the 3-2 home defeat by Chelsea in Gameweek 30 suggests it would be unwise to write their main men off completely.

I am right in thinking that due to the blank gameweek, Skrtel will only become available for the 2nd Hull game in Liverpool's double i.e. he is not going to be able to play the first game against West Brom?
