Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 32

We take our usual Sunday evening look at the weekend’s new injuries now, with Chelsea’s concerns up front increasing after Loic Remy picked up a muscle problem in training yesterday.

Aston Villa
The injury worries continued in defence for Tim Sherwood after Ciaran Clark was forced off early on in the 1-0 win over Spurs. Sherwood is also sweating over the fitness of Gabby Agbonlahor up front, after the forward was also replaced at White Hart Lane. After the match, the Villa manager admitted the pair are likely to miss next weekend’s semi-final with Liverpool:

“Ciaran has come off with a knee ligament injury. He’s not had it before. It’s the first time this season we’ve had to name an unchanged team so it’s something we’re getting used to. Gabby’s tweaked his hamstring. It looks like (they will miss Sunday). It’s a real shame as it’s a massive day out.”

Chelsea
Loic Remy missed today’s trip to QPR after sustaining a muscle injury in training yesterday, Jose Mourinho has confirmed:

“Remy got a kick in training and the muscle is sore. We never cry or complain, we just trust the people on the pitch”

After the 1-0 win, the Blues boss was optimistic that the Frenchman will be back in time for next week’s home clash with United:

“Remy has a small injury. I think he should be available for the next game.”

Crystal Palace
Left-back Pape Souare was forced off early in the 4-1 win over Sunderland due to injury.

Everton
Leon Osman is set to be assessed after sustaining a groin injury during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw at Swansea yesterday lunchtime.

Manchester City
Reports suggest Vincent Kompany was withdrawn at half-time due to a thigh complaint in City’s loss at Old Trafford.

Manchester United
Michael Carrick was forced off towards the end of this afternoon’s derby win over City, with his withdrawal leaving the hosts with just ten men. Post-match, Louis van Gaal revealed:

“At the end, Michael Carrick needed to be changed but I could not substitute him. He was very wise to step out of the game with my permission. I hope he is not injured.”

QPR
Armand Traore was initially named amongst the subs today but withdrew from the squad after sustaining a knock during the pre-match warm-up.

Stoke
Victor Moses and Marc Wilson were both replaced during the Potters’ weekend draw at West Ham, with Mark Hughes confirming post-match:

“It looks like Victor has pulled his hamstring. It looks like it is in a strange position as it seems to be right behind his knee, which isn’t the normal position you usually get hamstring injuries. We will get it checked, it may be something that isn’t to do with the hamstring so it could be that we get good news. If it is a hamstring, then it could be that we lose him for a few weeks…Marc got a bang right on his hip, fair play to him he tried to go out for the second half and see if he could make it work. Sadly he couldn’t loosen it off and had to be forced off unfortunately.”

Swansea
Bafetimbi Gomis lasted just 17 minutes of Saturday’s early kick-off against Everton before limping off with a hamstring problem, Garry Monk has confirmed:

“Bafe felt a tightening of his hamstring. He will have a scan. Hopefully it’s not too serious because we don’t want to lose his quality, and we’re already quite thin on the ground.”

Fellow forward Nelson Oliveira missed out with a twisted ankle sustained in training.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce’s options up front could be somewhat limited heading into the weekend trip to City after both Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia picked up injuries in the weekend draw with Stoke. Post-match, the Hammers boss confirmed:

“Enner was never going to be able to play the full 90 minutes, but he got a kick as well and we’re hoping it won’t be enough to keep him out for next week, because Diafra will definitely be missing. If it’s a thigh strain, depending on what grade it is, it could two weeks or it could be him missing the rest of this season, but we will wait and see. That leaves us very short on the front line with Andy being out, and means goals will be fewer and farther between than they used to be, so if we don’t get that defensive side right then the last six games are going to be tough for us.”

If I hadn't benched Aguero, I would be on 69, what sort of GW rank do you think I would have got?

I guess I just looked at form and was convinced WBA would get a CS after last week. I assumed they would be very conservative.
Kun's form was awful, but in Derby's he is good. Awful stupid decision.

Any advice? I have 4 players (Hutton, Sanchez, Giroud, Sterling) who will not be playing next GW so I'm debating about what I should do.

    Myhill, Ospina
    Terry, Clyne, Alderweireld, Dawson, Hutton
    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Sterling, Boyd
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane

Is Vardy the best L striker? Trying to figure out which of them to go for.
Also is Schlup likely to be playing on wing.

IMO, Nugent has been scoring but off the back of random deflections and penalties.
Vardy creates a lot of opportunities and gets into attacking positions.

with the extra 0.4m that can go toward another double week player
I'm loading up for the double. Besides Leicester have decent fixtures following

I have been trying to figure out which GK decision would be the safest/most profitable to me:

A: Go without a GK this GW (Means I don't have to take another -4 for a DGW 34 player)
B: Get a keeper using FT, (Max they will score is 6-7, means I have to take another -4 hit in GW 34)

-To me option A seems to safest as it guarantees me +4 essentially as I save a FT
-Whereas option B, even if the GK I get scores 7 points this GW, I would still have to take a -4 after using my FT

Have I got this right or am I missing something?

It's a 2pt hit. Those 2 pts would be made up over the rest of the season if you pick a better keeper than the one you had. Or they could be made up immediately in this GW.

I'm avoiding this bandwagon for a week.
Just a thought. Pullis is has had two hammerings, and then going back to former club.
He'll be putting every body behind the ball.
I see Zaha and Bollasie running at a wall of bodies.
Therefore if i were to go anyone it would be puncheon in midfield.
Murray as a target man is still dangerous.

Liverpool have something ridiculous like 8 clean sheets in 11 once you take away the big boys. Not sure about afterwards but certainly tempting for the DGW and fixtures arent terrible after that

Yeah I looked back over the last few weeks and they have been producing quite a few clean sheets..! and yeah the fixtures aren't obviously terrible but it does concern me that they are playing some potentially relegated teams.. and those teams will have a lot more to play for.. like QPR.. and then Chelsea. I will need to compare it side by side and do a bit more research but it does look like a good option.. thank you 🙂

Yeah, numero dos isn't too shabby either, I'm considering Ospina and Davis as well. based on Spurs' attacking form (or lack thereof), if they put up another performance like that, Opsina/Davis may be the way go. Also to keep in mind, Leicester defenders offer substantial goal threat...

Re sturridge above he hasn't been "nailed on" for ages. Mainly because of fitness but

    Davies
    Bertrand Terry(+) Rose
    Cazorla(-) Eriksen Hazard(+) Silva
    Aguero Austin(-) Kane
    Subs: Hamer Phillips(-) Bruce(-)(+) Koscielny(-)
    Plan:
    Now: Cazorla+Austin -> Fabregas+Vardy
    Next: Eriksen+Phillips->Sterling+Henderson
    Sounds good or better ideas?

I feel quite smug getting him last week over Remy.

I was lucky, I couldn't afford Remy. Not sure which way I'd have gone otherwise.

Good morning gents, any ideas on this lot?
    Currently have 10 men playing.

    Davis
    Dawson Fonte Terry
    Haz Mane Silva Boyd
    Aguero Kane Giroud*

    Mannone* Bellerin* Ozil* Naughton*

    2FT 2.6ITB

    A) Ozil -> Fab
    B) Naughton -> Schlupp/Morgan

Thinking on Mane & Naughton(or Bellerin) -> Henderson & Skrtel next week.

I think we all need to be very careful with our transfers this week.
I am very tempted to get in Bolasie and a new keeper, but I just know I'll end up taking a hit due to those transfers.
The transfers i have in mind are great for next week, but might turn around and bite me the following week.

I'm in a similar position. I need a keeper, and by getting the one I want I have to downgrade somewhere else. Might just get a Pool player and bench him, but Bolasie is so tempting..

    Panti*

    Alderweireld, Terry, Bertrand

    Hazard, Mane, Eriksen, Felliani

    Aguero, Kane, Giroud*

    Foster, Sinclair, Bellerin, Hadiera

Pretty confused as what to do as I've slacked off recently with me moving house so a bit out the loop. 2FT 5.1m in bank. Use free to just get another Chelsea in or am I over looking something?

Yeah probably would do Foster and Giroud out with your transfers with that lot.

Will be doing Naughton > Schlupp / Morgan.

Is it worth doing Giroud > Vardy or Phillips > Cambiasso for a -4 in order to field a full 11? Also double game week after.

Why do so few people appear to be considering Mignolet for a DGW option? Less expensive than Skrtel and could get save points too

    1. BantamPhil

Only reason I got Schmeichel is because I needed a keeper for GW33, but Migs is probably the best option for a DGW goalie
