Mondogoal

Mondogoal GW 33 – £30,000 Contest Latest

The Fantasy Football Scout lineup was pipped at the post in last weekend’s Mondogoal contests, earning second and third placings – this despite backing the Crystal Palace points avalanche at Sunderland.

Yannick Bolasie and Glenn Murray combined to earn us almost half of our 106.90 points total but that wasn’t enough to deny Mondogoal heavyweight, “ChrisDAFC”. He earned his sixth spot in Mondogoal’s £30,000 World Championship via his 112.97 haul and also edged past us in the special West Ham Awards Dinner contest.

Chris now looks well set up to compete for the big final day prize but we’ll be locking horns with him again this week in our quest to earn a qualifying spot to take him on.

The £30,000 World Championship

How Does it Work?

So far, over 100 qualifiers have now gone forward to the final Gameweek contest. To qualify, you need to win one of Mondogoal’s £30k qualifying contests – you can enter these for just £2.

How Do I Enter?

Mondogoal are running three more qualifying contests this weekend. You have until 12.35 on Saturday to select your line-up for either the £2, £10 or £50 contests.

The more you lay down with your stake, the more chance you have of making it through, with just 22 teams competing in the £10 contest and only five competing in the £50 stake contest.

If you’re consistent with your picks you may even be able to progress with more than one team – you can have up to ten entries in the Championship final come May.

Don’t forget, you can enter multiple contests with the same Mondogoal line-up with the click of a button.

Having multiple teams will obviously increase your outlay but, with the ability to block out defences, you’ll certainly be increasing your chances of hitting a big score.

Once you’ve created your squad for one contest, go to your list of entries, click on a contest and then click “Enter This Line-up in Other Contests”.

FF Scout Gameweek 33 Picks

mg

Despite their miserable form and defeat at Old Trafford, we’ve gambled on building our current selection around Man City’s Etihad encounter with West Ham.

City have a point to prove and the Hammers look to be the perfect opposition to aid their recovery. Sam Allardyce’s men are also in a malaise and have little to play for. With that in mind, we’ve backed a City clean sheet and are putting faith in David Silva and Sergio Aguero to pepper Adrian’s goal and emerge with points aplenty.

That investment in City has forced us to discount Eden Hazard for the first time in over a month. The Belgian has been a Mondogoal mainstay for us but, with the Stamford Bridge clash with United looking hard to call, we’ve chosen to look elsewhere.

Palace’s form guys – Glenn Murray and Yannick Bolasie earn predictable places in our squad. To be fair, after last weekend, we almost feel obliged to retain their services.

The selection of Everton trio Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman and Aaron Lennon might surprise a few, although the Toffees clearly offer the potential of a clean sheet at home to a shot-shy Burnley. Coleman and Baines bristle with attacking threat, while Lennon is a livewire on the flank with two goals and an assist in his last four.

Free-scoring Leicester City help to complete our XI. While Jamie Vardy earned the plaudits for his at-the-death winner at the Hawthorns, we’ve gone for the cheaper option of David Nugent. He may lack Vardy’s energy and pace, but Nugent certainly has the craft to play a key role in the Foxes vital home clash with Swansea – he’s also expected to be on spot-kicks. Back in midfield, Marc Albrighton is our budget enabler: a surprise starter last time out, we’d expect him to retain his spot in the Leicester lineup and, at just 4.4 million, we have to gamble on his selection.

We’re expecting to tinker further. Crucially, with no early kick-off on Saturday, we’ll have a view on the teamsheets from a quartet of three o’clock matches before submitting our final squad. Mondogoal’s weekend contests will close at 2.55pm on Saturday.

Remy comment from Mourinho is a classic Jose smoke screen.
There is no way he is letting Van Gaal know for definite if he is starting Remy or Drogba tomorrow.

    I expect Remy to start.

Seems like Kun is the most favourite contender for the armband this week.

But I am a bit more inclined towards Kane this week. This is from someone who held onto Kun even when many chose not to.

But I genuinely don't think the game against West Ham will be not as easy as many are thinking, and besides Pellegrini will probably play 4-4-2 anyway. While Newcastle are in an absolute rut now.

What do you guys think though ?

Report for other opinions. A question for you FF geniuses.

I've got Mahrez playing this week, which will - in all likelihood - be another 1 pointer and he will be benched next week. Do I instead, transfer him for Cambiasso (for a free), who I'd play this week and next week (over Ozil (che)) and take an additional hit next week to transfer my third Liverpool player?

    Thanks 🙂

      • 12 Years
      9 years, 15 days ago

I don't think Cambiasso is worth a hit over Mahrez. It is essentially a hit. So just use the FT for a Liverpool player next week imo.

I wouldn't bother with Cambiasso. Not a consistent enough points getter. Also ex-Inter Milan scum lol. I would save the FT and get the Pool player for free, or even 2 for -4.

2 games in 4 days for someone coming off an hamstring injury feels like a recipe for a reinjury to me. I would not expect 2 consecutive starts for Costa in the DGW. I base this on no knowledge, just my own uncommon sense.

In an exercise of self-aggrandisement, I compared my points total for the past 10 Gameweeks (The Emre Can Can - 29029) with the top twelve players in the world (Overall League) - #TooMuchTimeOnMyHands - and was pleasantly surprised to find that my 696 points for GW23 onwards outscored them all. Can anyone better that? Or would I be the #1 player in the world had the season started on Jan 31st?

Even if fit to start, he rarely plays 90 and Costa is clouding the DGW. I'm an owner and another -4 will hurt but it might be for a long term gain if I get someone like Vardy (and Fab for the DGW)

I've had a shocking season, didn't see any point buying players everyone else has.

To keep or not to keep (Remy), that is the question.
Tis nobler in the mind to suffer Mourinho's bullshit, than to gain FPL points.

    What is everyone else doing?

Classic Mourinho. Do we know if he has trained this week?

It's a very important game for Mourinho so I expect him to start Remy if he is fit. I also understand Drogba was poor last week.

He was involved in an Audi promotion event this week but it may have been filmed before his injury

Play Lescott (cry) or Wasilewski (SWA)?

Lescott will probably play 90 but cant see more than 1 or 2 points; Wasilewski may not play or may only play a cameo, but if he does start he maybe has better chance of a clean sheet(?)
